I built a plugin to generate 3D assets directly... from Codex, using the latest update that introduces image generation. It generates an image, calls the Tripo3D API, then starts an MCP server and a local viewer directly inside Codex. It uses the paid Tripo3D API (12 free generations, 600 credits included). We've been working hard on nailing the transitions and... feel of open and closing columns. Feeling really good about where we've likely landed. Little burst of color at the top when a column opens to reiterate that's the column that changed. Cards load instantly. The column you closed gets a little bounce when it collapses. Very fluid and satisfying. You just want to play with it. Almost like a fidget. Business software doesn't have to be boring, bland, or corporate.show more

Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of jelly-like UI... components, so I decided to make my own in #glsl, running on WebGL! I adapted the volumetric raymarching technique I use in my shaders and built a custom SDF for an iridescent keycap-style button that works as either a slider or a simple push button. The jelly feel comes from elastic easing functions that drive the SDF deformation. The scale, rotation, background, and color palette are all fully configurable.show more

One of my favourite things about building Superlogical is... that we all care, a disproportionate amount, about the little conveniences, performance gains and UI treats that most rational people just don’t. I'm currently working on our scrollback search UI. You basically have two common choices as a designer: a) insert a toolbar into the view or b) float a search bar over the view For terminals, any intrinsic size change causes a reflow - which is jarring for the user to see and potentially pushes offscreen something you were looking at. This means option A sucks. For option B though, the problem is that you’re potentially obscuring matched words that fall under the search UI since it floats over them. (Every app I tried makes this mistake which is kinda nuts) So what's the solution? Give our search UI a gentle nudge out the way when it's over something you're trying to see.show more

The worst take about the web is that you... should not use JS/React/etc because HTML alone is good enough. It's an 'austerity mind virus' that has captured even some smart engineers. The idea that the web is for 'documents' and if it stays in its own little box like 1995 it's going to somehow be better for the world. This is how we ended up with Safari having the most obnoxious limitations, including a back/forward navigation gesture that makes the web feel like a horrendous 'digital book' of sorts. No, the web is also for dynamic, rich, interactive applications. JS is a key ingredient in the recipe, otherwise every click and interaction will have to hit a server, feel slow, and we'll always be a second class citizen. The web's developer freedom & better deployment model will win in the end, but it can't come at the expense of quality.show more

The new Product Page Header image in the App... Store will not matter. First you need users to actually want to enter your App Store listing. And the reality is that a lot of users NEVER enter the listing. They search for something, see the app in the search results and download it directly from there. So the important update here is the new Search Results image. It's an app banner inside the App Store search results. And you should think about it as a persuasive ad. COPYWRITING will be what matters. Not the fancy "branding". Users are searching because they want an answer to something. Your creative needs to give them that answer immediately. And this becomes even more important with Apple Ads. You can pay to appear for the keyword, but your creative still needs to convince the user that your app is the answer they were searching for.show more

Midjourney sref + Sora 2 Pro is the sauce.... With one Midjourney style image, you can give a specific style for your entire project. I created two different 12-second clips and edited them together. Some details aren’t fully consistent, like the iPod or AirPods because the clips were made separately from a single image (Character in a specific style). It could be fixed in post-production, but that would take more time, and this was more of an experimental test. It would be great to add the actual product image with the current one to maintain product consistency. I feel like if there were a way to add 2–4 images into this workflow, it could open up a lot more possibilities and consistency. With an API, it could be possible. Or let’s see what Veo 3.1 has to offer.show more
