The engineering behind the new Tesla Roadster is absolutely... insane Tesla and SpaceX literally packed an entire rocket thruster system into a sports car, including high-pressure gas tanks, valves, plumbing and thrusters And what's even crazier is how compactly they've engineered everything, leaving enough room for the batteries, motors, cabin and all the other components that make it a fully functional flying car This is an extraordinary level of engineering and packaging from Tesla and SpaceXshow more

The Fundamental principles of Mastering high-performance vehicle tuning requires... an in-depth understanding of mechanical engineering, from suspensions to drivetrain optimization. A turbocharger utilizes the power of forced induction, where exhaust energy drives the turbo impeller to increase intake air density for efficient combustion. For every car enthusiast, analyzing the relationship between a turbocharger, torque, and horsepower is vital when optimizing sportscars, super cars, American muscle, or SUVs. The automotive industry showcases the constant evolution of global car culture. Whether focusing on JDM legends, custom vehicle modifications, or modern cars, prioritizing engine durability and reliability remains essential. Mastering these mechanical engineering standards ensures that turbo technology maximizes performance and capability across all cars.show more

Mercedes 300CE-24. One of the best looking coupes Mercedes... made from that era. The pillarless C124 design alone makes it special. This version uses the M104 24-valve straight six instead of the 12v, which was one of the better engines offered in the W124 lineup. Smooth, strong and very much part of classic Mercedes engineering. There were a lot of good powertrains available in these coupes and even an AMG, but the 300CE-24 is a sweet spot. Manual versions also existed, which makes the car even more interesting today, although they’re quite rare. Sometimes I still think a 500CE with the M119 V8 would have made this car even better.show more

Life update: It’s been kinda hard the past two... weeks. I’ve been trying to live normally but honestly it’s still hard. Been in and out of hospitals, figuring out surgery (keeps getting delayed), trying to work (hard to focus and sleep), travel for conferences, run Touchdown (was supposed to start fundraising two weeks ago). I’m very lucky to be alive, I was worried I was gonna go blind in my left eye. I was a passenger and FSD was on, so it’s honestly just made me really curious. How does perception actually work? How does the car identify and classify objects? Is all the inference done on the vehicle? Imma always support Elon Musk and I’ll always have tremendous respect for everyone at Tesla and Tesla_AI pushing the boundaries of engineering to help humanity. Engineering is extremely hard and no matter how hard you try you can’t get all edge cases. But I genuinely want to understand the engineering challenges behind FSD and autonomous driving. Is there anyone at Tesla_AI or Tesla I can talk to go thru this? I want to see how I can help make autonomous driving safer.show more

I got an up-close look at the engineering INSIDE... the new Tesla Roadster at yesterday’s unveil, and it’s pretty crazy. After watching this thing drive upside down, launch into the air, and do flips, I got to see the actual hardware that makes it all possible. 1/ The Electric drive unit is the heart of the Roadster’s electric powertrain, delivering power directly to the wheels. 2/ The battery pack has rows of cylindrical battery cells, with cooling systems and electrical connections running throughout. This is what powers the car before the rocket tech comes into play. 3/ The rocket thrusters has multiple cold-gas nozzles. Tesla says the four main rear thrusters blast compressed air faster than the speed of sound, producing more than 80,000 newtons of thrust. 4/ The SpaceX-inspired pressure tanks has two massive carbon-fiber-wrapped pressure vessels with a combined capacity of 600 liters, holding approximately 250 kg of compressed air. And the wild thing is the Roadster can recharge its own air supply, no special rocket fuel is required. 5/ An active rear wing has a variable-pitch wing that automatically adjusts downforce depending on what the car needs. It allows it to get more grip when cornering, less drag when going fast. 6/ The underbody engineering is the hardware underneath that brings everything together, including the systems that help the Roadster stick to the ground and launch into the air. And then there’s the fan suction system, which Tesla says can generate up to 2 g’s of suction force, enough to hold the car upside down. Tesla and SpaceX have built an electric sports car with a battery, electric motors, rocket thrusters, high-pressure air tanks, active aerodynamics, and a suction system powerful enough to let it drive upside down. And yesterday, I watched it actually happen with my own eyes… I’ve seen some incredible engineering from Tesla over the years, but getting this close to the hardware and then seeing what it can do was on a whole another level. This is what happens when you bring together some of the best automotive and rocket engineers in the world and let them push the limits of what’s possible. Great job Tesla! 👏show more

Eight students were killed after a Tamil Nadu-registered seven-seater... car crashed into a parked goods lorry on National Highway 66 in Kerala's Thrissur district late on Friday night. The accident took place around 11.40 pm on September 4 at Panambikkunnu in Kaipamangalam. According to preliminary information, the car was travelling from Guruvayur towards Kodungallur when it collided with the rear of the parked lorry. The lorry was reportedly stationed near a diversion on an under-construction stretch of National Highway 66. Traveling at high speed, the driver apparently missed a diversion barricade and slammed into the parked lorry's rear, as per media reports. Six students died instantly at the scene, while two others were declared dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital, according to police. Police confirmed that all eight occupants, young men from Tamil Nadu believed to be engineering students, died in the crash. Authorities recovered student identification cards from the vehicle, with preliminary reports indicating they attended an engineering college in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu. The impact of the collision was severe, leaving the car badly mangled. Rescue personnel faced difficulties in removing the occupants from the wreckage and had to cut open the vehicle to retrieve the bodies. Fire and rescue personnel, police officials and local residents were involved in the rescue operation. The bodies were subsequently shifted to the mortuary at Thrissur Medical College for further procedures and identification. Preliminary reports also said CCTV footage captured the car travelling along the highway shortly before the crash. The footage and other evidence are expected to form part of the investigation into the circumstances leading to the collision, according to the reports. Police have initiated an investigation into the accident. Authorities are examining the road conditions, the positioning of the parked lorry and other factors that may have contributed to the crash.show more

A “Bangle butt” hiding one of the most advanced... V12s ever built. The controversial 7 Series with the most advanced V12 of its time. Launched in 2002, the E65 polarised buyers with its bold “Bangle butt” styling, but under the bonnet was engineering brilliance. The 760i featured the new 6.0-litre N73 V12, also seen in Rolls Royce, producing 438 HP with direct injection, one of the most sophisticated naturally aspirated V12s ever fitted to a saloon. Effortless thrust, whisper-quiet refinement (all though this one is a little modified), and the ability to cruise at 250 km/h without breaking a sweat. Misunderstood then, respected now, I think the facelift examples are an amazing looking car. BMW E65 760ishow more
