You can see the disturbance from the recent X5... solar flare covering nearly half of the Sun. It produced a fast, full-halo CME with a highly dense core. With two preceding CMEs already on their way, this event will further intensify the geomagnetic activity on an already weakened magnetic field. The Earth's magnetic field protects us not only from... solar flares but also from cosmic radiation. When the Sun enters a Grand Solar Minimum, its magnetic field weakens for a long period. This lets more cosmic radiation into the Solar System, and this directly impacts the climate on Earth and increases volcanic activity. The last Little Ice Age occurred during a Grand Solar Minimum. But the coming Grand Solar Minimum is going to hit harder because the Earth's magnetic field is at least 30% weaker and, with the ongoing geomagnetic excursion, is continuing to weaken. This will let in more cosmic radiation, which will directly cause mutations, pandemics, cooling, crop failures, and even crustal displacement. Since the advent of modern technology, we haven't experienced either a Grand Solar Minimum or a geomagnetic excursion, and we are due for both.show more

It's 2030 and you are reviewing humanoid robots. A... Tesla. A Google. An Apple. An OpenAI. A Meta. A Figure. And a bunch of Chinese-made ones. Which one is best, and why? I think the Tesla understands the world much better. Why? There were eight Teslas around me on the freeway today. Start there. No other robot company has that data. But my robot is parked at the local high school twice a day. Its cameras see humans in all of our weirdness. How we move. Where we go. Where we walk. Who we talk with. What you are wearing. Whether your hair was combed this morning. That data will lead to robotics breakthroughs. Apple might keep up with its Vision Pro data, but it is too freaked out by the privacy implications of using said data. (On the front are six cameras and a couple of TOF -- Time Of Flight -- sensors that can see everything in your home in great detail). Google has a lot of data, for sure. All my: 1. Email. 2. Calendars. 3. Photos. 4. TV watching behavior. 5. Contacts. 6. Documents and spreadsheets. 7. Files. 8. Location data. So I expect Google's robot will be attractive to many. But how do you see the others shake out over the next five years? Make some guesses. But remember what an AI pioneer told me years ago about AI: it's all about the data. The Chinese ones have huge advantages: the Chinese have more data on their citizens, and many more citizens to boot AND they can make robots cheaper than we can. But now that you know OpenAI is building its own robot you have caught wind of what I've heard from many in San Francisco and Silicon Valley: that humanoid robots are the real prize of AI and will be highly profitable for those that can make them and find customers willing to buy them. A large coronal hole located in the northern hemisphere... of the Sun has rotated into view. It will be Earth center and then geoeffective in 4 and then ~6 days respectfully. Last time it was located in there ~28 days ago, we observed a burst of global seismic activity (M7.5, M7.3, M7.4) in a short time frame, and there is quite a track record of events linking large Earth-facing coronal holes and high-magnitude earthquakes together. Additionally this coronal hole is a negative polarity meaning its magnetic field easily connects to Earth's magnetic field. This is another important variable. This coronal hole's high-speed-stream will be geoeffective when we're in a convergence of critical planetary geometry (E-Me-Ma-Sa, Me-Sun-Ju, E-V-U, V-Sa-Ne) April 20th (+- 3 days each side) and Comet C/2025 R3 PANSTARRS will be just outside Mercury's orbit for its closest approach to the Sun (perihelion) on April 19th during this convergence. All of these factors together along with numerous outer planet geocentric transits happening as well suggest there's a much higher chance than normal of significant Earth events occurring around this time ~04/20/2026.show more

BREAKING – A significant Earth-directed solar flare and associated... coronal mass ejection (CME) just occurred on Friday evening. There is an increasing chance of geomagnetic storms and the potential for a display of the aurora borealis (northern lights) sometime Sunday night into Monday. A "solar flare" is a flash of light and radiation flickering into space. They emanate from sunspots – bruise-like discolorations on the surface of the sun that throb and pulsate with energy. That just occurred associated with sunspot #4100. The flare was a magnitude M8.2; M is one step below X, the highest category. An M8.2 is very close to X-class status. It was followed by a "full halo CME", or coronal mass ejection. That's an explosion of magnetism and solar material that surfs a shockwave through space. We call it a "full halo" because – when it's pointed directly at Earth – it looks like a halo. When CMEs, or coronal mass ejections, arrive at Earth, the electromagnetic energy is absorbed and dissipated by Earth's magnetic field. That energy is transformed into visible light – the aurora.
