Winter Weather Advisory ⚠️ for Lake Cook Dupage and... Will counties and south from there from 6PM Saturday to 6PM Sunday If it was just system #snow giving us a glancing blow from the expansive southern storm dumping every type of weather from #Chicago to the gulf coast, an easy forecast of 1”-4” north to south would be on the table But dance with the devil we must as Lake Michigan sits poised to be either a reluctant dance partner or the lead tango dancer in the snow show Forecasts range from 2”-9” in the city. 2” means no lake impact, 9” means we get a long duration lake feed I’m leaning toward the latter, as entrenched cold air, mid and low level wind convergence over the lake, a lengthy North-Northeast wind fetch and still open mid lake surface water should be enough to loft even a little moisture 2-3 miles upward to feast on an excellent snowflake growth zone that will feed into the immediate Chicago shore areas and add another 3”-5” to the system snow. Another tricky point is the ratio of liquid to snowfall. Usually we see a 10 to 1 mix. 0.1” liquid=1” snow. This cold air here will double that to 20 to 1 so even an extra 1/4 inch of liquid would be 5” of snow (0.25x20=5.0) to add in And by immediate shore areas I could see Midway getting double what O’Hare gets. Like Cicero Ave and east being a cutoff Here’s the model variance. Snow would start to trickle in about sunset Saturday and just hang out thru much of Sunday into the afternoon.show more

It’s a wet, snowy morning at the airport as... the first of today’s 111,895 travellers make their way through the terminals, with 878 flights scheduled. The forecast is calling for 8–10 cm of snow. Our crews have been out all night clearing snow from the runways, taxiways and aprons, and they’ll be working throughout the day to stay ahead of the snowfall. A traffic management initiative is in place to help regulate the flow of departing aircraft. This may affect some flights as we prioritize safe, steady movement across the airfield.show more

❄️ SNOWFALL REPORT: This Week (12/1) More snow is... on the way as a series of storm systems sweeps across the country, bringing brutal cold temperatures behind them. Here’s a breakdown of each Storm ⬇️ 1️⃣Everything kicks off Tuesday morning with our first storm, bringing widespread accumulating snow from the Ohio Valley into the Northeast. The jackpot looks to be the interior Northeast, where 4-8” are possible. Along the coast (NYC, Boston, DC), expect mostly rain. 2️⃣Later in the week, a second storm may take a similar track, bringing another round of accumulating snow to the Northeast. Details are still TBD, but snow is definitely on the table. 🥶Behind both storms, the Polar Vortex will dip into the U.S., delivering a surge of very cold air - highs in the 20s, 30s, and 40s across the eastern U.S. It’s going to be a fun week 😎❄️show more

Trend towards some #snow around #Chicago for later Saturday... into Sunday is still on the board Now 4 of 5 models put some snow into the area as the monster winter storm passes well to our south Frosty fly in the ointment is the impact of lake effect snow materializing, or not. That’s the difference of a little to 3”, or the 8-9” advertised by the UK model Short range hi res models still 2 days out til we see that, but wording has dropped into the official long range NWS forecast for this chance of snow for the 2nd half of the weekend All of this of course follows our deepest freeze in 7 years that kicks in about midnight Thursday and will get some -30° and dare I say -40° wind chills by sunrise Friday. Talk about model agreement? 14 models all go at least -20°show more

🚨Models are starting to LOCK IN on where the... Heaviest Snow and Strongest Winds will be with our upcoming Bomb Cyclone. ✅ Every Weather Model is now on board with a DUMPING of snow across the Carolinas, with some spots getting several inches and some spots getting up to 1 Foot! ❄️ The highest Snow Totals will fall closest to the center of the Nor’easter in coastal North Carolina and Virginia, where up to a foot of snow is possible. 🎯 Cities like Raleigh, Wilmington, Virginia Beach, and the Outer Banks will see Blizzard conditions for much of the day Saturday as snow piles up and winds really start to CRANK. ⬅️ Further inland, Heavy Snow is also likely in Charlotte, Columbia, Greenville, and Asheville, with totals generally in the 3–6 inch range. 🌨️ Elsewhere in the Northeast, models currently agree this storm largely misses you, with lighter snow of 2–4 inches possible in Delaware, Maryland, and into Nantucket. ➡️⬅️ There is still time for small east or west shifts, but each new model run lowers those odds. ⚠️ We know this will be a big storm for our Carolina brotheren. Winter Storm Watches are already out, and several may be upgraded to Blizzard Warnings by Friday. 🔒 Lock in, my brotheren. A Blizzard is coming. ❄️🌬️show more

KwaZulu-Natal braces as storms bring rain, wind, and snow.... #ColdFront KwaZulu-Natal is in the grip of intense storms as heavy rainfall, fierce winds, and snowfall batter the province, prompting swift action from disaster management teams. The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued warnings for disruptive weather, with conditions intensifying since Sunday, June 8, and continuing into Tuesday, June 10. Torrential rain has flooded roads and low-lying areas, particularly in eThekwini, Ugu, and uMgungundlovu municipalities, while strong winds threaten structures and coastal zones. .“We’re on high alert to protect lives and property,” said a spokesperson for KZN’s Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Department, as teams assist affected communities. Residents are urged to avoid travel, secure loose items, and stay updated via SAWS alerts. With the storm’s end still uncertain, KZN battles nature’s fury with resilience and readiness.show more

❄️ SNOWFALL REPORT: Week of 1/18 – 1/25 ❄️... This is a another BIG one. A HIGH IMPACT Winter Storm could develop late this upcoming week, with the potential to bring Heavy Snow and Ice to parts of the country. 🌨️ The heaviest Snow will likely fall on the north side of this storm Friday - Sunday, wherever it ultimately tracks. As we move through the week, I would not be surprised to see Winter Storm Watches and Warnings issued as it becomes more clear where this storm will setup. ❄️When it comes to exact locations and Snow totals, we are still WAY too far out to pin that down. That said, the most likely SNOW ZONE appears to be somewhere within the Tennessee and Ohio Valleys, though this will almost certainly shift as we get closer. ❄️Elsewhere, the Midwest will see a few rounds of light to moderate Snow Monday through Wednesday as a series of Alberta Clippers pass through. These should be minor systems, generally producing a few inches. ❄️ Boston, NYC, and parts of the Northeast will start the week with a healthy dose of Snow, with 4-5 inches possible by Monday morning. 🏔️ Out West, the Rocky Mountains from Colorado through Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho should pick up significant Mountain Snow, with over a foot possible in higher elevations. 🏔️The Cascades in Washington and Oregon will also see Snowfall, with a few feet possible in favored areas. ❄️The MAIN THING to remember this week: whoever gets hit by the late week Winter Storm could get A LOT of Snow, but there will also be plenty of busts nearby. That’s the nature of these storms. 👀 I’ll be watching this late week storm LIKE A HAWK 🦅and will post updated maps as details become clearer. ❄️ Get ready, my brotheren. This is shaping up to be an exciting week of weather tracking. May the odds of Snow be ever in your favorshow more

SUNDAY SNOWFALL — 2ND CALL ❄️ This setup shares... similarities with today’s event, where lift and timing matter more than storm track of the coastal. While the primary coastal low stays offshore, a secondary zone of strong dynamics along the leading edge of arctic air will be the driver for snowfall Sunday. That zone favors Long Island and central NJ Sunday afternoon into the evening, supporting a widespread 2–4” snowfall. The BOOM potential remains over LI if the trough axis can swing from neutral toward slightly negative tilt — a signal consistently shown by the AI guidance, which has been notably steady with this idea. In this scenario your moisture transport off the Atlantic Ocean can be enhanced causing more surprises. I am being cautious on that. ❄️ZONE 1 | NW NJ / Hudson Valley Snow arrives earlier here with colder air already in place. Snow ratios will be higher, allowing coating–2” in most spots. With the front nearby at onset, isolated 3” totals can’t be ruled out, especially near I-87 and areas just east. ❄️ZONE 2 | Interior NJ, NYC, SE NY, CT (away from the immediate coast) This is the core 2–4” zone. While that sounds modest, this is a dynamic-driven snow, meaning totals could fluctuate sharply over short distances. I believe most of NE NJ, NYC, SE NY, and much of CT reach at least 2”, with localized overachievers possible. ❄️ZONE 3 | Coastal NJ & Southern Long Island Mixing remains the wildcard here. Small temperature and wind shifts will have an outsized impact, making this zone highly volatile and lower confidence overall. ⚠️ BOOM POTENTIAL: ALL OF LONG ISLAND & SE CT If snow banding locks in Sunday evening, this area could see an extended period of steady snow. In a perfect scenario, 4–6” is achievable, but confidence in that outcome is still low. More on the PIX11 News at 10pmshow more

🚨 An absolutely LUDICROUS amount of Snow is about... to fall out West as a TRAIN of Storms pushes onshore. ❌This comes as our West Coast brotheren have been dealing with RECORD low Snowpack, with many ski resorts forced to close parts of their mountains due to a lack of Snow. That is ALL about to change next week as an Atmospheric River delivers a near constant FEED of moisture into the West. ❄️ The heaviest Snow remains on track to fall in the Sierra Nevada, where 4 to 8 FEET or more could pile up early this week. 🏔️ Heavy Snow will also dump into the Rockies, including Colorado and Utah. Here, 1 Foot or more could fall over several days. 🌲 The Cascades will see PLENTY of Snow as well, with 1 to 2 FEET likely in the higher elevations. 🌧️ Lower elevations along the West Coast, including Seattle, could see a few Snow Flakes mix in, but little to no accumulation is expected. ✅This is FANTASTIC news for our mountain loving brotheren out West who have been DYING for Snow. It will also do wonders for the California and Rocky Mountain Snowpack, which desperately needs the boost. 👊 Enjoy the Snow, my mountain loving brotheren.show more

Saturday April 18, 2026, 7:50 PM: The latest satellite... shows an incoming robust late-season Pacific storm into all of California starting Monday at 10PM to Tuesday at 7PM. The 545 DM low axis, approximately 240 miles northwest of San Francisco, continues to intensify greatly due to escalating warming of the Pacific, and a piece of embedded impulse from a typhoon near Guam will eject into this system. The main low axis will form a secondary low near San Luis Obispo to western Los Angeles counties late on Monday afternoon. This actually may further escalate the stronger surface cold front that will maintain all way through Southern California especially Los Angeles County. Perhaps even grazing Riverside, San Bernardino, and San Diego counties. In addition to this, there will also be severe thunderstorms that will be associated with the system, especially up into the Bay Area just south of Sacramento and Fresno. There could be isolated tornadoes as well on Tuesday afternoon. I'm watching this developing situation closely in the next 24 - 36 hours. The snow levels remain 5,500 feet for Lake Tahoe and Mammoth Mountain and that includes Yosemite Valley, where snowfall accumulation can reach 12 to 36 inches of snow by Wednesday afternoon. #CAwx #winterisbackshow more
