There is a state park by me that closes... when the sun goes down for safety reasons. I always see people find a way in there to do what they need to do. No matter what they do mayor be add a gate or even have more law enforcement, there’s no stopping it. These people are sitting in their car. They see people walking in and out of the woods while they are sitting there eating and chatting. The people going in and out look so out of place, like they are in a zombie apocalypse. If I saw people just struggling in and out of the woods, looking dirty, no flashlights at all. I would think they are up to something. For generations, Orthodox Christians have asked Agios Fanourios for help revealing what is lost or hidden, not only things we have misplaced, but answers, direction and a path forward. His very name comes from faneróno: to reveal, to make known. So last night, I asked my wife baked a Fanouropita. She prayed while making it. I prayed over it. And this morning I brought it to church to be blessed. I’m not asking Agios Fanourios to help me find something I lost. I’m asking him to help me find myself again. For five years I’ve been sidelined. I haven’t worked. I haven’t built businesses. I haven’t created. People will test your patience. Someone asked me to... help her bring a gown that her tailor sewn for her. I told her that my luggage is full already but she pleaded that it was only "one dress", and I was forced to oblige make I no turn to a bad person. They brought the supposed "one dress" to my hotel now and see what they brought! I brought out my digital travel weighing scale, and to my biggest shock, the supposed one dress was weighing 4.30kg. When I opened the stuff to see what was in it, I was surprised to see four pairs of dresses and a slippers in it. People will indeed test your patience.show more

This is one of the nicest things about China:... whatever happens to you, you can always count on people's solidarity. This is what just happened to us. We wanted to park our RV right next to Hulun lake for the night but stupidly managed to get it stuck in the sand. Impossible to drive out anymore 😓 Immediately, and I mean immediately, people around us started to pitch in to help. Luckily it so happened that a group of ex-PLA soldiers were having a get-together barbecue 100 meters away from us. They got told about our issue, stopped their barbecue and came to help. They told us "don't worry, no matter what we'll get you out, it's just a matter of time". Before we know it, one of the guys takes the wheel of the RV and the others start pushing. In 5 minutes, job done! RV unstuck and the guys get back to their barbecue. The Chinese are often depicted as cold and distant but my consistent experience is that they're one of the kindest people in the world, always ready to help a fellow human in need!show more

Driving to my plane last night my heart swelled... with pride seeing the tens of US Air Force refueling planes parked at Ben Gurion airport. The US does not have a base at Ben Gurion. But when it needs assistance in maintaining and fueling its aircraft, Israel, as America’s best friend, is always willing to help.
