In 1995, 77.1% of global primary energy was provided... by fossil fuels (coal, natural gas, and oil). As of 2024, 76.4% still comes from fossil fuels. That's a 0.7 percentage point drop in 30 years. World governments have spent TRILLIONS of dollars on “green” energy projects, and it has barely made a dent in the energy mix (note, these figures are based on the substitution method for fair comparison, so it slightly lowers fossil fuel figures). The fact is that renewable energy sources, like them or not, are largely add-ons to existing energy sources (primarily fossil fuel and nuclear power) that provide us transient savings in optimal conditions. That may change in the future with battery backup as they become cheaper, but that still won't address the fact that oil is STILL going to be needed for lubricants, plastics, fertilizers, etc. Oil is the backbone of modern society, so even if it were to no longer to be used as fuel, it will be used in another capacity and wars will be fought over it.show more

These Indigenous people protesting during #COP30 show us how... to respond to climate summits where fossil fuel lobbyists and political agents of oil and gas companies fly in to give empty speeches and issue duplicitous communiqués while a climate disaster unfolds. Look at the devastation caused by the heavy rains in Kinshasa on the night of November 11–12, 2025, with severe human and material losses. The Democratic Republic of Congo, like much of the Global South, did not cause this climate crisis yet it bears the cost today while industrialized nations profit from fossil fuel exploitation at the expense of vulnerable populations.show more

A simple(ton's) guide to understanding climate change and wildfires:... Yes, the Biscarrosse wildfire was started by a van that caught fire. The flames spread to roadside vegetation before moving into the forest. That is a fact. What isn't true is the claim that this means climate change had nothing to do with it. Climate change didn't set the van on fire. It helped create the conditions that allowed a single vehicle fire to become a major wildfire. France is suffocating under intense, recurring heatwave conditions. The Landes de Gascogne forest has been turned into a tinderbox, where a single ignition source was all it took for disaster to unfold. The flames spread rapidly, burning thousands of hectares and forcing thousands of people to flee. The van was the spark. The heat and dry conditions were the fuel. Hotter, drier landscapes mean fires spread faster, burn harder and become far more destructive. Stop staring at the match and start looking at why it was able to become such a disaster.show more

🚨 BRAWL STARS HAS DELETED AN OLD TWEET! 🚨... jersus | 🩷 discovered that Brawl Stars has deleted a tweet from the Biodome season for unknown reasons! The tweet contained the official heights of some Brawlers. Luckily after seeing the post from the person who noticed this, I remembered that Brawl Stars used to have a bunch of separate Twitter accounts for different languages. And as it turns out, the tweet was never deleted from those accounts! The link will be posted below! 👀 Why do you think it was removed? Personally, I think they deleted that tweet because some of the information in it doesn't really make much sense. For example, Ruffs shouldn't be that much bigger than Sprout, and Surge is shown as being so much smaller than Kaiju. Based on Surge's release animation, that doesn't seem to be the case in the lore. So it's possible that the height chart was inaccurate or no longer reflected the developers' intended scale for the characters.show more

In 1995, 77.1% of global primary energy was provided... by fossil fuels. As of 2024 (the latest data I could find), 76.4% still comes from fossil fuels. That's a whopping *sarc* 0.7 percentage point drop in 30 years. Governments have spent TRILLIONS of taxpayer dollars on “green” energy projects, and while growth in renewables has been enormous (particularly solar), it has barely made a dent in the global energy mix (note, these figures are based on the substitution method for fair cross-comparison, so it slightly lowers fossil fuels) because coal, oil, and natural gas consumption continue to increase year after year. If eco nuts like you actually wanted to “decarbonize” the economy, then a deregulation of and transition to nuclear fission would achieve that far faster.show more

Most people have no idea that these photos exist... from the surface of Venus. Climate change is real. It’s happening on Venus and it’s happening on Earth. Did you know that Venus may have been habitable at one point in time? It’s known as Earth’s sister planet. Below are some of the only images ever taken from the surface of Venus. One day Earth may look similar to this. There is no argument that climate change is real. It happened on Venus and it’s constantly happening on Earth. Human interaction most definitely has some effects on the planet’s climate change, but so too do non-human factors — even to a greater degree. My hope is that, not only can humans work to slow down the process, but also one day come up with solutions to reverse it.show more

The way this Minnesota Timberwolves team acts is honestly... disgusting… Anthony Edwards was yelling at the ref about how Denver has “4 and-1 threes!!” And they were literally all fouls? Like this is next level insanity. You’re fouling the other team, the refs are calling it and you are complaining about it? It doesn’t make sense to me, and it makes them look so unprofessional. After game 1 Chris Finch was complaining about how Murray had 16 free throws, show me at-least 1 foul that shouldn’t have been called of those he got? Because I haven’t seen a thing. With a team that has so much talent, I feel like so much of their energy is wasted by complaining, complaining, and more complaining. You can’t play basketball like that. Lots of character problems, particularly from Finch, that reflects on his players. If I was the ref in this situation, I would be laughing at Ant. And if I was a Minnesota fan, I couldn’t watch this.show more

This is Croatia right now… Everyone needs to know... what is happening in our world right now: Our planet has been experiencing the most extreme heat event in world history. This is the coldest summer of the rest of your life. July was the hottest month in the United States since we records began in 1895—Washington, USA burned to the ground. June was the hottest month in Europe, exceeded 40 degrees Celsius, shattering all heat records—caused over 25,000 deaths across the continent. Venezuela, Columbia, Indonesia, and Malaysia earthquakes crashing. The planet has recorded exactly 10 major earthquakes of magnitude 7.0 or higher—Earthquakes are not caused by CO2, but climate change can modulate them by secondary effects. Rivers in China and Europe are drying up, reaching historically low levels—Just for perspective, the drying of these rivers will impact shipping routes, leading to a skyrocketing in the prices of food, fuel, and energy. El Niño has begun, driving ocean temperatures to record-breaking highs—Nearly three decades ago, a catastrophic El Niño claimed 23,000 lives and inflicted billions of dollars in global economic damage. Canada burned to the ground, and Greenland's ice sheet is collapsing—slowing down the overturning of heat in the North Atlantic, pushing the whole monsoon system down further south, causing droughts and forest fires over the Amazon rainforest. The severity of this heatwave is truly hard to comprehend. What's going on there is a foreshadowing of our future. Scientists confirmed that heatwaves driven by climate change. Climate change is not a "hoax." It’s real and it’s happening. If you are not a scientist, and you disagree with scientists about science, it’s actually not a disagreement. You're just wrong. Science is not truth. Science is finding the truth. When science changes its opinion, it didn't lie to you. It learned more. This is no longer just a climate crisis. Climate chaos is inevitable. This is a humanitarian crisis. Just because you do not take an interest in climate change, doesn't mean climate change won't take an interest in you. We should start naming heatwaves after fossil fuel and oil companies, and wildfires after arms and defense industries. And Could reporters stop asking if leaders believe in climate change and start asking if they understand it instead. The world must remember that we live in a society, not an economy.show more

A staggering 65% of REPUBLICAN voters in the South... Carolina primary INCORRECTLY believe that Joe Biden did not legitimately win the 2020 election. Why are GOP voters so removed from facts and reality and is it possible to deprogram these people from the massive number of lies that they are being fed from the leaders of the party? 🚨 WOW! President Trump just exposed that Minnesota RIGS... their elections to block Republicans from power Part of that was importing mass Somalis and allowing FRAUD in exchange for VOTES. "Amy Klobuchar, the lightly respected Senator from Minnesota, is running for Governor to take the place of the current Corrupt and Incompetent Tim Walz. I have gotten to know Klobuchar over the years, and find her to be equally as incompetent as Walz, and probably equally as corrupt in that, as a high Government Official from Minnesota, she knew everything that was going on." "If the Elections in Minnesota weren’t RIGGED, any Republican could win, but they were, and that is why nobody has won there since Richard Nixon many years ago. I thought I won it all three times, only to be disappointed in the end." "Vote for Mike Lindell for Governor, who has my Complete and Total Endorsement, and forget about these Corrupt Dumocrats like Amy Klobuchar. MAKE MINNESOTA GREAT AGAIN!"show more

Jet Fuel is a fascinating story. We don’t measure... it in litres, we measure it in weight, because fuel expands/contracts with temperature while weight stays constant. Jet fuel’s specific gravity is ~0.8, so 1 litre ≈ 0.8 kg (lighter than water). It’s also worth noting that jet fuel is essentially a highly refined kerosene, far less volatile than gasoline, which makes it safer to handle in large quantities. On a long-haul, fuel can be close to half the aircraft’s total weight at departure. On the A350-1000, that can be ~129 tonnes. At most major international airports, this much fuel doesn’t turn up in a tanker. It’s stored in a depot and delivered through a network of underground hydrant pipes to each stand. The “tanker” you see is really a pump truck connecting the hydrant to the aircraft and metering the exact uplift. When I moved from the A340-600 to the A350-1000, one of the things that struck me most was just how much simpler and smarter the fuel system became and how much less fuel we required for the same journeys. On the A340-600, we needed a rear trim tank in the tail to keep the aircraft in balance during cruise. It worked beautifully, but it added complexity. The A350 doesn’t need that, instead, it uses tiny fractions of flap in cruise, together with the latest wing aerodynamics, to keep perfectly in trim. London → New York comparison (typical figures): - A340-600: ~80–90 tonnes of trip fuel - A350-1000: ~50–60 tonnes of trip fuel That’s roughly 30–40% less fuel, saving ~25–30 tonnes on a single flight, which also means about 80–95 tonnes less CO₂ (rule of thumb: 1 tonne of jet fuel ≈ 3.16 tonnes CO₂) 📸 by ig/captainchrisshow more
