Operation Amistad - Responding to the devastating earthquake that... struck northern Venezuela, the two Indian Airforce C17s transited through Abidjan enroute to Venezuela carrying 35 T of relief equipment, an Indian Army Field Hospital contingent and two BHISHM cubes. The contingent comprises 41 personnel, including nine medical officers, and is equipped to provide emergency medical care, trauma management, life-saving surgical support and other essential healthcare services to those affected by the earthquake. The team is carrying approximately six tonnes of medical stores and humanitarian relief supplies provided by the Ministry of External Affairs. In addition, one of the two aircraft is transporting a BHISHM Cube (Bharat Health Initiative for Sahyog, Hita & Maitri) under India’s Aarogya Maitri Project. The BHISHM Cube is a state-of-the-art, indigenous, rapidly deployable modular medical facility designed specifically for disaster and humanitarian response. Comprising compact, self-contained medical modules, it can be quickly assembled into a fully functional field hospital capable of delivering advanced trauma care, emergency surgeries, intensive care support and essential medical treatment for up to 200 patients. GUJARAT AND DADRA & NAGAR HAVELI Ahmedabad, 25 July 2026 Responding swiftly to the flood situation arising from incessant rainfall across parts of Gujarat and the Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli, the Indian Army, under the aegis of Southern Command, commenced Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations on the evening of 23 July 2026. Relief and rescue operations are continuing in close coordination with the NDRF, SDRF, civil administration and other agencies to assist the affected population. The Army has deployed seven Relief and Rescue Columns, including Engineer and Medical teams, across the affected areas. At present, two columns are deployed in Navsari, one in the Valsad–Vapi region, three in Ahmedabad, covering Ahmedabad Town, Ahmedabad Rural and the Ahmedabad–Rajkot Highway, and one column is operating in Silvassa in the Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli. In addition, addl Relief and Rescue Columns remain on standby at key locations, including Vadodara, Ahmedabad and Jamnagar to facilitate immediate response to any emerging contingency. Since the commencement of operations, Army teams have undertaken continuous rescue and relief missions in inundated and inaccessible areas, safely evacuating 355 stranded civilians so far. Rescue operations have often been carried out under challenging conditions, including the evacuation of civilians trapped for prolonged durations in flooded buildings and isolated habitations. Medical teams have provided immediate healthcare to those requiring assistance, while relief teams have distributed food, drinking water and other essential supplies to affected residents awaiting evacuation or restoration of normal connectivity. 🏥 NEW: Israel points to broken European Hospital as... it prepares to clear Gaza City hospitals Israeli Army Radio and the Times of Israel reported Saturday that the European Hospital in Khan Younis will serve as the replacement for all Gaza City hospitals as the army moves to seize the city — but Gaza’s Health Ministry says the facility is devastated and nowhere near ready to operate. In May this year, the hospital was hit by a heavy Israeli airstrike targeting a tunnel beneath the compound. The attack killed at least 28 people, caused massive damage to the facility (including roads and infrastructure), and led to the evacuation of its remaining patients. The Times of Israel described medical staff cleaning and clearing the compound today, after the IDF finally allowed access, and cited Israeli officials who said the UN and international aid groups are drawing up plans to restart the hospital “as an additional medical response” for the estimated one million Palestinians expected to be forcibly displaced. But Gaza’s Ministry of Health rejected that narrative, saying an initial assessment found massive damage to sewage, water, electricity, and oxygen systems, as well as to buildings and medical equipment. It warned that even if resources were provided immediately, it would take at least two months and $1.3 million just to restart the hospital at a minimal level, and six more months and another $3 million for full operation. The ministry stressed it will not evacuate any hospitals in Gaza governorate and renewed its demand for protection of health facilities and staff. A serious incident that occurred yesterday evening in the... Paediatrics ward at Ayub Teaching Hospital. A 2-month-old patient who was on oxygen and ventilator support required CPR. While the doctor was performing CPR, the patient’s attendants physically attacked the doctor. Despite the presence of police, the attendants assaulted and verbally abused the doctor in front of multiple medical staff. The attendants falsely accused the doctor of causing the patient’s death. The child had been brought in critical condition and all possible medical care and counselling were provided by the on-duty medical team. However, instead of cooperation, the attendants resorted to violence against the healthcare provider who was attempting to save the child’s life. This is the dark side of being a doctor.show more

We are deeply concerned by the recent actions of the National Medical Commission National Medical Commission regarding the new policies affecting Foreign Medical Graduates #FMGs . Despite multiple attempts by #FMGs to engage in constructive dialogue about these policies, the doors have been closed to them, leaving many feeling unheard and marginalized. Key Issues Highlighted: 1.Lack of Engagement with FMGs: •When FMGs approached the NMC to discuss the recent circulars impacting their education and career pathways, they were met with a closed door. This lack of openness contradicts the NMC’s stated commitment to inclusivity and transparency. •On other occasions, the NMC has publicly invited dialogue with medical professionals on various issues. The exclusion of FMGs from such conversations suggests a discrepancy in how different members of the medical community are treated. 2.The Need for Authentic Communication: •Effective policymaking requires genuine engagement with all stakeholders. FMGs, who represent a significant portion of the medical workforce, deserve to have their voices heard and their concerns addressed in a fair and transparent manner. •The perception that the NMC is avoiding meaningful dialogue with FMGs undermines trust and suggests a lack of willingness to address the real challenges faced by these dedicated professionals. Our Stance: We at @udfaindia believe that a body like the NMC, which is designed to represent and listen to the medical community, must be open to all its members. Ignoring or sidelining any group is counterproductive and contrary to the principles of equality and fairness. Rehab facility gives heartbreaking update on homeless Former Nickelodeon... star Tylor Chase. Eleven 11 Recovery, stepped in to provide treatment for the former ‘Ned’s Declassified’ star, after he received an outpouring of public support following a series of viral videos. Over the Christmas period, he was put on a medical hold in a Southern California hospital. Chase was taken to the rehab facility by a mental health crisis team but declined help and is back to living on the streets.
