When we pitched the stadium as part of MAPS... 4, we promised that bringing OKC its first multipurpose stadium would open up new opportunities. And thanks to subsequent added funding from TIF and the 2025 bond issue, the stadium project is now even better positioned for success. Today, we can announce a major new win. We welcome the United Football League (UFL) to OKC! Play is slated to begin in 2028 at our new stadium, which will break ground in the next two months. Much gratitude to the operators of the stadium - Echo Investment Capital, Christian Kanady, Court Jeske and everyone who led this recruitment of professional football to OKC.show more

Wednesday, April 3, 2024, 5:42 PM PDT: All systems... are a go for a cold and unseasonable Gulf of Alaskan April storm. Strong thunderstorms have already developed near Redding, California, and a series of embedded impulses are rotating around the main low axis off the coast of Humboldt County this afternoon. This storm system will undergo a brief 12 to 24-hour intensification process before hitting San Francisco, Santa Rosa, and Sacramento late Thursday afternoon. It will bring isolated strong to severe thunderstorm conditions. A large surface cold front will develop late Friday morning as the low axis trajectory slides down the coast towards Pismo Beach, California by Friday at dawn. Severe Weather Risk In Central And Southern California on Friday. The atmospheric conditions will become increasingly unstable, giving way to thunderstorms from central California to San Diego. The cold pool of air aloft, at minus 28 Celsius above 25,000FT, will create volatile weather conditions with the possibility of pea-sized hail and brief heavy rainfall in some areas. The air mass will be very cold, supporting a dusting of snow near the Grapevine and Cajon Pass. Temperatures will drop into the 40s and 50s, and the 30s near the mountains by Friday midday. As snow levels have been trending downward and hit rock bottom, there may be some isolated areas at 2,000-foot elevation along the San Gabriel’s and parts of the San Bernardino mountains that could see a dusting of snow. Even some dusting of snow in the high desert cannot be ruled out. There is a high confidence of elevated water spouts developing from San Luis Obispo to San Diego coastal zones, especially since one of the embedded disturbances will arrive on Friday from 11 AM to 7 PM. This is also the best opportunity for ample early April sun angle, which will give way to stronger convection across our region. I'm closely monitoring this developing situation in the next 24 hours. #Californiastorms #ElNiño #April2024show more

“That was fun, but not as fun as tackling... people.” Preston Lobliner had these words of wisdom after his first day of kicking camp with James Wilhoit. Without any training, he was the only kid in his league last year who could kick extra points, and that was HUGE since they are worth 2 points since nobody does it. With Middle School Football upon us, we are excited to see him contribute to his team as an accurate and powerful kicker and an all out DAWG on offense and defense. This was 30 yards, and after this camp and learning how to actually kick, I expect to hit 40+ by the time the season hits. Also the best news ever for us, he is starting back in wrestling next week daily after injuring his elbow at practice the day after winning state so we will start working on that 3rd state championship! SUPER PROUD of this kid!show more

When I was 16 working in a hospital cafeteria,... a 38-yr old a coworker named “Mike 7-4” slapped the shit outta me because I told my supervisor he was out back doing cocaine instead of helping me in the dish room. This is where politicians need to be working. A Sunday morning ain’t shit in most food service jobs. Work fast food on a Friday night after HS football. Or Deliver pizzas, Put Trump a man down in a two-man dish room, with the front line beggin for clean plates while Mike 7-4 out back trying to buy Vicodin off the nurses in the cardiac wing. Dish room a sweat box. 300° steam coming off the machine and here come with Mr. Wallaby cussin because the silverware aint rolled yet. Bitch It ain’t rolled because my coworker is high sir . SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL POTENTIAL FRIDAY NIGHT ******1ST CALL MAP****** 🎄... Merry Christmas to YOU!!! A pretty sizable snowstorm is expected across the region Friday night, with snow developing as early as Friday evening. I am very confident in a widespread 6–10" snowfall for a large portion of the Tri-State area, with lower confidence closer to NYC, Long Island, and the Jersey Shore where mixing remains a concern. At this time, I am keeping some mixing in play in central NJ/Long Island, but I’m not totally sold on how aggressive it becomes. While 4–6" looks like a very solid floor, several areas could easily boom to 6"+ if colder air locks in faster and holds longer than currently modeled. ZONE 1 – 6–10" OF SNOW This is the zone where cold air damming will be most prevalent, allowing snow to remain all snow for the duration of the event. Expect higher snow ratios, which could allow many areas to push toward double-digit totals, especially under any persistent banding. I could easily pull this zone into NYC and Nassau County as we see more model data. ZONE 2 – 4–6" OF SNOW This zone will likely start with heavy, wet snow, before transitioning to a lighter, fluffier snowfall as colder air works in. Some compaction is expected with lower snow ratios, but additional snow and mesoscale banding could still drive totals toward or above 6" in spots. ZONE 3 – 2–4" WITH MIXING This zone remains VERY uncertain. I could make a strong argument that cold air advection dominates, keeping this mostly snow and allowing totals to reach 4–6". However, low-level warm air transport on an easterly wind may introduce sleet, especially along the Jersey Shore (east of GSP) and into Suffolk County, which would eat into accumulations. I’ll be watching trends closely as this is shaping up to be a sharp cutoff storm where small shifts could have big impacts. 📺 On TV now with the latest on PIX11 Newsshow more

Chaerin's mom ig update 🥹 Bogum is really like... Chaerin's dad 🥺 It’s been such a long time since she met Bogum appa. Chaerin’s surprise appearance really shocked Bogum appa! After the stage ended, Bogum appa said he missed Chaerin and rushed over 🥺 As soon as he saw Chaerin, he hugged her, And kept saying how pretty she is. Bogum appa said that when Chaerin was on stage, she didn't look at him even for once, and he was so upset. He really gave the "upset" vibe haha (Chaerin even asked where Bogum appa had been 😆) We usually watch him on TV every Friday night. Everytime Chaerin watched him through the video, she kept saying that she missed Bogum appa. But after seeing him in person, Chaerin got so shy she couldn’t say a word 😭 (Of course, she couldn’t talk because he’s just that cool..) Even though it’s been a year, It felt like we just saw each other yesterday. Such a comfortable reunion 💙 We’ll miss you ㅠㅠ Let’s meet again~ We love you 🙌show more

Officially moving on from Tech game after I get... this thought off my chest. I more than welcome anyone smarter than me in regards to the football to chime in. I truly, truly, truly cannot wrap my head around the thought process here. These two plays I'm sure anyone with brain can agree officially sealed KU's slim chances in having a chance to win this game. The play calling to me seems like completely flipped in logic at best? First one, you are down 4, on your own 30 so you are not going to go for this. Ignoring that we were getting dominated in the trenches in this game and that the 'obvious' play is a run, I don't get why we make the decision in a must get spot to take the ball out of our QB's (who at the time was rolling) hands. Jalon Daniels is our best player. In an absolute must get/need, we should be relying on him to make a play. Then the second one. I obviously don't know the answer here, but I feel somewhat confident that the reason we didn't run here was because of how the earlier 3rd & 1 run went. While I don't necessarily agree with the premise of decision making on this alone, I can appreciate the recognition that we are going to struggle to gain a yard in an obvious run situation. But the thing is, we are in go for it range so the one thing you absolutely cannot have is a massive negative play. Literally anything else is okay (obviously not a turnover). I truly don't think there's a good chance we run the ball on this attempt and get a yard. But THIS situation gives you a free shot at it if you want to take it. I think this play call would have worked if we didn't let their best player run at our qb freely but I'd just argue this play had a ton of potential risk that wasn't necessary. Hell even a play action pass out of out shot gun or something rolling JD out to the left would have given us a good shot at first down with an escape route to bail out on the play if something went wrong. I'm once again for the millionth time saying I know and understand that this entire staff knows more about football in their pinky than I do. But I do think the game has evolved and game + clock management doesn't really require football knowledge/have a direct correlation to one's football knowledge. It's not as simple as ESPN's graphic says GO so you should go etc, there are variables and human behavior etc to deal with and I understand that. But we are just getting these situations downright wrong. We are flipping a coin that has a 20 pound weight attached to the heads side and calling tails almost every single time. S/O anyone who read all this but would just love some insight if there's anyone who disagrees and is a lot smarter than I!show more

A pro-Palestinian 🇵🇸 group slashed and spray-painted a century-old... portrait of the author of the Balfour Declaration at the University of Cambridge in England 🏴 In March 2024; a pro-Palestinian group slashed and spray-painted a century-old portrait of Arthur James Balfour at the University of Cambridge on Friday, defacing a painting of the British official whose pledge of support in 1917 for “the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people” helped pave the way to Israel’s founding three decades later. The group, Palestine Action, said in a statement that the destruction of the portrait in Trinity College, Cambridge, was intended to call attention to “the bloodshed of the Palestinian people since the Balfour Declaration was issued,” particularly in light of the current conflict in Gaza. A spokeswoman for Trinity, whose alumni include King Charles III as well as Balfour himself, said in a statement on Friday that the college “regrets the damage caused to a portrait of Arthur James Balfour during public opening hours” and that it had notified the police. A Cambridge police statement said officers were on the scene to investigate a report of “criminal damage.” Palestine Action posted a video of a protester first spraying the portrait, painted in 1914 by Philip Alexius de László, with red paint and then slashing it with a sharp object. The group’s statement said Balfour had given away the homeland of the Palestinians — “a land that wasn’t his to give away” — touching off what it described as decades of oppression. Since October 7 - 2023, when Hamas militants invading southern Israel killed approximately 1,200 people and abducted 240 others, Israeli bombings and invasions have killed more than 30,000 people, according to Gaza health officials. Defacing art has become a popular protest tactic in recent years. It is perhaps most closely associated with environmentalists, who have targeted paintings by van Gogh, Vermeer and Monet. In 2024, two women from an environmental group entered the Louvre and flung soup at the Mona Lisa. Most of the paintings that have been targeted were covered or protected in some way, and very few were damaged. The pro-Palestinian protesters have targeted art in New York. A few dozen demonstrators disrupted the opening of an Israeli artist’s show at a Manhattan gallery, Hyperallergic reported. In February 2024, protesters interrupted a conversation featuring an Israeli artist whose drawings depicting October 7, 2023 are being exhibited at the Jewish Museum and dozens chanted “Free Palestine” in a demonstration at the Museum of Modern Art. © The New York Times #archaeohistoriesshow more

12 Angels of Majdal Shams 👼 Of all the... things I've done in my professional life, few experiences, if any, have been as deeply meaningful, inspiring or profoundly moving as this. At the initiative of my incredible friend ERIC RUBIN אריק 🟦 🎗️ and the amazing organizations Athletes for Israel (AFI) 🟦 & Project Max that he leads, this week I had the opportunity to join two NFL legends and Hall of Famers, Nick Lowery and Tony Richardson(T Rich), in a visit to Majdal Shams, in northern Israel. In July last year, Hezbollah terrorists fired a missile, murdering 12 beautiful kids who were just playing football here. A moment that has been seared into our collective memories and heartache. We went to the site of this horrific attack and heard first-hand from the families of the children who were killed, and the indescribable devastation they suffered, as well as their herculean resilience, hope and even prayers for peace. To see these NFL legends, hardened men, who played football their entire careers in one of the toughest sports there is, brought to tears (as was I mind you), was incredibly powerful. These NFL champions, who are also super mensches by the way, also played some football with the kids in the community - at the site of the rebuilt stadium - and spent time signing autographs and handing out gifts. It was the first visit of its kind, of professional athletes, to this community. It was truly inspiring beyond words to see the smiles on these kids faces, and their parents. The moment of happiness and joy was just priceless. They also spoke about long-term projects to support this special community! This was not, like for many others, just a one-off PR visit, and then abandoning them. This is the beginning of a legitimate long-term partnership (more on that to come). We must never forget what happened and do everything possible to support and help these children, their families and the community rebuild! During their trip by the way, the NFL champions also spoke with hostage families, visited the south of Israel and spent time with Lone Soldiers. None of this would have been possible were it not for the vision, initiative and indefatigable effort of Eric Rubin, someone I am proud beyond words to know, and who is single-handedly revolutionizing using sport and athletes to support Israel, combat antisemitism and draw attention to the plight of our hostages. The State of Israel and the Jewish people are absolutely blessed to have him! As for me ... well, I'm just lucky these beautiful little kids at Majdal Shams let me have a goal at the end!show more

🗞️🗞️🗞️Tyler Robinson appeared visible uneasy today at times during... the hearing, especially during mentions of Lance Twiggs, taking deep breaths, fidgeting and adjusting his suit jacket. We were not shown the video of Twiggs’ interview with police and expect to see only a redacted version tomorrow. Erika Kirk shared several emotional embraces with her mother-in-law today and was also wiping tears when the Kirk family attorney Jeff Neiman urged the court to play the unredacted video for “all the world to see.” The full video is expected to show Twiggs discussing texts, chat logs and a note that the defense worries prosecutors and the public will consider a “confession” from Robinson. The defense does not characterize them as a confession. We’ve seen some of these alleged texts already, where Robinson mentions being “stuck in Orem,” where the shooting took place, and he appears to take responsibility for being “the one who did it.” We don’t expect to see those portions tomorrow, but the judge will consider them when he makes his probable cause decision. Judge Graf also said the preliminary hearing will end by 5 pm Friday. No extensions. At the end of the hearing, as everyone stood, Erika and Kathy shared a hug. Here’s a screen recording of part of the charging document that includes excerpts from the texts. #CharlieKirkshow more
