My first offer for my first job in tech... was part-time as an intern making $12.00/hr. I was a 46-year-old man with a wife, kids, and a mortgage but I accepted it. I had no idea days later I'd be called for an additional interview and as a result of that interview have the offer bumped up to a fulltime role. I had no idea but I was willing to take the leap. I'm sharing pieces of the offer letter because Claire Huxtable said "let the record show" 😂. I was so excited I started to make the video below. While I never finished the video, I have taken advantage of numerous opportunities since then to tell my story and share an example for other adults considering a transition into a technical career. Some relevant things in this short clip is that it is filmed from the "lonely loft" I've spoken of in numerous podcasts and Twitter spaces. You'll see a goals board behind me which I have spoken about many times as well. Those stories aren't fairy tales; this is my life. You'll notice on the board a goal of being hired in 2017.
