We wrote Godot Shaders Bible in a linear way:... first you learn core concepts like the render pipeline, then you jump into building different effects like distance-based transparency, post-processing, portals, and more. Take a look 📎 #godotengine #indiedev #gamedevshow more

Why talking about returns without a timeline attached means... nothing “There is a rule in our office that you are not allowed to talk about returns without also talking about time. It is very common on the private side to say you are up 2X, 3X, 5X, whatever. That tells you nothing. If you are up 5X over 30 years, that is horrible. If you are up 5X in five months, that is amazing.” Dave Moreheadshow more

Half woman, half warhorse, all business. Meet Warhoof, the... centaur knight we keep in the front of the lineup. She's fast, she hits like a cavalry charge, and that blade's seen more fights than most of our servers. We spent a dumb amount of time on the armor — look at that metal finish on her lower half. Would you field a centaur on your main team, or is she too much horse for you? #Unity #GameDev #IndieDev #CharacterDesign #RPGshow more

My PR for ubershaders and pipeline pre-compilation for Godot... is up as a draft (likely headed for 4.4). The benefits are immediately apparent when running a game for the first time without a driver cache. Most of the stutters are gone! Left is the current master, right is my PR.show more

𝙎𝙡𝙞𝙥 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙞𝙘𝙠 𝙖𝙩 𝙂𝙇𝙀 🧠 This is such... a high level skill. Act like you are setting a goal line pick, and then slip it when the defense is anticipating the switch for doorstep dunks✅ Beautifully done by Georgetown MLacrosse!show more

Working on the transitions before and after battle. I... prefer to keep battles in the same location that you are exploring instead of taking you to a different screen. That way feels less like an interruption and also you can expect some action at any time! #gamedev #indiedevshow more

Fixed this small bug in Linear’s app today which... I often see in other apps as well. Here’s a small before/after. The issue: When you open a popover inside a modal (think a custom select), clicking outside the popover to close it also closes the modal. The desired behavior is to close the select on click outside while keeping the modal open. This often happens because custom dropdowns or select components are rendered in a portal. The modal then treats the interaction as an outside click because, technically, the dropdown isn’t inside the modal in the DOM, it’s rendered elsewhere via a portal. The fix depends on your setup, whether it’s Radix/Base UI, fully custom etc. But since you now know the cause of it, you can ask your agent to fix it for you!show more

“At 6:00 this morning the Fire Department was alerted... to a report of a fire at 2086 Anthony Avenue. We arrived to find heavy fire in two buildings and very quickly transmitted a 2nd alarm. It eventually became a 3rd alarm, bringing more than 40 fire and EMS units and 150 fire and EMS personnel to the scene. We had fire throughout two buildings, and unfortunately, we did have two fatalities,” said Chief of Department John Esposito. “We did unfortunately have a car parked on the closest fire hydrant. We’ve seen that now a couple of times in the last week throughout the City. We all know that we should not be parking on fire hydrants and when you park on fire hydrants, it slows us down. When we’re fighting a fire, seconds count.” The GNY Red Cross and NYC Emergency Management are on scene to assist displaced residents. FDNY Fire Marshals are investigating the cause and origin of the fire.show more
