Infant sleep can be such a tricky thing. Just... as soon as you get reaccustomed to resting through the night, all of a sudden your baby reverts to waking multiple times a night. Welcome to the 8 month sleep regression. Interruptions in sleep patterns often coincide with the development of new skills and somewhere around 8 months you’re due for the biggest of them all. That’s because your baby is becoming mobile - and putting all the skills together to roll, crawl, and even pull to a stand in their crib. For infants this is a HUGE breakthrough. Imagine having spent your entire life mostly stationary, with your ability to pursue your own interests - or even adjust your view - subject to the whims of a caregiver. Somewhere between 6-9 months most babies begin discovering a host of new abilities. And let’s face it, some of them are a lot more entertaining than sleep. The good news (at 3am) is that the novelty here is temporary…but there are some important ways you can help your baby to navigate this period safely. Perhaps the most important one is illustrated in this video. And that’s adjusting the height of your child’s crib mattress to its lowest level. With newborns and immobile infants, it’s often convenient to elevate their mattress so they can be placed into and retrieved from the crib more easily. But when your baby begins pulling to a stand it’s critical that you lower their mattress to prevent accidental falls. Babies are top heavy and can easily go tumbling out without such adjustments. You may also find that your baby masters pulling to a stand faster than they master sitting back down - which can create a crib dilemma and a need for assistance. You can navigate through this phase more quickly by providing lots of wakeful practice in both standing and sitting, which may involve gently guiding your little one to bend their legs at the knee - or even placing an appealing toy on the ground near their feet to incentivize sitting back down. hello everyone! 🤍 as you already know, i am... a wheelchair user that has to use a wheelchair most of the time because im a fall risk & in chronic pain unfortunately, the Medline one i was gifted is extremely heavy and since im weak, i cannot push myself around in it. my bf has to do all the heavy lifting and pushing, which takes away from the independence i want as an adult. so, i am officially starting a "fundraiser" towards a custom wheelchair that my insurance refuses to pay for because i am "not disabled enough". achieving this would help me a TON. i want to be able to push myself around freely and be able to get to places on my own without relying on other people. sometimes i cant even use the wheelchair because its too heavy for my mom (caregiver) to get in and out of the car and i risk hurting myself by walking. i have tried three times with my insurance to have them cover it but unfortunately thats how the US rolls and i gotta find other solutions! How do you turn a scene idea into a... Prompt? All you need to do is roughly describe what's in your head to an LLM. It doesn't have to be perfect or highly detailed. Once it understands the core idea, it can help turn it into a well-structured prompt. In my case, I use a custom skill file that I built myself. After I provide the idea, it generates both a storyboard and video prompts for me. I then review the outputs and refine them through iteration, giving feedback like "make this shot wider," "change this action," or "move the camera here." After a few rounds of adjustments, I usually arrive at the final result. The process is much closer to directing than writing a perfect prompt from scratch. The Idea: Two characters face each other. Serenity fights like a Wing Chun master. She unleashes a rapid barrage of punches into Ruk's abdomen. The fight should feel highly energetic and sakuga-driven, with exaggerated action beats and dynamic choreography. Use 14 panels. I just built my own wiki generator plugin for... my agents. My agents can now generate wikis for anything I ask. One of my favorite wikis is called PaperWiki. This is a great example of what Andrej Karpathy describes. It uses obsidian vaults to organize papers, retrieve LLM-generated summaries, diagrams, and other advanced views for paper exploration. When Obsidian UI is not enough, I use my own artifact generator inside my agent orchestrator (see clip for example). This allows my agents to build any kind of view or exploration feature that I need. The papers are all curated with automations and several rules/patterns I have manually built over the years. On the surface, this looks basic. But behind the scenes, there are advanced search capabilities, connections, metadata, derived data, and other interesting bits of information that are extremely useful for my research agents. This is mostly built for agents. The artifact preview is just a high-level way to validate and quickly assess the quality of the wiki, suggest improvements, and it's also great for research. I use tobi lutke's qmd for all search capabilities. Everything is markdown. The summaries and even the diagrams. The wiki updates on its own based on several automations I have optimized over the past couple of weeks. The wiki grows and self-improves based on several requirements important for my research use cases. This is as personalized as it gets. There is nothing like it out there. And I use my research expertise to continue improving it over time. This is a vanilla wiki. There are so many things I want to build on top of this. Different aggregations, views, artifacts, etc. All to help automate more of my research work and accelerate productivity. I think the biggest leverage here is how powerful this could be for discovery and experimentation. One of my goals is to use it to find deeper connections and insights that would otherwise elude the top human researchers and use those to generate interesting new hypotheses and research experiments.
