NEWS: Samsung is preparing to build a second chip... factory at its semiconductor cluster in Taylor, Texas. The first fab (below) is Samsung's new $25 billion chip fabrication facility that will help produce Tesla's future AI6 (HW6) chip. Samsung wants to expand and build a second chip fab as major U.S. tech companies line up to place their orders amid strained capacity at Taiwanese rival TSMC. The facility is a 40 minute drive from Tesla's Giga Texas factory. Last year, Tesla signed a $16.5 billion deal with Samsung to produce these AI6 chips, but Elon Musk says that number is "just the bare minimum. Actual output is likely to be several times higher." Various Tesla products such as their cars and their Optimus robot will use this AI6 chip. The first Samsung fab facility in Taylor is expected to be operational in 2026. If you look at the Optimus video that Tesla... just released more closely, you’ll notice how incredible this is. First, Optimus is walking blindly bc Tesla Vision is turned off. Second, Optimus is walking on mulched ground, which is naturally slippery. Third, Optimus is keeping its balance, only with other on-board sensors consumed by a neural net on its embedded computer. Fourth, notice how right before falling, Optimus quickly positions its left leg far back enough to prevent falling. Fifth, Optimus uses a combination of its arms and waste turning to maintain balance when tripping. I am of the belief that the Tesla Bot is going to make the EV, Energy, FSD, Robotaxi business in combination look like peanuts compared to what this product is going to do. Even the Autopilot menu is vastly different from what... we have in Europe For instance, I always set my forward collision warning to Late because the amount of alerts I’d get is freaking annoying FSD set on Early gives me the warnings in time over here Funnily enough there is no possibility to set a follow distance, it’s all AI, where you just select Chill, Normal or Hurry Honestly, UNECE there is no need to delay this any longer Just make the trip and drive FSD for a week and you’ll see it is super comfortable and safeshow more
