In a world of crazy sport schedules, specialization and... constant skill work, often times BASIC physical development is left to the wayside. When working with MS and HS kids, I do my best to work in things that don’t “look like s&c training” on purpose. It’s generally in our warm ups and on top of gaining mobility and working on skills, it’s fun. Yes lifting is important and vital. But so is basic level floor work and “gymnastics” work. Learning to fall, roll, cartwheels, move on the ground not only aid in mobility + reducing injuries but build a SOLID base of movement literacy. The younger we do these things and more often we do them the better. Remember… getting stronger is easier than getting more athletic.show more

You may win without it, and let skill and strategy shine, but it won't be sustainable The things that Jordan does extremely well that need to be highlighted are: - energy - communication - mid-rounding voice - emotional awareness - effort - mental resilience - ability to stay focused when the match matters High Performance is a combination of talent and skills for sure, but more importantly it's: - attitude - behaviours - consistency - mindset - focused attention - awareness of mental intensity - intention to improve - intention to execute As you continue to build your skills in game, be sure to elevate your High Performance skills overall. It starts with awareness, then influence, then consistency! This might be the greatest counting video ever. I... don’t want to spoil it, so watch it first, then come on back and let’s discuss… ____ There are so many fantastic things happening here as our hero (age: 2 years, 7 months) counts his plastic eggs. In this video we get a sense that he is well on his way to mastering two important early math skills: rote counting and one-to-one correspondence. Rote counting is the process of remembering and reciting numbers in their correct order. It’s a memorized skill - but an important one that helps children to understand that numbers exist in a fixed sequence. One to one correspondence is the process of matching each spoken number to one (and only one) physical object. This little guy pulls it off perfectly, counting with accuracy to 11. His inclusion of 8:30 between 8 and 9 was not only the best laugh I’ve had all week, but a telling stroke of genius as well. Where did it come from? Today we’re announcing our new Mentava Basics curriculum, aimed... at kids who are still a bit too young for the standard Mentava curriculum. Here’s what people don’t understand about teaching a 2 or 3 year old to read: The necessary skills for reading don’t all develop at the same time. The ability to associate letters with sounds happens first, and at a pretty early age. If you think about it, learning “this funny shaped animal says moo” is pretty similar to learning “this funny shaped line says aaa.” However, the second necessary skill for reading is blending those letter sounds together, and kids often aren’t developmentally capable of doing that until at least 6-12 months later. Until today, our recommendation has been to wait until the child is developmentally ready to blend sounds. and then we just go full speed and teach them everything all at once, as fast as possible. But sometimes we have students who start a little younger. And then their parents are confused, because they see that their kids are having a ton of fun learning letter sounds super fast, but then are being gatekept from additional learning because they aren't yet developmentally ready to blend those sounds. That’s why we created the new Mentava Basics curriculum. Mentava Basics lets our youngest students focus on letter/sound pairings until they're developmentally ready to begin blending them. Mentava Basics takes the fun and delight of the core Mentava experience, but applies it to a curriculum that’s developmentally appropriate for even younger children. Mentava’s standard curriculum is still the fastest way to go from zero to reading, but with Mentava Basics now we can give kids a head start by helping them learn their letter sounds in advance. If your child is struggling with blending and you think it may just be a developmental readiness issue, you can use the grownup menu to switch into the Mentava Basics curriculum. The Hidden Blade is mainly used for stealth take-downs ✅No present day segments. I was informed that it will be replaced with new moments that explore Edward’s past with his wife, along with some “what if” scenarios like Edward siding with the Templars, for example, likely related to Juno’s involvement in the original narrative 📜Thoughts: While the demo I played featured only a portion of the map, Resynced has potential to replace the original as the definitive experience of Edward Kenway’s story I also wasn’t able to experience any of Rifts that replace the modern day, so for me, as a fan of the series’ lore and present day since 2007, the absence of a traditional modern day is the only let down that prevents me from fully replacing the original with it, as present day and sci-do elements are the DNA of the franchise and what makes it stand out It would also be great if mission replay is added later, a feature the OG had by default, like its predecessors That said, everything else very much elevated what was in the original, which made going back to replay it show how dated it feels by comparison I look forward to the final game, and to see future games inherit this formula of a defined protagonist, focused progression and no RPG elements😎show more
