So it turns out, it's more than just the... name that Apple borrowed. iPhone Duo is the first folding phone I've seen copy the Surface Duo's unique multitasking and windowing system pretty much 1:1! iPhone Duo can treat each half of the folding display as separate, letting you dock an app to one side and view your home screen on the other, just like Surface Duo. The gestures for multitasking are identical between iPhone Duo and Surface Duo too. You drag an app to the side you want and it fills that half of the screen. You can pick the app up and move it to the other side, and everything will dynamically adjust. It even does the "automatic" multitasking that I've raved about on Surface Duo. If you open a link in an app, it'll move the app over and open the link in your browser. Surface Duo did this, and now iPhone Duo does too. I've been waiting for a folding phone to copy the Surface Duo's unique multitasking and windowing behavior, and we finally have one in the form of iPhone Duo. Well done, Apple. Between the wide form factor like Surface Duo, the pen support like Surface Duo, and now the multitasking like Surface Duo... My software experience on the iPhone 16 has been... very irritating! 😣 iOS18 is currently filled with bugs, such as - - The keyboard goes missing (1st video) - Auto rotation failure (2nd video) - Photos sometimes load in a minimised manner (3rd video) - The keyboard starts to lag while typing (4th video) Apple desperately needs to release a software update to make iOS more stable. Apple put a nano-texture layer on the iPhone Duo,... but I don’t think it was the right move. Yes, it’s effective for hiding the crease. But as someone who’s used several folding phones, I know that crease is NOT as big an issue as people make it to be. It’s hardly noticeable once you use your fold for more than a few days. However, the lack of contrast is a much bigger dealbreaker on nano-texture/matte displays. I don’t like matte screens at all. To the point I’d even trade my monitor’s matte screen for a glossy one, even tho it would mean dramatically more reflections. I’d take the reflections over the lack of contrast. A matte screen is like turning your OLED into an IPS for no reason.show more

so, i might have been wrong.... i've been looking... into AI UGC a little bit more and it's actually kind of insane the video you see below took $2 to make and the only visible problem (might) be the audio i know ecom brands using ai ugc for there organic and paid doing over $1M/mo i'm still bullish on real human clipping and ai content but considering how much ai ugc has improved over the last few months... it's going to be interesting to see how the content marketing world changes this yearshow more

I deal with bugs like this on my Z... Fold 8 every now and then, but barely mention them because somehow sharing my experience makes me a “Apple Glazer” 😂 Sometimes reels I try post to Instagram has no audio. I could go on n on. A phone that costs over $2K shouldn’t be this frustrating to use. Hopefully the iPhone DUO delivers a smoother experience.show more
