The level of sophistication of jammers has driven the... use of drones equipped with fiber optic cables. Today, there are drones reaching up to 60 km and guided by these cables. Torpedoes have been using these cables for quite some time. MLRS systems have also developed rockets utilizing these cables, but all these projects have been abandoned.show more

Chinese Swarm Drone Systems: 48 and 96 Drones Some... time ago, I wrote about the evolution of autonomous systems and how only the Chinese were truly making progress in this field. After starting serial production of the Swarm-2, which features 48 drones and real-time tracking, they are now testing a version with 96 drones. These are divided into three categories: reconnaissance, jamming, and attack. Each drone can carry a variety of payloads, including electro-optical reconnaissance, strike munitions, and relay communications. They can be flexibly combined into different operational groupings, forming multifunctional swarms capable of complex missions. These drones have an individual range of 15 to 50 km, but the manufacturer claims that by maintaining a swarm network communication, this range is significantly extended. This strongly reinforces what we discussed a while back: that future wars will be dominated by drone systems that will severely delay any ground troop advancement, as already evidenced by the conflict in Ukraine.show more

An agreement has been reached on Ukrainian-American cooperation in drone production, including interceptor drones — a crystal clear priority. We have signed an agreement with the robust American company Swift Beat, and it foresees hundreds of thousands of drones this year alone, with the potential to significantly scale up production in the coming year. Interceptors to destroy enemy drones and missiles, quadcopters for reconnaissance and fire adjustment, and long-range strike drones — all of these will be produced in much greater numbers to help us achieve our defense goals and protect the lives of Ukrainians. The PLA is using a flamethrower drone for urban... warfare, effective in suppressing specific openings/windows in a building. Small semi-automated drones are also used as spotters when clearing buildings. The PLA is testing drones of all shapes and sizes for various tasks. Most other countries like the US are stuck on man-unmanned teaming with large and expensive platforms, like CCA or unmanned tanks, they cannot replicate this because their manufacturing industry cannot support it.show more

Drone escort This is the future of military convoys... as well as civilian convoys in risky areas. Two or more drones will patrol while defensive systems will include interceptor drones that can be deployed when needed. It is likely that a vehicle equipped with VLS (Vertical Launch System) will operate solely with missiles and kamikaze drones, with target coordinates transmitted by the patrol drones. This concept is quite similar to what the Chinese are implementing with the Type 100, but they have adapted it for assault units, which I still believe needs to be tested.show more

Shahed-101 struck a Castrol linked warehouse at Sardar Group facility. How is ‘101’ different from ‘136’? Shahed-101, a 26 KG drone uses electric motor, so it does not make noise like ‘136’ or Arash drones. It can go upto 1500 km with 8 KG warhead. On the other hand, a 200 KG Shahed-136 uses a piston engine and it can go upto 2500 km with 50 KG warhead.
