One of the most shocking things I witnessed today... was this woman in pink screaming “you gon end up like Metcalf, you gone be pushing up daisies”. I caught the tail end of her saying this to Metcalf supporters in the clip below. I also witnessed several Karmelo supporters get extremely aggressive when ANY media tried speaking with them. One female reporter went up to the group to ask questions (linked below) and they immediately got angry saying “we told y’all to stop coming the f*ck over here” (this was her first attempt at speaking to them). At this point I started warning every reporter who was trying to speak with this group, as earlier, another local reporter had tapped on the shoulder of the man who leads their chants. The two small puppies in the cardboard box are hers. Maple came into Gulf Coast three weeks ago as a stray picked up near the Port of Biloxi. She was thin and clearly had recently been nursing. The intake team suspected she had puppies somewhere nearby but searches of the area came up empty. For three weeks, Maple lay in her kennel in a way the staff described as "not quite present." Ate enough to stay healthy. Accepted gentle handling. But mostly kept her head down and stayed quiet. The volunteers who worked her kennel talked about her in the break room. Something about her stillness was different from ordinary shelter sadness. It felt like waiting. Ten days ago, a family in Ocean Springs found two small puppies under their back deck. About six weeks old. Brought them to Gult Coast. Standard intake. No connection was made immediately. Then a sharp-eyed volunteer named Tess was reviewing intake photos and noticed the puppies' coloring. The shape of their ears. She pulled Maple's intake paperwork and compared. She brought it to the shelter director, a man named Gary. Gary said: "Tess came into my office and laid both files side by side on my desk and didn't say anything. She just looked at me. Paige Ostroushko has been making numerous posts boasting about... her boyfriend getting out of jail after assaulting the cops attempting to arrest her for attacking Savanah Hernandez, and how the two of them are free and not facing any consequences. She also attempts to play the victim, cries about her attack on Savannah getting a ton of attention, and says that mor people should have stepped in to help her against Savannah and the cops. They Ostroushko family went back to the Whipple building where they had committed the assault, and Chris made a video in which he played the victim and tried to claim that Savannah was an "agitator." It's absolutely insane to me that no justice is being carried out! In Minneapolis alone, Nick Sortor, Cam Higby 🇺🇸, Yaakov Strasberg, now Savanah Hernandez, and I'm sure a number of other other journalists too, have been attacked and threatened, and not a single thing was done about it. The Hennepin County Sheriffs Department knew about all the attacks, yet they didn't do a thing about them. Is it open season on journalists now?! What ever happened to law enforcement and our justice system?! Is a journalist unable to have the basic expectation of not getting attacked for simply videoing things nowadays?! This is the worst art restoration in history. An... 81-year-old woman with no training did it. In broad daylight. With the priest's permission. And nobody stopped her. The original was called Ecce Homo, a small fresco of Christ crowned with thorns, painted around 1930 by the Spanish artist Elías García Martínez straight onto the wall of a church in Borja, in northeastern Spain. After eighty years the damp in the walls had begun to eat the paint away, so in 2012 a parishioner named Cecilia Giménez decided to save it. She was 81, she had loved painting all her life, but she had no training whatsoever. What she left on the wall was a blurred and wide-eyed face staring out of the plaster. When the town saw it, officials assumed the church had been vandalised, and reportedly considered taking legal action. Then they found out it was Cecilia. She could not understand the fuss. "The priest knew it," she told Spanish television. "I've never tried to do anything hidden." She also insisted she had not even finished. She had left the paint to dry and gone away for two weeks, intending to come back and complete the job. She never got the chance... Within days the image had crossed the planet. The internet named it Ecce Mono, and Monkey Jesus, and Potato Jesus, and turned it into thousands of memes. Not everyone was laughing. For the people who prayed in that church, it was not a joke at all. Some of them called it a desecration, and some called it blasphemy. Whatever the world saw in the image, they had lost the face they had knelt in front of all their lives. And people now travel across the world to see the thing that replaced it. In the year after the "restoration", around 57,000 visitors came to Borja, a town most of them could not have found on a map. But the point is this: the beautiful face that Elías García Martínez painted is gone... Nobody ever thinks about him. He was a trained artist and a teacher at the fine arts school in Zaragoza, and around 1930 he stood in front of that wall and painted the face of Christ onto it by hand.
