Gather - work in progress what if your notes... app felt more like a physical notebook? you can have pages with your notes, your tasks, your thoughts, your inspiration and organize them in a way that is meaningful to you. each page is a little canvas. it might look a little bit like a gimmick, but once you try it, you might feel differently. when designing Gather, Ajay Sabs and i draw our inspiration more than anything from physical things. we’ve always wanted to try and re-create some of the feelings and romanticism we associate with physical notebooks, books and magazines. we’ve always felt there was something special about how pages have an order and how you’re mind creates visual and spatial connections depending on how things are organized - particularly things that you’ve written, revisit often or have a significance to you. the notebook view is an idea we’ve played with for a very long time. and its a lot more than just swiping between pages. this is just a little peek. we are also working on other views that are optimized for different use-cases and different modes of thinking. we’re excited to share some of those soon.show more

Get to your back swing and jump favoring your lead foot left and laterally like I am. With that feeling step in and hit one. Not where you are pushing off from when you swing and try and get that into a feeling that makes sense to you. This is how power is created in the golf swing. I think one of the biggest problems with AI... agents right now is how much control we give up just to use them. Most AI agent platforms want you to work inside their ecosystem, use their preferred models, and trust them with your files and data. That might be convenient, but I don't think it should be the only option. I recently came across PilotDeck, and I found its approach pretty interesting. It's an open-source AI agent workspace developed by Tsinghua University's THUNLP, ModelBest, OpenBMB, and AI9Stars. The idea is simple: instead of being tied to one AI provider, you should have more freedom to decide how your agent works. And there are a few things worth looking at here. First, model independence. Most people focus on which AI model is the smartest, but I think having the freedom to choose your model is equally important. PilotDeck supports different model providers and configurable API endpoints. This means you're not necessarily stuck with one company's models. You can choose a setup based on your budget, performance needs, or the type of task you're working on. For developers who regularly experiment with different AI models, I think that's a pretty useful approach. Second, privacy and control over your workspace. This is probably the part that interests me the most. AI agents are increasingly being used to handle research papers, financial documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and other personal or business files. And once you start giving an agent access to that kind of information, where your files are processed becomes an important question. PilotDeck supports local workspaces and offers options for local or private deployment. That gives users more flexibility over how their environment is configured, rather than relying entirely on a closed platform. Of course, privacy still depends on which model provider and API you connect. Using a local workspace doesn't automatically mean your data never leaves your device. But having the option to control the setup is a meaningful difference. Third, it's designed to actually complete work. Another thing I like about the approach is that PilotDeck isn't just trying to be another chatbot. It's built around an agent workflow where you describe a task, the system plans the steps, works with files, uses tools, and produces an output you can still edit. For example, imagine giving an AI agent multiple research documents and asking it to organize the information into an Excel spreadsheet and prepare a PowerPoint presentation. Instead of getting a long text response that you need to manually copy into different applications, the goal is to have the agent handle the workflow and deliver usable files. It also supports task history, result previews, switching models, and changing instructions while a task is running. I think this is where AI agents become more practical for everyday work. And finally, there's the open-source aspect. Personally, I think we're going to see more demand for AI tools that don't force users into one vendor's ecosystem. Models are improving quickly, and the best option today might not be the best option six months from now. Having an agent workspace that can work with different models makes a lot more sense to me than rebuilding your entire workflow every time you want to switch providers. There are still things I'd want to test properly, especially how reliable it is on longer tasks, how easy the setup is for non-technical users, and what the actual privacy trade-offs are with different model configurations. But I like the direction PilotDeck is taking. I don't think the future of AI agents should be about which company controls your entire workflow. It should be about how much control you have over the tools doing the work. And that's why I think open-source, model-independent projects like PilotDeck are worth paying attention to. Is your toddler suddenly throwing (or dropping) everything they... get their hands on? Food, toys… you name it. You’re not alone. This week I’ve been introducing play schemas, 9 common patterns that can help to demystify your toddler’s seemingly random behaviors. And you guessed it: this is one. We call it the trajectory schema. If you take nothing else away from this post, let it be this: your little one doesn’t throw things because they are misbehaving or “bad.” Babies throw things because they are babies. And they are learning as they do so. Learning about cause and effect. Learning about gravity. Learning what (and practicing something new) they can do with their bodies. Learning hand-eye coordination. It’s a completely normal part of development. And the fascination won’t last forever. The real question is, how do you manage it? First, be proactive. Expect that anything your little one handles might reasonably be thrown or dropped. So choose wisely, avoiding items that are valuable or might pose a danger to them or others if they suddenly took flight. Second, depending on the age of your child, begin introducing some natural consequences. Put the toy/object away temporarily after it is thrown (if throwing it is dangerous or inappropriate). And involve your child in the subsequent clean-up. You can also redirect. Explain which things are and are not for throwing. Model the correct use of these objects. Finally, lean into it. Recognizing that young children are drawn to throwing, provide items that are safe and acceptable to throw. Soft toys. Socks. Balls. Grip a club in your lead hand. Observe how... twisting your forearm changes the angle of the face. This is largely what controls where your ball flies. Small differences in this angle lead to huge changes in shot direction. This precision is not being trained in the gym with “golf exercises”. Poor control of this face angle is what leads to a whole host of swing issues. More so than physical limitations. For example, it is far more likely you come over the top in an effort to stop the ball going right because your face is wide open and you’ve seen the ball go right the last 5000 times than it is you lack hip or shoulder mobility. It would be beneficial for me as a trainer to say otherwise, but I just don’t believe it to be true. Use the gym to work on your physical capabilities. Improve your mobility, strength, and power. These are the things you are losing as you age. Leave the swing mechanics for your practice and golf lessons. If you try to “fix your swing in the gym” you will likely do a poor job of training your swing and your body.show more

It’s been a year since the company I helped... start shut down. It was one of those ideas that felt truly “net-positive” for the world, and truly helped people on a personal level. So, over this last year I worked on 2 things — searching for an idea that feels net-positive and something people could connect with on a deep, personal level. Lyrics: Daily Music Widget - an app that shows you song lyrics from your favorite artists, right on your home screen 2. one year - another app that shows how many days of growth you’ve had in a year Both of these apps had their ups and downs, but they made me realize some pretty cool things: - I want my apps to feel great to use - I want me apps to do one thing really well - I want my apps to feel like a human made them - and, I want my apps to always be made with other people So, two months ago I took those concepts, went to visit in SF, and started on an idea that I truly felt could change the way people live their daily lives. And, it’s launching today. This is Find Your Faith, an iPhone app that helps you discover a spiritual path that resonates with you, or helps you dive deeper into a faith you already practice. We started this as a way to help us with our own spiritual journeys. We wanted to explore different faiths in a way that was authentic to us. The beauty about spirituality is there is no deadline on when you should “figure out what you believe in” lol. It’s really something to check in on during the different seasons of your life. And, there isn’t just one way to do it. Some people may enjoy reading religious text, or others may prefer being in the presence of something greater than them. At the end of the day, these are just ways to give yourself the space to explore really tough questions and concepts. That’s what Find Your Faith (or fyf) does — helps you understand where you are on your journey, no matter where you may be, and gives you the space to sit in these questions every day. Spending some time with my family remind me of... when is was little and I used to think being wealthy meant being able to afford more. 💸🦋🍄 But wealth isn’t about how much you can afford to spend, it’s about how much of your time you can afford to keep. Every dollar you spend is a piece of your life you traded to earn it. Spend $100, and you’re spending the time it took to create that $100. I stopped asking, can I afford it? And changed it for, is this really worth my time? Because the goal isn’t to work more so you can spend more. The goal is to build enough wealth that your time belongs to you.
