FSD appears to have trouble detecting barrier arm from a distance. It reacted only at the last second at high speed, attempted to move over, and ended up striking it. This looks like a supervision failure as much as an FSD failure.

Admittedly sometimes I roll my eyes when people say “I didn’t see that, FSD prevented an accident” well it happened to me the other day and now I totally understand. I looked to my left and it looked pretty damn clear to go but FSD stuttered and stopped I was ready to press the accelerator, like why aren’t you going bro! Then suddenly this guy on a scooter pops out of nowhere. Thanks FSD! 🙏

I really wish FSD would punch it to get out of a sticky situation like this. If the truck kept sliding over it would’ve gotten real dangerous as there is nowhere to go. Acceleration is also a defensive move Tesla AI

Joe shared the raw footage with me and fed it through CamCutApp Based on the telemetry it does appear that FSD turned the wheel back in the last moment before the driver took over. This happened really fast and probably pretty scary to experience. FSD seems to have reacted to a phantom orb and veered towards the oncoming vehicle for a moment.

Leaked FSD 14.3 telemetry footage. 👀 Looks like adjustable following distance is coming, possibly in response to recent complaints about aggressive following.

.28 seconds reaction time. With the click of a button you’ll be able to automatically create a video that measures FSD’s reaction time using CamCutApp. Probably my favorite feature One area where I’d like to see FSD improve: recognizing high-occlusion environments. Densely parked cars next to hidden driveways create situations where a vehicle can suddenly appear with little warning for either driver. Tesla AI

Super cool to see FSD track a hidden hazard on the road! FSD spots a tire ahead. The van in front runs it over. FSD tracks it through full occlusion and is already moving over before it reappears I didn’t want to take any chances at the end, so I took over

Insanely quick FSD reaction time when a pedestrian suddenly jumps out in front of it. From the moment the person’s head first becomes visible from behind a parked car to the moment FSD starts braking: 0.17 seconds. This dashcam video clip, including the reaction time measurement, is available in the new CamCutApp v1.1. Anyone can download it and explore the full project themselves. Bilal Sattar and I ran a series of reaction tests a few weeks ago. You really have to be inside the car to get the full experience

There is zero room for error here. 😬 The ability for FSD v12.3 to judge if an opposing car is going to stop or go on a yellow light is exceptional. This left on yellow is one of the most risky maneuvers to execute and I’m so glad that the team has worked on getting this perfected. Tesla AI you guys rock!! Still little quirks to improve like moving forward more in the middle of the intersection and following through a left on yellow behind a lead car but this is really promising! Elon Musk Tezmeeinc

Be honest how many of you are gonna let this slide to keep your FSD streak alive

FSD is so good it’s honestly boring. Except half a mile before an exit, when it decides to change left first… then rush the exit at the last second. Pretty sure FSD v14 is sentient and just messing with me.

The easiest way to check the reaction time of FSD. Catch a yellow light and smash that dashcam snapshot button. 200ms this time for FSD 14.3.2. not bad not bad. Looking for someone to beat that

FSD’s anticipation is honestly scary good. When you first watch it, the Prius just looks like it’s making a normal lane change from two lanes over. But FSD was already preparing for something more. Only after you play it back with telemetry do you realize it starts slowing down before the intent is obvious. The Prius was about to cut all the way into our lane.

I would say FSD is already better at merging than 99% of people out there. CamCutApp was released in the AppStore today 🎉 go try it out on your saved dashcam clips!

Below is official crash footage of my dad being rear-ended while using FSD v12.6.4 on his HW3 Model 3 earlier this year. The telemetry overlay was created using the new crash visualization tools in CamCutApp v1.1. Unfortunately, this experience completely destroyed his trust in FSD, and it’s going to be difficult to earn that trust back. In this case, traffic ahead was slowing down normally. There was no sudden stop or hard braking. For reasons that aren’t entirely clear, FSD delayed braking until Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) intervened and forced a much more aggressive stop. (Watch the autopilot status switch to “Aborting”) The driver behind failed to react in time and rear-ended my dad’s car. One of my biggest concerns with FSD v12 on HW3 is that its reaction timing could occasionally be inconsistent, making these situations difficult to supervise. Everything can appear normal until the system reacts a second or two too late. FSD v14 on AI4 has been a significant improvement, which is one of the main reasons I upgraded seven months ago. But i think it’s important not to forget that there are many people out there that are still using this outdated software and should be warned about its shortcomings. To my knowledge, CamCut is the first commercially available tool that can combine Tesla crash footage, telemetry logs, and official crash report data into a synchronized visualization of the entire event. The crash analysis tools are currently in beta. If you have Tesla crash footage you’d be willing to share to help improve the feature, I’d greatly appreciate it. Feel free to DM me.
