Amazon Prime Air Flight 7598 from San Juan, Puerto... Rico, overran Runway 30 at Miami International Airport and crashed around 2 p.m. local time. The aircraft left the pavement, crossed a perimeter road, struck multiple vehicles, came to rest in a field near an Amazon warehouse area and caught fire with heavy smoke. The airport issued a ground stop and closed all runways and taxiways. The FAA and NTSB are investigating. No emergency was declared on approach, per ATC audio reviews.show more

Just before 12:30 Monday afternoon, the FDNY responded to... a 4-alarm fire at 44-49 College Point Boulevard in Queens. Tragically, four people lost their lives in this fire. Two other victims were transported to area hospitals in critical condition. During operations, a stairwell collapsed, trapping two of our members. They were transported to area hospitals in stable condition. More than 230 firefighters and EMS personnel responded. “This is a difficult and tragic day. There were several victims in this fire. The Fire Department did an extraordinary job under difficult circumstances, putting this fire out and saving people. I can't thank them enough for their continued efforts and commitment to life safety,” said Fire Commissioner Lillian Bonsignore. “Upon arrival, we had heavy fire on all three floors of this building. There was a victim trapped on the second floor, which our members removed with a portable ladder. As our engine companies were moving in from the first floor and up the stairs to the second floor, the stairs collapsed, and those two members were trapped in the stairs. With additional help, we were able to extricate those members. As all that is happening, other members are performing CPR on the victims in the street,” said Chief of Fire Operations Kevin Woods. It is worth noting that In November 2024, another Amazon Prime Air Boeing 767 overran the runway at Vancouver International Airport. The aircraft reportedly crossed the runway end at around 109 knots, travelling roughly 1,250 ft beyond the paved surface before the nose gear collapsed. All three people on board survived. Now, less than two years later, another Amazon-linked 767 has suffered a runway overrun this time at Miami International Airport, with a van carrying 7 people struck by the aircraft. Two serious 767 overruns. Very different circumstances. But the similarities demand a hard look at aircraft performance, braking, runway safety and stopping distance. While there were a total of 181 people onboard... Jeju Air Flight 2216, rescue authorities suspect almost all others, except for two people rescued, were also killed in the crash. According to fire department officials, 173 Korean and two Thai passengers as well as six crew members were onboard the Jeju Air flight that departed Thailand at 1:30 a.m. and was scheduled to land at the airport at 8:30 a.m. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident. One person is dead after a fire broke out... at a three-storey mixed-use building near 132 Avenue and 82 Street in northeast Edmonton last night. Fire crews were called to the scene at 9:19 p.m., with the building housing businesses on the ground floor and apartments on the two floors above. The entire building was evacuated and 11 fire crews responded, with between eight and 10 ambulances also dispatched to the scene. It has not yet been confirmed how many people were injured, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Edmonton Police Service closed 82 Street in both directions between 137 Avenue and Yellowhead Trail to allow emergency crews to respond, citing “a collision and fire” in the area without providing further details. Sports 🥹🥹 At about the 70 minute mark last... night during Palmeiras and Inter Miami, a family of five came into our section. All 3 kids wore Miami colors. According to the parents, they weren’t necessarily the biggest Miami fans — they just loved Messi. The oldest kid, maybe 6/7, was mesmerized by the Palmeiras fans constantly on their feet screaming and chanting. I’m not sure he quite understood what was being said but after a little bit, he decided to join in. By the end of the match, his Miami jersey was off, he was screaming at the top of his lungs and he was high-fiving Palmeiras supporters. And the Brazilian club might have picked up a new fan in the process. After being around sports for long, you sometimes forget its unifying power and what effects it can have on people.show more

At 9:52 a.m. Saturday, the FDNY received a report... of a fire at 132-17 41st Road in Queens. Upon arrival, units encountered two buildings fully involved in fire with extension to a third building. "Our engine companies moved in with multiple handlines in all of these buildings—very aggressively, very deliberately," Chief of Fire Operations Kevin Woods said. "Many lives are saved by the proper positioning of hoselines." With a report of people trapped, members from Rescue 4 got above the fire on the second floor of the main fire building and rescued an occupant. They made the rescue under high heat and in zero visibility without the protection of a hoseline. There was a total of 21 injuries—17 firefighters and two EMS members suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Two civilians were also injured and transported to area hospitals. More than 250 firefighters and EMS members responded to the 5-alarm fire, which was placed under control at 1:47 p.m. The cause remains under investigation.show more

Alhamdolillah, a major tragedy was averted today at Indigo... Tower, Gulberg. Upon receiving reports of a fire in the basement, the Emergency Response Team was immediately mobilised. Minister Energy Faisal Khokhar, Commissioner, DC and all concerned officials are present on site to oversee the operation. The explosion of the air-conditioning system boiler was severe; however, due to the swift, professional and heroic response of Rescue 1122 and the Fire Brigade, the fire was brought under control with zero casualties. It is reassuring to note that the newly installed fire hydrants were fully functional and freshly implemented SOPs were in place which played a critical role in containing the incident. Strict directives have been issued: All commercial boiler and cylinder installations across Punjab must fully comply with safety standards. There were also demonstrative Russian strikes on our airports overnight – in Kyiv and Boryspil. Deliberate, for the first time in a while. Clearly, these Russian strikes on the airports are a reaction to the discussions and preparations for the possibility of the U.S. side using an aircraft to travel to Ukraine and land at Kyiv Airport or Boryspil Airport. Russian-Iranian “shaheds” in response to American diplomacy. We have taken note of this Russian move, and next week we will adjust our operation accordingly regarding Russian airspace, which has become dangerous because of our drones and missiles in the sky. Phantom Global driver Loek Hartog (car #79), who was nearby and not involved in the incident, stopped and was the first person who assisted Ollie Millroy and subsequently removed the injured driver from the wreck. After that, he went back to his car and to Phatom Global garage utterly devastated and crying nonstop. While pulling Ollie Millroy free from the blaze, Hartog also sustained minor injuries to his hands. Additionally, he inhaled large amounts of fumes that lead to a discomfort in his lungs. On 11th August, 2025, I was involved in a... ghastly accident on my way from Kumasi to Accra with my friend, an accident that almost took our lives. The accident happened around 4:00 am, just a few minutes’ drive from Nkawkaw. In those moments after the crash, fear took over. Help was not coming, and at a point, I genuinely feared for our lives. I kept thinking the car might catch fire as we were helpless. We both sustained serious injuries: the bone in my thigh got broken, and my friend suffered fractures in both legs. I was admitted at St. Joseph Hospital for 22 days, where I underwent surgery and received all my treatments. After the surgery, the pain was unbearable and i even forgot how to walk. I stayed indoors for a long time, battling both physical pain and depression. There were days and nights I cried endlessly, holding on to hope and praying to get better. I feared our legs might never be the same again. Today, I am grateful to say that we are both doing well. From the depths of my heart, I extend my sincere gratitude to my friends and family, the doctors, surgeons, nurses, and everyone who stood by me during this extremely trying period. Shortly after 5 pm yesterday, Deputies responded to a... call for a dog in distress in the area of 228th and Harney Street, just south of Waterloo. When they arrived they were informed by homeowners that a dog had fallen through the ice on the lake and was treading water. Deputy Kubik, a DCSO K9 handler, made use of a kayak that was on one of the homeowner's docks and quickly made his way across the ice, using his oar to break the ice as he paddled to the dog. About the time he reached the dog, Waterloo Fire & Rescue also arrived and assisted in pulling Deputy Kubik and Boomer the dog back to shore. Once on shore, Deputy Clark took the 'chilly dog' inside to warm him up with a hair dryer. We are happy to report that after a brief vet visit yesterday, Boomer is doing great.
