From Eric Vishria on how the top AI founders... are building products completely opposite of the SaaS era: "One of the things that is really different in the AI world versus the SaaS world, is that in the SaaS world, over and over again, you had people who really understood the customer. And the problem. And then they understood a domain. They understood what the technology was more or less capable of. But it wasn't a real question of if you could build something or not. For example, take Salesforce, Workday, and ServiceNow. CRM existed before Salesforce. HR management existed before Workday. Same thing with ServiceNow. So in every case, Salesforce followed Siebel. Workday followed Peoplesoft. ServiceNow followed Peregrine and Remedy, and others. So they were just kind of, cloud SaaS versions of the prior generation product. They just understood the customers. They understood the problem. And they were just like, here's a better version. And that evolved a little bit over time in SaaS land. But that's what it is. And so product development in that way was done by people who really understood the customer and the problems. And then just took advantage of the next wave. And this is almost diametrically opposite of product development in the AI era. When I look at the teams that are having the most success today, they have intimate knowledge of the models. They are right on the frontier of understanding which models are better at what, and why, and when. And what they're going to be good at and what they're not going to be good at. And what they're spending their time on, is figuring out how do I apply this capability of this model to this domain or to this user. So they're actually working inside out or technology out, versus customer problem in. And of course, they understand the customer problem. And a lot of times they have firsthand knowledge of it. But they're really close to the metal and capability, and they're applying it. And I think this is a really different way to develop products than in SaaS. I started my career as a product manager a long time ago, and it's almost the complete opposite of everything you learned. Ostriches are intensely social animals who understand their world... through movement contact and the presence of their flock. They do not experience life with human concepts or human language but they do experience fear safety comfort and distress in ways that are clear measurable and deeply felt. When ostriches live together they learn the shapes sounds and movements of the birds around them. They feel secure when the flock is calm and they become anxious when others show signs of alarm. Their sense of safety depends entirely on the stability of the group. Any threat to one member of the flock creates a wave of fear through all of them. Because of this the emotional impact of violent handling and mass killing is not limited to the bird that is struck but spreads through every ostrich who sees hears or senses it. When force and confinement are imposed on them the birds experience a level of fear that overwhelms their natural coping behaviors. Ostriches respond to danger with flight or alert stillness and when neither response is possible they enter a state of acute stress that includes trembling pacing vocalizing or freezing in place. Their hearts race their muscles tense and their entire body prepares to escape. When they are surrounded or trapped they cannot understand why the danger cannot be avoided. The sense of helplessness for a prey animal is not a thought but a physical shock that floods them with stress and panic. To a creature who survives through movement and awareness the loss of space and the inability to flee is a form of suffering in itself. The abuse of forcing ostriches to witness the injury or death of familiar flock mates creates another layer of distress. These birds recognize individuals. They notice when one of their companions collapses or cries out. They become restless and agitated when a bird they know is harmed. They remain close to fallen birds and often attempt to investigate or stay near them because their instinct pushes them to stay with the group even when the group is being destroyed. The emotional meaning of this moment is not symbolic but immediate. The flock is breaking apart. The cues of danger multiply. The birds see others in pain or falling and their own fear grows with each new sign of suffering. When violent killing happens around them ostriches sense it as the collapse of their only system of safety. They are not built to make sense of destruction happening in their own flock. Instead they respond with escalating panic. Their bodies show it clearly through rapid breathing frantic shifts in posture and attempts to move closer to surviving flock mates. They do not understand why the danger continues or why the people near them are the source of harm. The stress they experience is intense enough to cause physical shock. Their final moments are dominated by confusion fear and the overwhelming instinct to escape a threat that cannot be avoided. The public often imagines large animals as numb or unaware but ostriches feel the world with a sensitivity shaped by millions of years as prey animals. Their eyes are sharp their hearing is attuned to stress in others and their bodies react strongly to fear and pain. When dozens or hundreds of birds are subjected to violence in a confined area every ostrich feels the fear of the others. The suffering does not happen to them one by one but as a shared experience of terror. This is an experience that no animal should ever be forced to endure. The reality is not clinical or quick. It is emotionally devastating to the animals caught in it because it destroys the flock bond that is their only sense of stability and then it destroys the birds themselves. Understanding this matters because it shows that the harm done to these animals was not only physical but deeply emotional. The ostriches suffered long before any final action was taken against their bodies. They suffered through fear they could not escape through the panic created by the collapse of their flock and through the helplessness of being unable to understand why the world around them suddenly turned violent. Recognizing this is essential because it reveals the true scale of what was done. This was not a neutral procedure. This was the infliction of terror on beings capable of feeling it powerfully. At the end of the day, as I discussed... with Jordan Peterson, there are just two games to be played, one real, one Woke. The real game is called civilization. The false game is called power. A long post/🧵: The real divide between Woke and not Woke is in power. The Woke game is the power game, and it is a parasite on the real game, which is civilization. Here's roughly how Jordan described the foundation of this idea. There are various rules, norms, etc., in the game society ultimately plays, and these create a hierarchy that is based upon competence, mostly organically, obviously imperfectly. If the rules of the game are good enough, the imperfections (natural corruptions) are minor and society thrives. If they are not, you'll have problems. This is the real game of building society, and it ultimately has to favor competence. This game must be called "civilization" because that's not just its goal but it is also what it does. It civilizes us beyond our base instincts and impulses so we can work together productively in a healthy manner that generates prosperity. As Jordan put it, this game is also a reservoir of value, and reservoirs of value create parasites. What are these civilizational parasites? They’re parallel games organized by and around malignant psychopathological modes like Dark Tetrad traits, psychopathy, and Cluster-B disorders: histrionic, borderline, antisocial, and narcissistic. These malignant pathologies render people incompetent except at manipulation, so they cannot rise far in a healthy civilizational hierarchy. What do they do, then, to gain power and status in life in a game they cannot actually play? They define a parasitic parallel game and rope people into playing it. It is parasitic in that it draws off the real game (civilization) and mimics its form so that the hosts (people in society) are less likely to realize it’s there, but it doesn’t build or create of its own. It siphons and tears down. What drives this game is failing to see what makes the civilizational game and the hierarchy it produces legitimate in the first place. This is characteristic of the psychopathologies at its heart. The narcissist imagines the world should be serving himself at the top, but it isn’t. The problem can’t be himself, so it must be that the game is illegitimate. Otherwise, he’d be at the top, but he isn’t. Therefore, the game is corrupt. His histrionic nature makes him a victim of the real game, preying upon emotions like empathy and righteous indignation to recruit followers. Because of his Dark Tetrad alignment, his game is not only illegitimate but toxic. It’s inherently sadistic, cruel to its recruits in the way typical of all cults—alternating punishment and leniency or even love-bombing. It’s dishonest. It’s psychologically broken from reality. It’s also a Machiavellian game, which means it has no interest in moral or ethical behavior but only in power. Thus, this rival game to the game of civilization is the game of power. The parasitic game—that is, the power game—is based on a fundamental failure to understand the legitimacy of the civilizational game or the approximately legitimate hierarchy it produces. This is a result of its narcissism, mostly. The game cannot be legitimate because the psychopath isn’t on top of it, where he sees himself constantly as a projection from his frail ego. It sees power in the real hierarchy, though, which it can perceive and understand, and for which it blames most of its troubles. What this means is that the (Woke) power game develops a critical theory of the existing legitimate civilization game. That’s why Woke means “using critical theory (and activism).” A critical theory exists not to articulate a vision—at least not beyond a Utopia after the cult power game holds power to enforce its power game long enough—but to “criticize those aspects of the existing society we wish to change,” as Max Horkheimer, creator of the Critical Theory, put it. The critical theory of the power game exists to recruit by delegitimizing the civilization game in the minds of some of its players, usually ones who aren’t succeeding as well. It picks at “contradictions,” failures, and imperfections while casting the whole civilization game as corrupt and unjust. It offers itself as the only alternative to civilization game while pulling at the threads of the civilization game that allow people to believe in it. It all proceeds from the Woke failure to understand the legitimacy of the hierarchy of the civilization game as it proceeds from its set of rules. Misunderstanding legitimacy leads it to conclude that all hierarchies are actually based in power, and all power is fundamentally arbitrary. That is, they do not believe all power is illegitimate. They believe power is the only legitimate thing in any hierarchy, but they also believe that power is located in persons like themselves through their narcissism and projection. Think of Voldemort as an icon of this mode of thinking: “there is no good or evil, only power and those too weak to seek it.” Of course, that quintessential Dark Tetrad perspective is what ensures the psychopathological power game will be rigged to make sure the psychopaths are attracted to it and rise to its top. This belief is what we call Woke. The Woke game is the power game, and it is a parasitic competitor to the civilization game. There is no overlap between these two games. To adopt the power game is to abandon the civilization game entirely and, in fact, to become its enemy. But James, you might ask, isn’t there power in civilization? Yes, there is, and necessarily, but it isn’t what defines the civilization game. It’s a byproduct of the game, not the game itself. The civilization game is fundamentally the building out of an organic and dynamic hierarchy based on a set of rules, or what some people call “muh principles,” that will succeed or fail for that civilization in direct proportion to three things. 1) How aligned with the truth are the rules of the civilization game? 2) How aligned with justice are the rules of the civilization game? 3) How willing are the participants of the civilization game to defend their principles and their game, including against socio-parasitical perversion? The more aligned with truth and justice a civilization game is, the more successful it will be, and the more legitimate its hierarchy. The power that results as a byproduct is extremely legitimate in a highly aligned civilization where people haven’t forgotten their charge to defend the game itself, which is what we call responsibility. A civilization game strongly aligned with truth and justice filled with a preponderance of responsible people will produce a thriving, prosperous society. It only works this way every time. Not everyone is responsible, though. Some are also incompetent because of various pathologies (not talking about for other reasons). Those pathological players may, under certain circumstances, create a parasitic side game with themselves on top through a variety of strategies that mimic the values and principles of the real game while distorting them into power plays because their game is power, as discussed above. They will recruit into that game primarily from those who are resentful of the real game for any variety of reasons, and getting recruited into the power game from the civilization game is called “going Woke.”show more

Telling the Truth in a Post-Truth World — John... MacArthur There is a kind of insanity that says, “I can do anything I want. I can live any way I want.” And because the consequences are not instantaneous and immediate, although they well could be, because the wages of sin is—what?—death, because God is a God of mercy and God allows sinners to survive and even enjoy common grace, they somehow come to believe that they can continually store up wrath against the day of God’s judgment—as Romans 2 says—and there will be no consequences. Everyone understands and everyone lives—let’s put it this way—under the all-encompassing, all-sovereign authority of natural law. It is sovereign, it is without mercy, and it will bring consequences, mostly immediate, to its violators.But because people think they can get away with sin and evil behavior and immorality, and they can live with lies and deception, our society is drowning in that. This has become, frankly, for us a comfortable norm. In fact, it’s so normal to violate the moral and spiritual laws of God that our nation is making laws to protect those violations. Moral and spiritual law is violated, starting with children who are being told at the ages of four and five that they may not be a girl when they are a girl, they may not be a boy when they are a boy, and they need to have some transgender treatment, all the way to the unbelievable advocacy of abortion from an entire party in the United States. If you have one sort of loose cannon running around like Chicken Little, “The sky is falling, the sky is falling, the sky is falling,” you sort of laugh at Chicken Little. But if Chicken Little has a group identity, if he’s empowered by a whole lot of other people who are saying the same thing and there’s a collection of liars committed to this, they’re empowered. So you have the LGBTQ community, you have the trans community, you have cults, you have false religions, you have aberrations of all kinds. And the individuals involved in those things are not alone; they are basically empowered because they have teammates. And at that point, they become ensnared in the immoral, deceptive lies, and the web captures them. They are being mutually affirmed by their other teammates, and then they are being even more mutually affirmed as the culture affirms them and the nation makes laws to make sin righteousness, and to make righteousness a violation of law. You come along or I come along and confront that, and we find it’s impossible to convince them of the dire deception they are in and its terrifying consequences because we’re on the outside. And what do they say to us? “You haven’t lived my life. You haven’t walked in my step. Who Is the Antichrist and Why Is He Associated... With Technology? In our modern times the Antichrist is making headlines. In these discussions he is frequently associated with the rapid development of technology and various technocratic figures. Why is that? Certainly there are different undercurrents in the Christian Tradition that hint to the oppressive and consolidating power of technology, however, an even deeper explanation arises when we examine the esoteric principals behind Antichrist. First off, the Antichrist in not a metaphor, nor is he an allegory. He is not simply your 'shadow self' or an 'archetypal image of human evil'. He is an entity, an actual spiritual being that will take a body in the future. This incarnation will mark the official delineation of humanity into two distinct streams: those who organize themselves around life and morality, and those who organize themselves around death and immorality. While this is certainly disturbing to consider, this is how humanity evolves, under certain spiritual and even social pressures, we are whittled down to our genuine core beliefs. It is unavoidable, and thus why all people should be properly educated on the coming incarnation of the Antichrist to prepare themselves. Secondly, the Antichrist is associated with transhumanism and technology because these things represent his own nature. They are symbols of him. The Antichrist is, quite simply, machine-like. He is soulless. He therefore enters into technology because technology is his equal. His forces are readily emerging from machines as they bear his likeness. Machines are a form of sympathetic magic, and from them the forces of the subatomic , sub-natural world emerge. While Christ is the way, the truth and the life, the Antichrist is the undoing of humanity, the lie, and death. The Antichrist therefore emerges from the sub-natural plane, or from the world of death. He arrives here as a being of systematic decay. he is embodied and emboldened in the empty shells, both human and inhuman, that bear his symbol. He is seeking to consume life, to coldly and robotically break it apart. In contrast, Christ descended from the spiritual world, from heaven, to give life. To free humanity from death and the constant entropic appetites of the underworld. Lastly, in Christian Esotericism, the appearance of the Antichrist marks a significant cosmic event: the beginning of the return of the moon. Here, in our relationship with the moon, we also see the automatic, machine like quality of nature. Spiritually, the moon often appears as a machine, it feels as a machine feels. It's rhythms are set and cast upon the earth to deal with. This is not because it is actually synthetic, or a technological object, but rather because it retains a connection to the sub-natural realm. The lunar sphere is our gate to the underworld. Further, the moon is often associated with the animal level of consciousness, or, the prior development of humanity, or the old 'lunar condition' of man. The lunar sphere, therefore, contains what has been reduced to unconscious impulses in present day humanity. All that lies in the unconscious mind lives in the realm of the moon. In this way man is confronting, through the slow return of the moon to the earth, his own mechanical unexamined impulses, his own unconsciousness. And thus, behind the moon, in its darkest region, lies perhaps the greatest secret of Ahriman, the Antichrist. After all, it was the mystic G.I. Gurdjieff who reminded us that we are 'food for the moon' meaning that we often end up dissolving ourselves into, or losing ourselves in, what we have not yet overcome. We become possessed by what we refuse to acknowledge and take responsibility for. The lunar spirits are hungry ghosts bearing unnatural gifts. Man must now awaken to his unconscious, machine-like impulses. In turn it is our awakening, our making conscious of what is unconscious through Christ, that reveals the reality of the Antichrist.show more

Jonny Ardavanis on Isaiah 53 and what it has... to do with God’s preservation of the Jewish people: “But I want you to notice as we turn to Isaiah 53 that all of these verbs are in the past tense. It does not say He will be pierced through for our transgressions. He will be crushed. It says what? ‘He was.’ Every verb starting in verse 1 all the way through verse 11 in the past tense, meaning that this is prophetic, and yet, it is written in such a way as if it had already happened. Why? Well, because this is the mournful confession of the Jews in the future. I’ve been getting asked a lot about Israel and the Jews lately, and I’ll discuss this more in the future, maybe do a little series, but there is a reason why you’ve never met a Jebusite, an Edomite, an Amorite, a Hittite, a Perizzite, or a Philistine. They are not and were not preserved by God, but one day, Zechariah 12:10 says that they will look on Me whom they have pierced, and they will mourn as for an only son. There isn’t a singular personal pronoun in the chapter. It’s all a collective statement. It’s in the future. The Jews are going to recognize their hard heart, their rebellion, and their rejection of their Messiah. But this text not only applies to the Jews. It applies to all of us as well.”show more
