A dramatic moment captures a space rock striking the Moon’s surface, creating a powerful and sudden impact. The object hits at incredible speed, producing a brief flash and disturbing the lunar surface. With no atmosphere to slow it down, the Moon is constantly exposed to impacts from space rocks, which have shaped its cratered landscape over billions of years. Events like this are happening all the time, but capturing one clearly is rare. This moment gives a glimpse into the dynamic nature of space and how even the Moon continues to change. A brief impact, but a powerful reminder of cosmic activity. #nasa #space #spacex

This once-in-a-lifetime moment happens when sun rays hit Horsetail Fall in Yosemite National Park, at the perfect angle, creating a glowing lava flow. Thousands of people gather at the same spot to witness this rare event almost every year.

Captured over Fairbanks, Alaska, this is one of those rare moments where science and imagination collide. What looks like a glowing, winged figure in the sky is actually an intense auroral display - shaped entirely by the invisible forces of Earth's magnetic field. Auroras form when charged particles from the Sun collide with gases high above our planet. But the colors here tell a deeper story.

IN 45 DAYS, YOU WILL SEE HALLEY’S COMET. Not with a telescope. Not through a screen. With your eyes, from your backyard. Halley’s Comet returns every 76 years. It was last visible in 1986. It will swing through the inner solar system again in May. And this time, it will be an easy naked-eye object. Right now, it is a faint smudge even in telescopes. But as it falls toward the Sun, it will brighten. The coma will grow. The tail will stretch. By mid-May, it will be as bright as the brightest stars. You will find it low in the western sky after sunset. A fuzzy star that does not twinkle. A star that moves noticeably night after night. Edmond Halley predicted this exact return in 1705. He saw the same comet three times in his life. You will see it once. Maybe twice, if you live long enough. Start checking the western horizon in early May. The comet will be waiting. Are you going to watch for it? #HalleysComet #Comet #NightSky #Astronomy #Stargazing #May2026 #SolarSystem #NakedEye

Floating together in the vastness of space, Earth and the Moon form one of the most iconic sights in our solar system. Earth shines with its deep blue oceans and swirling clouds, while the Moon appears as a quiet, grey companion reflecting sunlight. Despite the distance between them, their connection is powerful, with gravity binding them in a constant dance. The Moon plays a crucial role in stabilizing Earth's rotation and influencing ocean tides. This simple yet powerful view reminds us of the beauty of our cosmic neighborhood

This is a wild moment inside the cockpit, just 2 minutes after leaving Florida. At 150,000 feet, the sky was gone from light blue to black, and the ride on the huge, solid rockets has been violent, jamming us up through the air. Suddenly there's a blast of pyrotechnics. Even though we're going Mach 5, the air is so thin the explosion arches out in front of the windows. Now being pushed by just the 3 Shuttle engines, the ride goes smooth, with a huge feeling of relief - getting rid of those solids means you're much safer, and halfway to orbit. I've done it twice. Atlantis and Endeavour. A great start to an amazing adventure.

That single white streak is an interstellar rock moving faster than anything humanity has ever launched. It didn’t strike Saturn itself—it slammed straight into the rings. Watch closely over the next eight seconds. The gap opening before your eyes will never close. It’s permanent. Saturn’s rings are disappearing in real time, and there’s nothing anyone can do to stop it.

THIS IS NOT A GLITCH. THIS IS ELECTRICITY ABOVE THE CLOUDS. High above the most violent thunderstorms on Earth, something almost impossible flickers into existence... jellyfish-shaped bursts of red light dancing at the edge of space. They're called Red Sprites. These ghostly flashes erupt 30-50 miles above active storms, triggered by the massive electrical discharge of a lightning massive electrical discharge of a lightning bolt below. While the bolt strikes downward toward the ground, sprites fire silently upward toward space. The insane part? SO They vanish in under 10 milliseconds fast the human eye can barely register them which is why most people have never seen one despite storms happening every second somewhere on Earth. Storm chasers chased them for years without proof. Scientists finally confirmed they were real in 1989. 4 When you see one, you're watching electricity escape Earth's atmosphere entirely. Have you ever caught a glimpse of a Red Sprite? Upper atmosphere, 30-50 miles above thunderstorms. ▲ Visual may be enhanced to illustrate the phenomenon
