I got hands on some early development videos. This... is 12 seconds unlike the 30 second one, no audio or anything. It does show off the tools they use in Unreal for a second. We finally pulled the plug on per day pricing.... It had to be done. The problem with per day pricing is it always creates winners and losers. - If we’re on site for 8 hours and don’t quite finish, we feel obligated to work extra to get it done. We lose. - If we finish a project in 5 hours and the customer paid for 8, they feel like they lost. It’s a simple system to start with. Customers understand it, it’s easy to quote, but it’s not scalable. It relies too much on experience and too much back and forth. So we switched to project based pricing. Now we’ve got 3 tiers of brush density and 3 tiers of terrain. Tier 1 is easy, Tier 3 is tough. Pricing scales per quarter acre, with volume discounts on larger jobs. It seems more complex on paper, but in reality it’s repeatable, reliable, and something we can train any new hire to do. We calculate the project, send the estimate, and that’s it. No more “estimated days” language. No more winners and losers. We’re much happier with this system.show more

Day 23 of how I vibe code my game... engine in Cursor: Unit Sprites Like I mentioned in my buildings post: units hit the same wall once the animation steps outside the sprite’s inner silhouette. That’s where the pain starts: pixel bleeding, halos, and PBR maps becoming impossible to mask properly because they must follow the whole sprite. I almost gave in and embraced the demon lords: 3D → 2.5D. But then I had an idea: What if every PBR map (normal/emission/etc) could inherit the exact same animation as the diffuse sprite? If the motion matches 1:1, we get the full 2.5D look without breaking the animation, and we can run it at whatever framerate we want. So I built a prototype and… it actually works. (check the vid) Pretty neat, right? Next step: streamline it in-engine and scale it to all 6 hex movement directions without turning it into a manual nightmare. Also investigating the remaining white aura issue — I might regenerate diffuse + normal + emission in a 2×3 grid on both white + black backgrounds and extract cleaner alpha. After that: compositing layered units (ex: tank + turret). More pain ahead. But it’s the fun kind!show more

I am a Licensed Electrical Contractor, I work for... a company that manufactures and installs commercial LED fixtures. Just finished a job for a US Govco building. 1. The drivers work on any voltage range between 115-277 or 460-480, depending on the application. 2. Flickering (Strobing) is 95% from a Defective Driver. 3. There is no possible way all these drivers are going bad at the same time. 4. The only logical, technical answer to this is that the frequency of the power is unstable. US is 60Hz European is 50Hz. 60 or 50 Cycles per Second. For this to happen on a large scale, the Utility Provider has to have an imbalance between Production and Load. Very uncommon. 5. Excessive loads on the grid, normally the computer switches part of the load to a different substation. 6. There isn't a logical explanation for this on a wide scale, other than more planned PSYOP'S, to create more panic and fear. 7. Walmarts, Airports, Hospitals, Essential Structures like Police, Fire, etc. Are always fed from a minimum of 2 different substations. Many are fed from 3 with automatic transfer gear. 8. If this wasn't a PSYOP, or Intentional planned exercise to create more panic. Utility workers would be all over this, in less than 30 minutes.
