For the past three to four years now, I... usually go on holiday twice a year — one international solo trip and one local family vacation. I do go for my solo vacation in spring and our family holiday is during the summer when the kids are on school break. Schools have finally shutdown for summer break last week and the kids are already all pumped up for our family vacation which will be coming up in few weeks from now. We haven't yet gone for our family summer vacation for this year but babe has already started making plans for our 2027 summer holiday. Last weekend, she brought up the idea of just the two of us going on a boat cruise next summer. She wants it to be just me and her without the kids. She suggested that we bring in a family member on invitation from Naija, such that there will be a family at home with the kids while we both go on a lovey-dovey boat cruise to western Europe. She advised that we should start saving up for the adventure by September. This woman and long term planning are five and six, and that virtue has been very helpful in helping us avoid financial pressure. We do everything with ease, thanks to her wisdom. For instance, two weeks before the end of the session that ended last week, we have already bought the kids school uniforms for 2026/27 academic session that will be starting in September; thanks to my wife's wisdom. If she hasn't suggested it, it wouldn't have even crossed my mind at all. I am awake now, staring at this beautiful woman sleeping peacefully next to me and I feel nothing but joy in my heart and total love for her. I am really blessed to have someone like her as my better half. I am the often chaotic and the more expressive person while she is the calm, quiet and better organised one. I... get this question a lot and it’s a tough one - both because there isn’t a single correct answer and because (like feeding and sleep) the topic brings out lots of strong opinions. But if you ask me, the family in this video has the right idea. Infants are born with a strong sucking reflex and pacifiers can help them to soothe and sleep. There’s even some evidence to suggest that sleeping with pacifiers might reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). In short: for babies (up to a year), I’m a big fan. But it’s not uncommon to see children with pacifiers well into toddlerhood, and in some cases, even beyond. And here I’d raise some important cautions. Children who rely heavily on pacifiers may be more prone to middle ear infections. And dentists note that prolonged pacifier use can affect your child’s teeth and create bite issues. Perhaps most importantly is their potential to impact expressive language development. Your child’s ability to speak is an important one. After a point, language shapes not only the content of our thinking, but the very structure of our cognition. By otherwise occupying the mouth over long periods of time, pacifiers may slow language development by limiting opportunities for expression. Speaking with a pacifier in the mouth can also lead to distortion of speech sounds (even when they aren’t in the mouth). All told, I’m an advocate for beginning to wean off of pacifiers at around a year of age - which is why this video spoke to me. My wife had to be away on official assignment... for three weeks, she was worried because senior man is just barely four months old and we don't have anyone living with us and couple with the fact that our first daughter just had a surgery. Things have been tough and the economy is not smiling and so we are both working hard to keep the family going. She was worried and almost cancelled the trip, but I knew we needed the trip as the allowance from it could sort some important things so I told her to go I will take care of the children since senior man was not on exclusive breastfeeding. On the day of the trip I could see the tears in her eyes which she was struggling to hide but I assured her not to worry. She had to carry breast pump along so she can be pressing the milk out until she returns. It been almost two weeks already and I been the one taking care of the three girls and senior man and we are all fine. Truly I have been exhausted because I have to also managed them along side my official responsibility which can be quite demanding too. All I can is that it is good to marry and an understanding and supportive partner. This my baby have been with me through thick and thin and Omo she deserves every sacrifice that I can make. Universities and High Schools have not moved rapidly enough... to guide students to have skills for the next decade. THEY HAVE FAILED. It is a massive crisis that can be averted by understanding what AI and Robotics will bring about. Solutions are knowing how to use these tools and new industries that will rise. But this situation is also on ALL OF US. No “job” is safe from founder to entry level in most industries. You and I, by what we do, will be “replaced” ultimately. What to do? AI and Robotics are tools, the next decade is owned by those who know how to use them expertly, but this is also temporary. We have to understand that what we do for “work” will change giving ultimately a greater value to those that are: Creative Flexible Always learning Willing to be wrong Love being human Love being alive Know history Covet wisdom Knowing all tech has downsides Building strong family and friends Realize many institutions have failed The first four are required for you to be able to live through this period with your sanity intact. The rest will allow you to thrive. There are no true careers at this point anymore. There are advocation and vocations which will either earn you money or give life meaning. We will learn that we are not “what we do”, just like we knew for 99% of human existence. Let that sink in. — You and I are far, far ahead of knowing this and we can do two things: 1) Laugh at the “clueless” 2) Help people understand with grace Go to Reddit if you are 1, in fact don’t follow me because you will not like this next decade and what I post. The owner Alnoor Kanji a very good friend and long time hotelier is one brave Kenyan who chose to be visionary and invested in a project that was adopted as a vision 2030 project The English Point Marina in Mombasa which finally went into administration. How it was done is one of the saddest thing and the matter is now court hence I will NOT delve too much into it. During the takeover the elderly mother of the owner ( she needed emotional care) was not even allowed to meet her son since he was locked out upon his return from his overseas travel. She finally passed away a few weeks after that dramatic takeover . The same owner is currently out of the country and you have found it fit to make a move for another of his property which is PinewoodBeachResort Pinewood Beach Resort that he has been passionately running with amazing scores as evidence. I have seen put love and care into the jewel in Galu Diani. You choose to physically move in during a peak period when the hotel is fully booked , you never saw the need to do that when it was quite and low season in May & June. To make matters worse your receiver manager is going physically against the young sons of the owner . Is that the way to handle a client? suppose the 200 members of staff who depend on this resort for a living went physical ? Doing business in this country is NOT for the faint-hearted and the least you can is to handle your clients in a humane way and also agree on modalities on how to service a loan etc. What is the use of throwing out the baby with the bathwater ? Matter is in court please allow the process to go full circle and also get profesional level headed receiver managers and not this type who are going physical. On behalf of Diani Hospitality Owners I condemn this violent act and law will also take its course since this qualifies as assault. It's a known known that banks in Kenya are good undertakers of businesses in distress and I am challenging you to make this move an exception rather than the rule. It’s Friday 8th March 2024. As I walk into... London’s iconic Westminster Hall for the graduation ceremony of Masters in Clinical Trials London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine , I count myself privileged to have my lovely wife Dr Yemisi Adeyeye and our daughter,Adesewa in my company. The master of ceremonies starts by reminding us that the date is international women’s day. I wished in my mind that my late mum was alive to see this. She sacrificed a commonwealth scholarship towards a Masters in the UK,just to make sure her kids were fine in a time family crisis. A crisis which cost her health. Indeed many mothers in our dear country 🇳🇬 (and across the world) continue to make untold sacrifices in the face of socioeconomic uncertainty. She was so excited about my Masters program but alas, faith would not allow her experience the joy of my graduation. As I take my seat with my colleagues in the front rows, I recollect other memories of her….. She home-schooled me as soon as I could hold a pen; while still in diapers. She ensured that I didn't have to go through nursery class ,even though my school had insisted. I had to write the promotion exam to primary 1 in my first week in Nursery school just to prove my case. She made sure I left primary school in class 4 after coaching me on the common entrance exams for secondary schools, while still in Primary 3. She always made sure I came top of my class in every exam and was sorely disappointed when I came 2nd in my final exam in primary 4 (by one mark). Safe to say she wasn’t amused when I told her to relax since I already had 6 offers for admission into secondary school! She felt I took my feet off the academic pedal. She even taught me, as an adult, how to drive my first car,a manual gear exchange Toyota. I still wonder why I bought that model;it was so stressful! She kept encouraging me to be the best I could ever be. To go to the places she could never go (even though she had an excellent academic knowledge of the world through her career as a geography teacher). To achieve the things she aspired to but could not accomplish because of the unfair cards she was dealt with. She raised me to be humble,kind,courteous,hardworking,easy going and gentlemanly. The only time she beat me was when I almost drowned after disobeying her instruction not to go swimming with friends. I now know that she caned me more out of fear of loosing me. I smile as I remember the tears… I wipe a tear off my face when my faculty is brought up the stage. As my name is called, I quietly say out her name and walk the podium. The steps I take on the stage were in her memory, a fitting tribute to the sacrifices she made over the years. Rest in Peace Mum; your legacy lives on and your foot prints in the sands of time will not be forgotten. Let’s all continue to honor the women who inspire us✌️show more

FROM INBOX | Hello Crimewatch....I want to raise awareness... on what people are going through at Showgrounds when looking for transport. It looks like some buses and mahwindi have sort the violent way to get passengers. So I was with my husband and our 3 month old son looking for transport to go to Ngezi. We ultimately wanted the bus that went straight to Ngezi or anything that was leaving Showgrounds immediately. The three in these videos started following us and at first i tried to just walk away claiming i needed water. We tol them we dont need a bus and were waiting for someone. One of them pulled me while I was carrying my baby in a baby carrier when we were close to a bus called Hwenje. They started getting violent with my husband threatening to hit him. One even picked up a stone threatening to fight him. One of the men then 'hit' the other to which the other who had gathered started shouting at him for hitting 'staff yebus' In my mind the safest option was to jump into the nearby bus which left my husband no choice other than to follow. After i had seated, i noticed they were doing the same thing to many others who will be forced to get into the bus seeking 'safety'. The older woman in the other video when she got in the bus one of those three men was shouting that he wanted to 'beat' her achiti 'ngavabude mother avo ndiri kuda nezvavo' . I later realized they were rather friendly with the bus conductor and that was how the bus was loading. People are being traumatized by these people.
