Watch his hands and arm motions - he has copied this well from watching a lot of documentary coverage of Hitler. Anyone bombarded with the History Channel back in the day will see the imitation, that he did it well. But his screaming and yelling is over the top. Maybe the director wanted him to do this. But Bruno Ganz in Downfall handled the explosions better by making them less frequent, and more angry than hysterical in an almost feminine way. This is Hopkins in 1981. He played Richard Nixon in 1995, a role that was maybe even more unlikely for him. But I think he did a great job. Maybe his talent had increased in those 14 years.show more
