Mercedes 300CE-24. One of the best looking coupes Mercedes... made from that era. The pillarless C124 design alone makes it special. This version uses the M104 24-valve straight six instead of the 12v, which was one of the better engines offered in the W124 lineup. Smooth, strong and very much part of classic Mercedes engineering. There were a lot of good powertrains available in these coupes and even an AMG, but the 300CE-24 is a sweet spot. Manual versions also existed, which makes the car even more interesting today, although they’re quite rare. Sometimes I still think a 500CE with the M119 V8 would have made this car even better.show more

Life update: It’s been kinda hard the past two... weeks. I’ve been trying to live normally but honestly it’s still hard. Been in and out of hospitals, figuring out surgery (keeps getting delayed), trying to work (hard to focus and sleep), travel for conferences, run Touchdown (was supposed to start fundraising two weeks ago). I’m very lucky to be alive, I was worried I was gonna go blind in my left eye. I was a passenger and FSD was on, so it’s honestly just made me really curious. How does perception actually work? How does the car identify and classify objects? Is all the inference done on the vehicle? Imma always support Elon Musk and I’ll always have tremendous respect for everyone at Tesla and Tesla_AI pushing the boundaries of engineering to help humanity. Engineering is extremely hard and no matter how hard you try you can’t get all edge cases. But I genuinely want to understand the engineering challenges behind FSD and autonomous driving. Is there anyone at Tesla_AI or Tesla I can talk to go thru this? I want to see how I can help make autonomous driving safer.show more

Eight students were killed after a Tamil Nadu-registered seven-seater... car crashed into a parked goods lorry on National Highway 66 in Kerala's Thrissur district late on Friday night. The accident took place around 11.40 pm on September 4 at Panambikkunnu in Kaipamangalam. According to preliminary information, the car was travelling from Guruvayur towards Kodungallur when it collided with the rear of the parked lorry. The lorry was reportedly stationed near a diversion on an under-construction stretch of National Highway 66. Traveling at high speed, the driver apparently missed a diversion barricade and slammed into the parked lorry's rear, as per media reports. Six students died instantly at the scene, while two others were declared dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital, according to police. Police confirmed that all eight occupants,young men from Tamil Nadu believed to be engineering students, died in the crash. Authorities recovered student identification cards from the vehicle, with preliminary reports indicating they attended an engineering college in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu. The impact of the collision was severe, leaving the car badly mangled. Rescue personnel faced difficulties in removing the occupants from the wreckage and had to cut open the vehicle to retrieve the bodies. Fire and rescue personnel, police officials and local residents were involved in the rescue operation. The bodies were subsequently shifted to the mortuary at Thrissur Medical College for further procedures and identification. Preliminary reports also said CCTV footage captured the car travelling along the highway shortly before the crash. The footage and other evidence are expected to form part of the investigation into the circumstances leading to the collision, according to the reports. Police have initiated an investigation into the accident. Authorities are examining the road conditions, the positioning of the parked lorry and other factors that may have contributed to the crash.show more

The Japanese actually make really great cars and my favorite is Toyota.
