I genuinely think some people STILL do not WANT... TO understand the scale of what has happened in Iran. We are talking about a regime massacring tens of thousands of people in LESS than 48 hours, tortured people to death. A regime executing wounded protesters in hospitals, sexually assaulting nurses, separating heads from bodies, gang raping people for protesting, piling corpses on top of each other and forcing families to search through countless dead bodies hoping to find their loved ones. Families were forced to pay money just to retrieve the bodies of their murdered children. We have seen 100s and 100s of names already, yet most victims’ names will probably never even come out under Islamic Republic because many families do not even have the ability to tell the world what happened to their loved one, and some are simply trying to survive. And while all this was happening, the Islamic Republic continued arresting, torturing and executing more people. Right now, there are still people sitting in prisons listening to others being tortured in the next room, waiting in line for executions. There are still families searching for loved ones who disappeared so completely it is like they vanished off the face of the earth. With all due respect, statements referring to “all parties”... in the Mushaki tragedy risk obscuring the reality on the ground. The drone that struck Mushaki did not belong to “all parties.” It was launched by the Kinshasa regime against a densely populated civilian area, located hundreds of kilometers away from the frontline. When civilians are killed, clarity matters. Accountability begins with accurately identifying those responsible. Vague language, even when well-intentioned, can unintentionally embolden further attacks and deepen the suffering of innocent populations. Yesterday alone, at least 47 lives were changed forever. 9 hours of a national power outage in Portugal... and It felt like lockdown all over again. But here are 5 things I wouldn’t have expected.👇 1/ telephone networks went down very quickly too, so there were no comms 2/ no working ATMs, so no cash 3/ major supermarkets were cash only / closed - those that stayed open killed it 4/ trains down + no phones / apps left people resorting to hitch hiking to get home 5/ only a handful of petrol stations were working so not just EVs would grind to a halt pretty quickly People began stock piling water. Cars were initially gridlocked and the police were on the streets. There was a nervous energy in the air. But there was also a kind of excitement and then a calm. People were playing on quiet streets with their kids and gathering with friends. We had a bbq and found ourselves thinking of a cards against humanity card. Is this is how it ends? People started collapsing even while TVK Chief Vijay was... speaking. If you had seen the event yesterday, Vijay did give water bottles to people seeing them fainting when he started his speech.
