Siege of Madaya Before its residents were displaced to northern Syria in 2017, Madaya endured numerous atrocities at the hands of Hezbollah. From 2015 to 2017, the town was subjected to a complete blockade, cutting off food and medical supplies. During this brutal siege, approximately 350 people from Madaya lost their lives, primarily from starvation, the blockade, and landmine explosions.
