Made a quick haptic feedback prototype for hand-tracking interactions... with a voxel. Felt fun and engaging. It's another level of immersiveness (unfortunately, the video is not able to convey this). Visual design alone can make an interactive experience great, but if you want to make it exceptional, DIFFERENT, this is where haptic design plays the key role. The device on my wrist is from the Hapticlabs.io Prototyping Kit (the thing on my index fingertip is called Linear Resonant Actuator). It's a beautiful, simple-to-use tool. Found a good case for it in my experiments :) To get hand-tracking data, I used the Leap Motion controller (Computer Vision Camera), which is excellent for quick prototypes like this. I saw people experimenting with gloves to build a solid haptic feedback system for XR. It's great for advanced immersive experiences (video games/simulators/interactive entertainment). But for many day-to-day use cases (productivity/OS/media entertainment), having just a "simple" thimble that provides the haptic feedback for the "touching" fingertip will already significantly improve the UX. Hope we will have something like this from our major XR vendors in the near future.show more

I've been testing out Windows 11's new Haptic Signals... feature on compatible hardware, and I think I love it. I'm someone who yearns for small UX details like this, and I'm so happy to see Microsoft leaning into subtle but quality UX implementations like haptics across the Windows Shell. These new Haptic Signals provide a subtle bump when interacting with certain UI elements and actions, such as snapping app windows or dragging files in File Explorer. The feedback response feels great and intentional, and makes using the OS feel more satisfying. There's still room for improvement, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't impressed with this first implementation. It's only supported on a handful of devices for now, but that should change over time. I've always loved the haptic feedback layered throughout Google Pixel phones, and now Windows is getting its own version of it. More UX niceties like this, please!show more

Experimenting with the pretext library... saw a brick breaker... demo and had to try making it in PixiJS. Wanted to see what happens when you add WebGL/WebGPU shaders to the mix. Using bloom, glow, rgb split filters from pixi-filters. plus gsaps physics plugin for the text effect.show more

ahh so cool 🔥 highly recommend trying out Jakub's... /oklch-skill, perfect match for Paper generating, reworking and actually learning about this is so easy on a canvas... and pretty close to code with the MCP P3 gives us richer colors. OKLCH gives us more control over them, so we can build more consistent color systems. Paper supports both, and you can also bring agents to the party btw, tokens in Paper are just around the corner 👀 this is getting more fun every day!show more

Don't you have a haptic chair for VR gaming?... Don't worry, your friendly humanoid robot can help you with that! In a recent research paper from the University of Colorado, researchers experimented with using a humanoid robot to literally grab your chair and move it during VR racing sessions to make the game more realistic. And from the users' feedback, it seemed to work. I guess they took inspiration from those viral videos, where in some low-budget arcades, the owner literally moved the station with his own hands.
