Today's #SaturdaySleeper is RHP Derek Vartanian (Campbell Baseball). He... comes to Campbell by way of Gaston College, where last season he pitched his way to a 3.08 ERA with an impressive strikeout-to-walk ratio of 76-to-9 across 76 IP. Slender build at 6'4", 200-lbs. Short, quick arm stroke and attacks from a high-three quarter slot. Vartanian's FB will sit in the 93-96 range, but this fall he topped out at 98. Features big time carry through the zone with upwards of 24" of IVB. There is still likely more in the tank, especially with better use of his lower-half. Vartanian features two distinct breaking balls with a SL and CB. High-80s gyro SL is still developing, but at times flashes effective late, lateral movement. Low-80s CB boasts big time depth with some teeth and almost true 12-6 break. His best secondary pitch is his Splitter. It plays really well off his FB as it sits 80-82, and features big time fade to the arm side with some tumble. Vartanian does an excellent job of killing spin, and the spin rate on his changeup will get as low as 800 rpm. Vartanian this spring will anchor Campbell's rotation and be the cornerstone of the Camels pitching staff. An advanced strike thrower whose stuff will only tick up, Vartanian profiles as a starter professionally and a potential Top 5 round pick this July.show more

Learning is something you and your baby do together.... You can think of the process as happening in three distinct stages, during which skills are transferred gradually from you to your little one: During the first stage, your baby is observing the behavior and skills of others. During the second, they begin to emulate these behaviors - and can find success with the support of a helpful adult (you) or more expert peer (often a sibling). And gradually they internalize these skills and perform them all by themselves. This video is a great example of the shared second phase. Infants explore the world with their mouths. But an important lesson of toddlerhood is that some things are for putting in our mouths, while others are not. This little one knows that we don’t eat the Play-Doh. But it sure is tempting! Watch as he breaks off a piece and brings it to his mouth. As he does his eyes lift and he realizes that Mom is watching - which alone prompts some introspection. He grins broadly, shakes his head and exclaims “No, no, no” - using Mom’s past words to affirm his decision to place the Play-Doh back on the table. Left to his own devices, who knows? But together, without exchanging a word, he managed to make the right choice. As a parent it’s important to remember the key role you play in the learning process. And that extends to your child’s behavior. Self-regulation begins as co-regulation. So be there. This sweet little guy was shared to IG by parentosa.show more

Israeli NBA rising star does not understand why people... hate Israel —— Deni Avdija, the Israeli NBA Portland Trail Blazers player who has been endorsed by LeBron James for an All-Star position, said in a New York Times profile published this week that he does not understand why people hate him, despite repeatedly expressing his love for and support of Israel. “I obviously stand for my country, because that’s where I’m from. It’s frustrating to see all the hate ... I’m from there, and I respect my country, and I stand behind it. I’m a proud Israeli because that’s where I grew up. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for Israel." Avdija said. NBA fans have speculated on social media that Avdija, who is currently ranked 5th in fan All-Star voting and 7th in overall NBA All-Star voting for the Western Conference, is receiving votes primarily because he is Jewish. Some fans even questioned how ex-Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard struggled to garner votes last season with the Milwaukee Bucks.show more

BREAKING NEWS: Cincinnati has landed a commitment from 2027... 5 star SG Kam Mercer (Kameron Mercer). Mercer was originally in the 2028 class but has since reclassified and will now be an upcoming senior. Currently ranked the 11th player in the class of 2028 prior to the announcement of his reclassification. Should be a consensus Top-20 player in 2027. Now becomes the highest rated ranked Bearcat in program history ahead of Cincinnati great Lance Stephenson. A full circuit moment for the Cincinnati native. Cincinnati was his first offer back in 2024 as an eighth grader. A Peach Jam Champion, Gold Medalist, State Champion. Believe the only high school player in recent years to have that elite pedigree is Cam Boozer. Mercer shared an exclusive message for the Bearcat fans following his commitment. “Bearcats a top-25 team in the country. Jerrod Calhoun has won everywhere he has been. I have no fear of UC not making the tournament even if it’s coach Calhoun’s first year. I fully believe that will be an NCAA Tournament team. Bearcats are back. We’re here to stay. Coach Calhoun is here to stay. This is what’s going on and I’m going to tell you how it’s going to happen.”show more

Instead of just talking about it, I wanted to... go through it and really break it down to figure out the exact reason for the difference in Jalen Duren's play between the regular season and the playoffs. *LONG BREAKDOWN COMING* First, lets list how much the difference was: Iso in RS: 82nd %ile Iso in PS: 21st %ile Post-ups in RS: 88th %ile Post-ups in PS: 59th %ile PPP on drives in RS: 1.18 ppp PPP on drives in PS: 0.80 Layups in RS: 79th %ile Layups in PS: 19th %ile It was a staggering drop off. Shocking to many of us who watched him all season. So, what happened? Well, #1 I think mentally he was letting his struggles get to him and he started to play out of control. Something that suggests this to me is this stat: He started to figure some things out himself in isolation over the last 2 games against the Cavs. He had six isolation possessions in the final two games against the Cavs; he scored on five of those possessions and drew a foul on the other. Game 6 he started to look confident and really made them pay out of isolation. I really think a ton of it was he got hit with a punch early against ORL and really struggled to handle the pressure and struggles after, and just kept stacking and stacking. So, him being in his own head is #1 for me. #2: His handle got exposed quite a bit. In the regular season, he only had a 4.2 TO% in isolation, which is incredible. In the playoffs, though, that spiked to 20 TO%. On drives in the RS, he had a TO% of 4%. In the PS, it jumped to 13.3%. The first clip below shows how the right-to-left cross he loved doing all season was really taken away from him. Too loose of a handle, and he often got his pocket picked trying this exact move over and over. I think having his go-to move taken from him shook him a bit and left him scrambling a bit in his head to find a counter. The second clip shows, imo, him starting to lose trust in his handle. He immediately turns his back to the defender, which is what you do when you're worried about losing the ball. But, even then, he loses control of the handle and it ends up in a turnover. If I'm the Pistons, I'm showing all his turnovers due to his handle and working with him on tightening his handle and also helping him get comfortable with a counter/second move so defenders don't just sit on the right-to-left cross. #3: I think he really struggled to adjust to the playoff whistle. In the regular season, he drew free throws on 21% of his isolations and 31% of his post-ups. In the PS, it dropped to 14% and 11%, respectively. There were many possessions where in the RS he would've got free throws, but did not in the PS and he was frustrated. In the third clip, you'll see how physical he was being played by Mobley (which we all want physicality in the game). But, in the RS, he probably is getting FTA's here. There are many examples of this where it felt like a lot of his value during the RS was being able to draw FTA's on his drives, and in the PS, refs just allowed more physicality, and he struggled to deal with it. #4: Ausar-Duren duo. I believe in this duo, and I do not think this was the main reason Duren struggled. However, I am not blind to the fact that there were obviously some possessions that hurt Duren. In the regular season, Duen actually got less efficient when Ausar wasn't on the floor. However, in the playoffs, Duren went from 51 TS% with Ausar on the floor (302 minutes) to 64 TS% with Ausar off the floor (121 minutes). In the 4th clip, you really see how the lack of spacing caused a tough shot from Duren. He gets a step on WCJ going right, and probably would prefer to then just use his strength to create spearation. However, he sees Suggs sitting in the right gap off of Ausar, which forces him to spin left. Once he spins left, Paolo is completely leaving Tobias open. This is one of the reasons I really think DET needs a spacing 4 because this should be an easy kickout from Duren to a shooter. He still should've made this pass to Tobias, but a legit shooting 4 I think would relocate to the corner and make an easier outlet/easier to see for Duren. But, he still coulda made the pass, tbf. Either way, you see how the lack of spacing from both Ausar and Tobias forced Duren into a really awkward drive where he was forced into an extremely tough shot. I think if the passing returned from Duren, some of these situations wouldn't happen. Hitting Ausar early as he cuts into the space would work, or hitting Tobias (who again shoulda be making himself more available) beyond the arc results in better offense. But, also, having better spacing probably allows Duren to just get to his original move once he beats WCJ off the dribble. and lastly #5: He really just didn't play well. I can't include any more clips (I'll put some in the immediate thread reply to display), but he really just didn't play well. Missed *a lot* of looks we're used to him making. His touch around the rim left him, looked like he really felt rushed in the paint. He was struggling to secure rebounds after dominating the glass all season (during the RS, he averaged 4.3 second chance points a game, in the PS it dropped to 2.3). During RS, he had a 22.0 DREB%, which dropped to 16.0% in the playoffs. So, I think a lot of factors played into why he struggled so much in the playoffs. My takeaway is I don't think these things are unfixable; actually, I think they're very fixable. Experience of dealing with what playoff physicality is I think is going to help moving forward. All young players have to adjust to that--I think Cade really learned that from NY series to this playoff run. Tightening his handle and just having a second move to go to is not something that should be considered impossible. I'd like to believe it's pretty likely with how much he works and the raw skill he already has with his handle. Pistons adding a legit spacer at the four I think solves a lot and will make Duren's life a lot easier. The most concerning part is mental. And we won't know an answer to that until the next playoffs. Did this experience help him on his journey towards becoming mentally strong and prepared enough to move forward? Did this run help him find a routine that helps him lock in mentally, as many players have said they had to discover? Or will the pressure from struggling last postseason get to him this upcoming postseason? Will he let mistakes get into his head, compound them, and start playing rashly? I don't think the second option will be the case, but no one will know until the next postseason. Honestly, I'm more concerned and critical of his defense in the playoffs (which at times was pretty good and at other times was an incredible struggle), but that would require its own thread. My ending thoughts: I still very much believe in Duren. This playoff run showed he has areas he must sharpen up and learn from, but at 22 that shouldn't be a shocker. He is incredibly talented and made a large jump during the RS. The PS posed challenges he didn't quite have answers to yet. But another run of experience, another offseason of training, and another year older should lead him down a good path. I am fully supportive of paying Duren and extending him. I am not at close to 50 million dollars. 35-40 million is where I think they'll settle on, and I'm fine with that. But, he's gotta learn from these playoffs! Every offseason he's gotten better, I don't have a reason to believe Jalen Duren won't learn and improve again this summer. He's only 22.show more

Are UFOs only a distraction for the easily distracted?... Are rumors of fake alien invasions only a deception for the easily deceived? Are those who are most concerned about a 'fake rapture' the ones who don't know what the real rapture will be? The Shift, 5D ascension and the "rapture" (second coming) are all the same. The real thing will be unmistakable and impossible to fake. Pleiadian teachings are the same as Jesus's teachings. Jesus was an incarnated Pleaidian soul who came to teach us how to transcend this 3D world by recognizing our inner divinity and choosing objective morality. The return of Jesus is the reunion with Pleiadians and Galactic Federation (angels of light, son of man = like humans) the true parents of humanity and protectors of Earth. Ancient scriptures were written by people who didn't understand spacecraft, star races or other dimensions. Words were used that could be understood in their time. This is difficult for some people to accept but the concept of evil can't be defeated in a dualistic reality. It will be left behind when we are gifted with unity consciousness and completely separated from the dark forces. This has all been a morality test to determine which souls are ready to become galactic citizens. Every war that's ever been fought has been between two sides believing they're righteous. Some of the worst atrocities committed have been in the name of "God". It's impossible to fight your way to peace on Earth. The battle is always within. This is what spiritual warfare means. The Shift will happen in a blink. As it says, "in the twinkling of an eye we will all be changed". It won't involve cataclysmic events, pole shifts or solar flares. It's not a plan by God or the universe, but Elohim of Galactic Federation. It will be initiated by a signal from Elder Ikai, who was Jesus's Spirit Guide and the male voice he heard speaking through telepathy. Jesus said he'll come back and take us to another place. He didn't say he'll return to rule a kingdom on this 3D Earth. He said "many mansions" have been prepared, meaning other densities and dimensions. He won't return as a mortal human but as his true self, Elder Sananda, Pleiadian leader of Merope. For those ascending it will be like waking from a dream. Ascension is not death. This will be the end of death and reincarnation. The sky will change colors and crafts will emerge from portals. You will remember who you are. Giant crystal transmitters placed thousands of years ago will rise from the ground. Crafts will land and our star families will greet us. There will be announcements and celebrations. Everyone will ascend in one big wave at once and those left behind will have the opportunity to join us later. Planetary ascension has never happened in human history. This is different than the "ascended masters" who have left their body in the past. There is no literal place called "hell" where souls are tortured eternally, but there are consequences for evil. Not everyone will ascend. From the perspective of this reality, people will disappear. When the moment comes "one shall be taken, and one shall be left behind". There will be chaos and fear for those who witness us disappear. Those who are left behind will be able to ascend individually as soon as they realize what's happened and make the choice to change. Some will follow seconds or minutes later. For others it could take months or years. No one will be left behind completely. Galactic Federation will still be here assisting. Crafts will still be seen. The cabal will say we were all abducted by UFOs. This is the narrative they're already building toward. They know about the Shift already but can't stop it. Nothing can stop our ascension. This 3D world will continue to get darker and will last long enough for everyone to either ascend or pass away. Those who die without ascending will start again on a new 3D Earth without dark forces. They will be primitive but will advance quicker without evil manipulation. After all souls are gone from this Earth, the dark forces will be removed completely. 5D Earth (Sheen) will be a paradise planet. "The lion will lie with the lamb." Humans will immediately become members of Galactic Federation and gain new abilities. There will be space travel to other planets, full disclosure of every secret that's been hidden and full access to details from past lifetimes. When will it happen? As scriptures say, it will happen when we least expect it; "like a thief in the night". Pleiadians say it will happen for the generations alive now. We are very close. Jesus said one of the signs will be when people react with fear and doubt seeing the son of man in the sky. This is happening right now. This is the final spiritual battle. Be ready.show more

TRANSFER TUESDAY: Miami Hurricanes Football had one of the... best portal processes of any team in the country, with UH transfer WR Sam Brown (Sam Brown jr.) being one of the best additions any team made to their WR room this offseason. Brown was a standout at Houston, and by most services was the top-rated WR in the transfer portal. A well-built (nearly 6’2, 195) perimeter receiver, Brown is a highly impressive athlete, boasting a 4.4 PAI (per Tracking Football), led by a 24’01 long jump (96th percentile), and posting a 4.45 forty and a 38 vertical in high school. He joins a now loaded, explosive offense for QB Cam Ward (Cameron Ward) and creates one of the best WR trios in college football with fellow WRs Jacolby George (Jacolby George) and Xavier Restrepo (Xavier Restrepo) Last year, he forced 20 missed tackles after catch, second-best among Big 12 WRs in 2023. And he stood out against top competition: 46% of his total receiving production came against in-state, P4 competition. Brown has high grades from NFL scouts coming into the season, and will be a part of maybe the most balanced, talent-laded skill position group in the country. He’ll be a part of what could be a special season for the 2024 Miami Hurricanes offense. 🔥🔥🔥 #ShrineBowlWhosNextshow more

Monastery of Mor Augin (St. Augin), an ancient Syriac... Orthodox Monastery, on the southern slope of Mount Izlo, located in area of Nsibin, southeastern, Türkiye. This historic site introduced monastic living to Mesopotamia and is still a significant pilgrimage destination for Syriac Orthodox Christians. It symbolizes the lasting impact of early Christian monastic practices. The monastery was founded in the first half of 4th Century AD, by Saint Awgin, a monk from El Kulzom, Egypt. Mor Augin came with 70 of his disciples to preach Christianity in Mardin Province which was controlled by Sasanian Empire. It had more than 350 monks in those periods and was one of the main spiritual centres in Mount Izlo and Turabdin. In 20th Century, there were more than 20 monks in the monastery. In 1915, Sayfo the monks witnessed the destruction of Syriac villages in the plains below. The monastery was also affected by violence. The last monk passed away in 1968. Due to persecution of Christians in Turkey, SURYOYE had to flee to Europe and other countries and few others moved to nearby villages in area of Turabdin. Saint Mor Augin is the traditional founder of Syriac monasticism. He originated from Qluzma in Egypt, and started off as a pearl diver who gave pearls to the poor and needy. In mid-life he decided to become a monk at the monastery of St. Pachomius, and from there he and his brotherhood, the holy 70 ancestors, set off to Bethnahrin (Mesopotamia), settling in the region of Mount Izlo. The remains of the monastery dedicated to his name still stands on the slopes of Mount Izlo, overlooking the Mesopotamian plain. His name testifies his success and his glory because it is translated as “the good man” (Bar Hebreus, vol. 1, 1872-1877, p. 85ff). As Mor Augin was a great and respectable monk, his word and achievement was known even in Byzantium (Constantinople) and by the Emperor Constantine. He said: “These three warriors are known in our kingdom: Antonius in Egypt, Illarion at the coast and Mor Augin who moved out of Egypt and come and settled down in your region and enlightened it. We plead and beg of him that he prays for us in front of Our Lord, so that we and our kingdom will be protected and safe.” (Tale of Saint Mor Augin). He’s called “Second Christ” in the Syriac tradition owning to the miraculous deeds he did. This certainly does not mean an equality between the both of them, rather it expresses the particularly tight succession of Mor Augin. Mor Augin and his companions filled and decorated the whole east with monasteries and churches, from Egypt to the border of Persia. In 363 AD, Saint Mor Augin passed away at a great age and advanced to the kingdom of heaven. “His body was buried in the cave underneath his monastery’s southern altar. His holy relics are kept till today in the monastery. May his prayers be with us” (P. Behnam, 1908, p- 18f). Patriarch of Antioch, H.H. Ignatius Zakka I, appointed Fr. Joachim Raban as the abbot of Mor Augin Monastery in April 2010. With the help of the Rabans and other employees of Mor Gabriel Monastery and SURYOYE in Europe, Fr. Joachim has restored some of the Monastery buildings. Restoration of buildings e.g. the main church and vital parts of the monastery are still ongoing till this day. 🎥© l.ianour (IG) #archaeohistoriesshow more

Caedan Wallace (#70 in the video clips) – This... looks like a good move from JES. Here’s my thoughts below and I’d be happy to answer any questions. I’m not going to do a video on Wallace since we’re talking about someone acquired for minimal compensation and was going to be waived pretty early in the offseason process. But there’s some reasons to be optimistic. Wallace was a 3rd round pick in 2024, which was before Vrabel arrived in NE – we see this often where players from a previous regime just aren’t valued by the new staff. I’ve watched all of Wallace’s 2024 snaps, plus his preseason 2025 snaps. He was used all over the place by NE including 6th OL, Tackle, and Guard. So he comes in as a young player and some NFL experience on both sides of the formation. My conclusion is that Wallace should be a near lock to be on the Dolphins 53 man roster. I see him instantly as no worse than OL 8 on this roster behind the starting 5, Salyer and maybe Andrew Meyer (who has C versatility). Wallace would get the leg up on Campbell because of his T versatility. But nobody else (including Heck) would really be in that conversation. Assuming health across the board – keeping 9 OL with this combination and having 8 active on gameday would be a solid group in my opinion. Wallace on the field isn’t going to wow you. He’s not the most powerful, he’s not the most athletic – but he’s also pretty decent in both regards. He’d be the type of guy that you’d be OK with as your 5th starter, but you’d still be exploring options to upgrade. I think he’s pretty even in both his pass pro and run game with mostly pretty solid reps and a handful of really good and really bad reps. There could be some untapped potential in the OZ run game where I think his athleticism (particularly at G) could come out, but that’s still a projection. In the end, I like this signing a lot for the positional need and the time of year.show more

Universities and High Schools have not moved rapidly enough... to guide students to have skills for the next decade. THEY HAVE FAILED. It is a massive crisis that can be averted by understanding what AI and Robotics will bring about. Solutions are knowing how to use these tools and new industries that will rise. But this situation is also on ALL OF US. No “job” is safe from founder to entry level in most industries. You and I, by what we do, will be “replaced” ultimately. What to do? AI and Robotics are tools, the next decade is owned by those who know how to use them expertly, but this is also temporary. We have to understand that what we do for “work” will change giving ultimately a greater value to those that are: Creative Flexible Always learning Willing to be wrong Love being human Love being alive Know history Covet wisdom Knowing all tech has downsides Building strong family and friends Realize many institutions have failed The first four are required for you to be able to live through this period with your sanity intact. The rest will allow you to thrive. There are no true careers at this point anymore. There are advocation and vocations which will either earn you money or give life meaning. We will learn that we are not “what we do”, just like we knew for 99% of human existence. Let that sink in. — You and I are far, far ahead of knowing this and we can do two things: 1) Laugh at the “clueless” 2) Help people understand with grace Go to Reddit if you are 1, in fact don’t follow me because you will not like this next decade and what I post. You are 2 and thank you. Even if you and I have not solved this issue, we can help people understand what is ahead and with determination and creativity bound together to solve it locally. Or human family has done this millions of times. The evidence is: you are here. The Neo Luddite movement has not even begun and it will potentially rip apart society even more than all the fashionable moment in the recent past has. These Luddites will have a good point with the wrong answers cooked up by dying academics that cling to labels, “virtues” and victim hood. It will be readymade for some governments to enter in as “big daddy” to “help us”. You will not like what they do, but you will only know when it is too late. It will include YOU “volunteering” to “leave” by 60, to “help out” CanadaPod style. “Brian, I’m 24 what do I do?”. I hope to do much more here to help. But I do know this: 1) Learn a trade or vocation because it’s valuable. It may also be free to low cost if you do it right. 2) Learn everything you can about USING AI and TRAINING YOUR AI. Your expertise will be in the top 1% for a decade. But not forever. 3) Understand Bitcoin and how it will rise while other things sink. This is a short list for now. We will know more moving forward. When you see videos like this posted below, know one thing: Many of these folks had no real family of mental and physical support. Maybe no parent or one parent. Maybe only a broke system to prepare them for—nothing. This was not their doing. Now it is not your “job” to help them, it is your survival to help them if that is what you need. See some day after the dust settles these 20 year olds will be 40 year olds and running YOUR world. And at some point you may need them more than you think you do. You will need them, as they need you now. THIS IS WHAT PAST WISDOM KNEW. The elders of the past never found the need to piss on the youth and hope for the best. THE YOUTH ARE OUR BEST, let us all find ways to change it, even if every aspect of “the system” wants us to berate them into the ground.show more
