BREAKING: United Airlines 512 continues to remain in an isolated area at Reagan National Airport. A large emergency presence is visible. ATC said "I'm sorry to have to do this to you... We have an unconfirmed bomb report... We've got to get you away from the airport."

What a HORRIBLE forecast by meteorologists – especially myself. Not only were we spectacularly wrong – we communicated poorly. It became apparent last night that some of our initial expectations would prove fallacious. I'd like to address what went wrong with our forecast:

A sting jet-like feature may cause a burst of 90-100 mph northwesterly wind gusts immediately left of Isaias’s degraded eye during landfall. This could affect areas near Pensacola and east of Gulf Shores. (Take what I said in my MyRadar Weather video and shift 10-15 miles east.)

AccuWeather is doubling down, arguing the non-tropical nor’easter should have been named. It seems that meteorologists SHOULD understand why it wasn’t. As I say in my video, “I’m MyRadar senior meteorologist Matthew Cappucci. We’ll never BS you, because we’re better than that.”

INCREDIBLE developments with Superhurricane Polo, which likely now has winds in the 175+ mph range. It has heated the air enough to lift HALF A TRILLION pounds of air out the middle, driving an incredible vacuum effect that’s resulting in obscene winds.

A reminder to residents of the Deep South — this is what tornadoes today may look like. You see it? Me neither. But it’s barely four football fields away. That’s what happens when you have waterlogged storms, rain-wrapped circulations and a grungy airmass. Same thing today.

A total solar eclipse is a spiritual experience. As a scientist, it's impossible not to feel faithful in something when looking into its eye. The coincidences needed to create such fleeting, ephemeral perfection are too astronomically improbable to be pure chance.

BREAKING: For the first time on record, a blizzard warning has been issued for the Gulf of Mexico coastline. A blizzard warning has never been issued so far south. Frequent gusts to 35 mph will combine with moderate to heavy falling/blowing of snow to reduce visibilities. ❄️
