A good guideline is to save boost for when you’re making a play on the ball and use your movement to get to the ball. This is an example of a justified punch. As... you can see the guy is merely holding his arms out the entire time trying to get the guy to hold back/deescalate the situation, the black guy swats his hand (this counts as a physical attack) the guy doesn't back down so he punches. Hills I will die on as someone who has... coached high school football for over 29 years: 1. If you are not PASSIONATE about blessing, serving, and empowering those you are blessed to coach, this profession is not for you. 2. As much as we need to know our trade, getting to know (and to love), our players is far more important. 3. This is an INTENSE game, and it’ll never be “just a game”, but it IS a game. Remember that when you’re with your team, and more importantly, remember that when you’re with your family. 4. Just as we teach our athletes to “leave things better than they found them”, we need to leave our athletes better than they were when they first entered into our program. Never let a day pass without pouring into each and every individual. 5. Life is complicated enough, let’s not complicate the game in such a way that we take the joy of it away from others. In other words… Keep it simple. 6. Our words carry little (or NO), value, if we don’t practice what we preach. WE as coaches should be learning and growing each and every day, just as we expect our athletes to. 7. As much as we all want to win those championship rings for our athletes, make sure you don’t lose your wedding ring in the process. 8. The athlete that may be “difficult to reach/teach” (the one who may get on your last nerve more than you could ever imagine), is someone’s EVERYTHING. ANATOMY OF A DELAY PICK @ 3B 1) Momentum... game changer. 2) Low risk especially with a LHH if you practice it. 3) Based on base runner relaxing & taking his eyes off the catcher assuming he is going to throw the ball back to the pitcher when he sees him going to his knees. 4) Throw must be directed up & into fair territory so as not to hit the runner or have the 3B screened out by the runner. 5) Third baseman positions closer to 3B so can casually move to 3B to receive the throw so you don’t alert the 3B coach. IMO THIS IS TRULY A LOW RISK PLAY. IF YOU ARE A SAFETY 1ST LOW/NO RISK PLAYER OR COACH, THIS IS PROBABLY NOT FOR YOU. It's nail night! This little man has huge paws... and fast growing nails. He's been carefully introduced to the Dremel and doesn't fear it all. However sitting still long enough is a challenge for him so instead of spending a lot of time getting them really short, he gets just a little buzzed off and a bite of chicken or other high value treat every nail. Because it's a fast session they get done at least once a week. We start off with a quick sniff and paw touches on the Dremel so he's reminded it's a safe thing and essential to getting the treats. As he gets older and has more patience, he'll get longer, better trims and they won't need to be done as often but short sessions now keep him from getting frustrated and starting to really dislike the process.
