I was deeply moved by this speech, given by... President Dr Mohammad Usman Suleiman, Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors NARD. As a Consultant, I acknowledge that, It is easy for Medical Elders to gradually forget the rigours of residency training, as we climb higher and higher. However, we must REMEMBER: Burnt out Doctors are DANGEROUS. Doctor Suleiman is right: “How are you sure Nigerian Doctors, will be at their best, to see Nigerians? It is safer to keep Nigerians away, from these exhausted Doctors” Protecting Doctors, is protecting Patients. Once again, I plead with the Government and our Medical Elders: Help us resolve this crisis asap. Please. Scarcity of Doctors ❌ Scarcity of Job &Distribution! ✅... People are unable to get doctors on time because the population has increased exponentially, while the government is still advertising doctor vacancies with an outdated, decades-old approach. In reality, every hospital now requires at least twice the number of doctors compared to earlier times. At the same time, the unchecked opening of medical colleges has created a flood of unemployed doctors, as Govt seats remain limited and unchanged. This imbalance is being exploited by unscrupulous elements, leading to Corruption! ! #medtwitter PMO India Ministry of Health Jagat Prakash Naddashow more

Imagine qualifying as a doctor in the UK, only... to be told there is no NHS training job for you in your home country. That is the reality facing thousands of UK medical graduates. The taxpayer invests in medical education. Medical graduates complete a five to six year demanding medical degree, graduate with debts often exceeding £100,000, and commit themselves to serving patients in the NHS. Yet in 2025, more than 40,000 applicants applied for just 10,000 specialty training jobs. Some doctors end up unemployed because they cannot find jobs as fully qualified doctors. These training posts are not optional extras. They are the route to becoming the specialist Consultants and GPs our NHS depends on. Without them, doctors cannot progress in their careers and patients ultimately lose future specialists. Yet UK medical graduates are not being prioritised for these NHS training jobs. Prioritising UK medical graduates for speciality training jobs is coherent workforce planning. At the same time, there must be safeguards for international doctors with significant NHS experience who are already contributing to patient care. Right now, the system satisfies no one. It creates unemployment, fuels insecurity, and weakens the future medical workforce. That is not sustainable and it must change.show more

40,000 doctors applied for just 10,000 specialty training jobs... in 2025. Tens of thousands were turned away because the number of NHS training jobs is capped by the Government. Doctors need these jobs to become specialist Consultants/GPs. Some are now facing unemployment. Others are stuck in short-term, insecure roles with no clear path to becoming a GP or Consultant. At the same time, patients are waiting weeks for GP appointments and months for surgery. We’re told there “aren’t enough doctors” - and that’s true. England has fewer doctors per person than many comparable European countries. So we’re an under-doctored country, while blocking thousands of doctors from progressing in their careers and helping cut waiting lists, If we don’t expand training numbers (including post CCT jobs), we won’t get the GPs and specialists patients urgently need. This is NHS workforce planning failure on a national scale.show more

What is happening at Saraswathi Institute of Medical Sciences,... Hapur? This is completely unacceptable. Doctors were reportedly protesting for a stipend hike, yet the manner in which they were allegedly treated raises serious concerns. We strongly urge UP POLICE and HAPUR POLICE to immediately intervene, ensure the safety of the doctors, and conduct a fair inquiry into the incident. Doctors demanding their legitimate rights are not criminals. They deserve to be heard with dignity and respect, not treated with force or intimidation. Dear Nigerians, "Patriotism means to stand by the country.... It does not mean to stand by the president." ~Theodore Roosevelt On this national scale, if the mass number of Nigerians are suffering, their lives and properties in jeopardy, it is okay to speak up, call a spade a spade and stop this gov from leading us astray. Now more than ever, we must unite. We must unite against the ruiners of Nigeria before they bury what is left of her. Organization is the first primary weapon of the oppressed. This is the only weapon we are yet to explore, and we can not explore this until we unite. The oppressed Nigerians must organize to form a force against the ruiners of Nigeria and take back our country to have a system that is for the benefit of the Nigerian people and not a few in the position of power. President will come and go, only the people will remain. Don't give those in power today to play politics with your future. Let's unite, not necessary as one but as a team. A team with different skills, languages culture, religion and tradition, but one CAUSE regardless of our tribal differences to stand against the common enemy who have now shown to be a curse on our very own existence as an amazing people of this great nation. ~OIA✊🏿show more

Muslim Woman Doctor Whose Niqab Was Forcibly Removed By... Indian Minister Refuses To Join Government Medical Service Dr Nusrat Parveen, whose Niqab was forcibly removed by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar while giving away appointment letters to newly recruited doctors, has decided not to join the government service. “She is determined not to join the service. However, all family members, including me, are trying to convince her otherwise. We are telling her that it is the fault of the other person, so why should she feel bad or suffer because of it,” the doctor’s brother told eNewsroom.show more

A young boy from Konnagar lost his life today... following a road accident, after BLEEDING FOR 3 HOURS WITHOUT RECEIVING MEDICAL ATTENTION, a consequence of the ongoing protest by doctors in response to the #RGKar incident. While the demands of the junior doctors are both fair and valid, I urge them to protest in a way that doesn't disrupt essential medical services. Allowing a death due to PREVENTABLE NEGLECT is tantamount to CULPABLE HOMICIDE. If the protest has to continue, it should be done constructively, with empathy and humanity, ensuring no more lives are put at risk through inaction or neglect. 🙏🏻show more

This is not fiction. A Nigerian pastor, a brother... of mine, has 9 members of his family hunted and slaughtered by Fulani terrorists. These are the realities our Nigerian brothers and sisters are facing alone. The church is absent. International community is absent. They are being hunted and slaughtered like animals and we in the west are simply watching. I am tired. I am sick of it. I am beyond burned. Who will be the one to stand at such a time as this? I refuse to be silent, I refuse to watch. At Building Zion we are rebuilding communities ravished by terrorists, restoring hope and life. In fact, we already have rebuilt communities in Reverend Ezekiel’s community. Help us, help them. They are alone in this, but I, and Building Zion stand hand in hand with them.show more

NOTE: The terrorists who killed these poor farmers will... be “begged” to accept pardon from the government, then pardoned with benefits, paid, praised, pampered and royally ushered into the Nigerian society to pursue dreams they cut short from thousands of Christians, even when it’s obvious over 95% of them aren’t Nigerians. Jewish Patients, Beware...(actually all non-Muslims) Hordes of pro-Hamas/Palestinian Doctors... and Medical providers, wearing white coats, adorned with sharia coverings, their necks draped in the Palestinian war scarves (keffiyeh) marched up Michigan Avenue, fervently chanting, 'no justice, no peace!'" What kind of medical care can Jewish and Israeli patients anticipate from Muslim doctors who openly endorse Hamas/Palestine and its violence? The dissemination of Jew hatred by Islamic medical professionals is not surprising when viewed in the context of their holy scriptures and teachings of the prophet. Jew hatred is mentioned throughout the Qur’an But it is not just Jewish patients that should be concerned... "There is no place in the Quran where Muhammad tells Muslims to love people of other religions. By contrast, there are at least three dozen verses that tell believers to fight against non-Muslims and about 500 that speak of their place in Hell. They are from each period in Muhammad’s life, scattered across 87 of the Quran’s 114 chapters. To put this in perspective, nearly one out of twelve verses in the Quran implies that Allah hates non-Muslims to the extent that he will torment them for eternity in horrible ways. The Suras that make reference to this comprise about 95% of the Quran’s total volume. If Allah creates infidels merely to fuel the fires of Hell, then there is little reason for Muslims to believe that such lives are of any worth in this world either." Today, at Redeemer’s University Redeemer's University, Ede, Osun State,... I was glad to commission the new Institute of Genomics and Global Health, marking a significant evolution from ACEGID’s @acegid status as a center of excellence. This moment is not only a proud achievement for all those involved, but it also stands as a powerful symbol of what African scientific leadership can achieve on the global stage. Under the visionary leadership of Prof Christian Happi Christian T. Happi, the team at ACEGID has made extraordinary strides in genomic research, particularly in addressing some of the most pressing infectious disease challenges of our time. The inauguration of the Institute reminds us that the work being done by the ACEGID team is a global public good, benefiting not only Nigeria and Africa but also contributing to global health security. The partnerships fostered between institutions and scientists from the Global North and South are a testament to our shared commitment to protecting and advancing human health. This collaboration has demonstrated what is possible when we work together to confront challenges that affect us all. Under the visionary leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Bola Ahmed Tinubu health security remains a central pillar of our broader strategy to transform Nigeria’s health system, unlock the value chain, and improve population health outcomes. This is why supporting cutting-edge scientific research, like the work at this Institute, is essential. We need to create a health system environment with strong public health capabilities to withstand the potential and evolving threats posed by infectious diseases and the ongoing impacts of climate change. The pace at which new health threats are emerging is accelerating, and with it, the need for robust scientific responses. The innovations in genomics we are witnessing at ACEGID provide a glimmer of hope, offering us the tools we need to be better prepared for what may come. The Federal Government of Nigeria Government of Nigeria is fully committed to supporting these efforts, knowing that science must lead the way in securing a healthier future for all.show more
