🇮🇹 Lancia Delta S4 Prototype Testing 🇫🇮 Markku Alen... Testing in this clip. Project Genesis: Development on the SE038 began in earnest around 1983–1984 to succeed the legendary rear-wheel-drive 037, as Lancia needed a four-wheel-drive contender to match the dominant Audi Sport Quattro and Peugeot 205 T16. Chassis & Layout: Unlike the production road car, which was a front-engine, front-wheel-drive hatchback, the Delta S4 was a bespoke, mid-engined space-frame machine covered in lightweight composite and fiberglass body panels designed to resemble the everyday Delta. Twin-Charging Innovation: The prototype showcased Lancia's groundbreaking twin-charging system—pairing an Volumex roots-type supercharger for instant low-end throttle response with a large KKK turbocharger that took over at higher RPMs. This eliminated turbo lag and provided immense power across the rev range. Testing Phase: Early prototype testing took place in secret across rough gravel tracks in Italy and snow-covered passes in the Alps. Drivers like Markku Alén and Henri Toivonen and others put early mules through rigorous endurance and handling evaluations, battling traction and cooling challenges inherent in shoving a high-boost twin-charged engine into a compact silhouette. The prototype eventually evolved into the race-ready Group B car that debuted and won on its very first outing at the 1985 RAC Rally. 🎥 Lancia 👏🏻👏🏻 #italy #lancia #motorsport #s4show more

🇮🇹 Lancia Delta S4 The Lancia Delta S4 is... a legendary Group B rally car first entered the WRC in the 1985 Lombard RAC Rally taking a famous 1,2 in its first event. The Delta famous for being the first to feature "twin-charging" (supercharger + turbocharger). It featured a 1.8-liter engine pushing over 500bhp, a space-frame chassis, and four-wheel drive, winning five World Rally Championship events before Group B was banned. 550 bhp in later development 140 mph depending on gearing and event. 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds on gravel. 890kg 1,759 cc inline-four equipped with a Volumex supercharger (for low-end) and a KKK turbocharger (for high-end), providing nearly instant boost and massive top-end power. 🇧🇪 This clip was taken during the 2025 Ardenne Rally Festival. 🇧🇪 The car running a bit rich 🔥🔥 🎥 Car Frequency 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 #wrc #lancia #italy #cars #belgiumshow more

🇮🇹 Lancia Delta S4 Matti Alamäki on a test... day with his Lancia Delta S4 back in 1987. Alamäki purchased the former factory Lancia Delta S4 for the 1987 season. Notably, this specific chassis was the same car that Miki Biasion had driven in the 1985 Sanremo Rally. Alamäki used the car to great effect in the European Rallycross Championship (ERC), where he finished as the runner-up in the standings for the 1987 season (the title was won by Seppo Niittymäki in a Peugeot 205 T16). Legacy: The car became a legendary piece of motorsport history. After its competitive days, it was eventually acquired by Finnish rally icon Juha Kankkunen, who restored it to its original Group B rally configuration and the iconic "Martini" livery it wore during its time with Biasion. Current Location: The car was later sold by Kankkunen to Lorenzo Bertelli (son of Prada's Patrizio Bertelli and Miuccia Prada), who is a rally driver himself and currently holds a leadership role at Versace. 🎥 Credit to original production team 👏🏻👏🏻 #wrc #italy #finland #lanciashow more

It used a turbocharged 2.1L five-cylinder, 200 HP, and... a permanent all-wheel drive system with manually lockable centre and rear differentials. Rally regulations at the time said nothing about AWD because nobody thought it was relevant. Audi entered anyway, and won the World Rally Manufacturers' Championship in 1982 and 1984, and the Drivers' Championship in 1983 and 1984. Only 400 cars were required for homologation. Demand was high enough that Audi built 11,452 in total between 1980 and 1991. Before the Quattro, all-wheel drive belonged to tractors and military vehicles and was a rare feature among sports cars. After it, every performance car manufacturer in the world had to reconsider what a fast road car could be.show more

The VR6 engine was born out of a packaging... problem. VW's engineers needed a six-cylinder that could fit transversely in a front-wheel drive Golf engine bay. Something a conventional V6 with cylinder banks spread 90 degrees could never do. The solution was a narrow-angle 15-degree configuration with a single cylinder head shared across all six cylinders, making it barely wider than a four cylinder. The MK3 Golf VR6 was the first car to receive it in the Golf family 2.8L, 174 HP, 235 Nm, 0-100 km/h in around 7 seconds, and a sound unlike anything else in a hatchback body. Not the fastest car of its era. The most characterful one in its class without question. That engine went on to power the Corrado, the Passat, and eventually the Phaeton and even some Porsche models. This example here is the GTI VR6 and the VR6 produces 201 hp, looks like a lot of fun.show more

🇫🇷 Lemans Classic Legends 🇯🇵 Mazda 787B One of... the most iconic and significant race cars in motorsport history. It is best known for its historic victory at the 1991 24 Hours of Le Mans, where it became the first—and, as of 2026, still the only—car powered by a non-reciprocating engine to win the race. The car utilized the R26B 4-rotor Wankel rotary engine. It is famous for its unique, high-pitched "scream" that made it instantly recognizable to spectators around the track. In 1991, chassis number 787B-002 (car #55), driven by Johnny Herbert, Volker Weidler, and Bertrand Gachot, took the overall victory. This was the first time a Japanese manufacturer won the event. While the 787B didn't have the outright "single-lap" pace of its rivals (like the Mercedes-Benz C11 or Jaguar XJR-12), Mazda’s engineers focused heavily on fuel efficiency and mechanical reliability. By managing their fuel consumption and pit strategy effectively, they were able to outlast the faster, but more temperamental, competition. Still sounds absolutely ridiculous 🔥🔥 Amazing footage captured by clem 👏🏻👏🏻 🎥 clem 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 #lemans #cars #japan #enduranceshow more

ALERT: Woman who crashed her car into a city... bus, leading to the NBC helicopter crash in Los Angeles, is rolled into court on a hospital gurney to face murder charges. Bailee Lynn Rios was wheeled in by officials to the San Fernando Superior Court, where she was covered with blankets and stared at the ceiling for most of the hearing. Rios allegedly had methamphetamine in the car and crashed into a Los Angeles Metro bus that killed 2 people, and the responding news helicopter crashed, killing 3 more. “Miss Rios did not have to get behind the wheel while impaired. She did not have to drive on the other side of the road. She did not have to blow through the red light at full force and drive her SUV right into a Metro bus. That was all preventable.”show more

CCS adapter doesn’t interface with the Cybertruck due to... the plastic wheel arches. We ripped those suckers off and plugged it in Wasn’t able to charge at a high voltage charger but it’s possible a low voltage one could work, but then what’s the point? Still more testing to be done, I have to try a few more units to see if this was a comms oddity with the Delta high powershow more

Funny story about Gary Busey. I was driving home... from LAX after a Delta trip. The traffic was so bad on the 405 that night I decided to drive up the PCH, look at the ocean, and not get stressed. I pulled up to a stop light in Malibu, still in my Delta pilot uniform, epaulets and all. It was around midnight on a Friday. I looked to my left while at the light, in the vehicle next to me is Gary Busey. He looks over at me and sees me in my uniform and he freaks out! He thinks I’m a cop. 🤣🤣🤣 He immediately looks straight ahead and put his hands on the steering wheel at 10 and 2! No more eye contact. I laughed all the way home! 🤣🤣🤣show more

The M550i uses a very different logic. Its 4.4-litre... twin-turbo V8 N63TU3 produces around 523 hp and is paired with all-wheel drive and an automatic transmission tuned for both speed and refinement. Compared with a full M5, the M550i is not positioned as a flagship. It is positioned as a fast 5 Series that sounds more like a usual V8. The engineering emphasis is on torque delivery, stability and comfort rather than maximum lap time. The M550i shows how BMW used to integrate high output V8 power into its core range instead of isolating it inside a specialist model.show more

Most people who owned a diesel Volvo 850 had... no idea what was under the bonnet. The engine was badged as the D5252T, a designation that sounds entirely Volvo. The engine cover says nothing to contradict that. The service history said Volvo. The dealership said Volvo. It was an Audi engine all along. The 2.5L inline-five turbodiesel or in other words TDI was designed and built by Audi, the same unit that had been fitted to the C4 Audi 100 and A6. Volvo sourced it because they needed a diesel quickly and hadn't developed their own yet. From mid-1995 to the end of 1996, every 850 diesel sold was a Volvo on the outside and an Audi underneath. 140 PS and 290 Nm. Badged entirely as Volvo's own. In 2001 Volvo replaced it with the D5, their first in-house diesel, because the Audi unit couldn't meet incoming emissions standards. The most successfully disguised engine swap in mainstream car history.show more

Honda didn’t copy Ferrari. It showed them how to... build a car that can actually be driven. NSX. 1990. The first production supercar with an aluminium monocoque chassis. 3.0-litre V6 engine, mid-mounted with VTEC. 270 HP. Titanium connecting rods. Manual gearbox. Rear-wheel drive. 1,370 kg. Senna fine-tuned it at Suzuka. And Gordon Murray used it as the basis for designing the F1. It went on sale for $60,000. Today, examples in good condition fetch prices of between $100,000 and $180,000. It isn’t the fastest car of the 1990s. It’s unique.show more
