Human Trafficking Complaint Spurs Police Action in Alberton: Senior... Velocity Capital Executive Under Investigation Johannesburg – 5 December 2025 A senior executive at New York-based private equity firm Velocity Capital Management is under formal investigation following a human trafficking complaint lodged at Brixton Police Station on 26 November. Nishant Jain, Vice President at Velocity Capital, is the primary subject of the probe, which has triggered a series of high-level law enforcement operations across Gauteng. In a swift follow-up raid on Friday, police and immigration officials descended on a warehouse in Alrode, Alberton, resulting in the arrest of three foreign nationals found to be in South Africa illegally. The multi-agency operation, conducted at 12:15 on 5 December, involved the Ekurhuleni Tactical Response Team, Brixton Detectives, the Provincial Investigation Unit, and Home Affairs Immigration Officers. During the raid, officers inspected documents of workers on site. Three men were detained after failing to produce valid permits or passports: - Ashok Basti (Dubai passport V7597594) - Dinanath Vishvakarma (passport S5585682) - Kishori Maharajganj (passport R2506560) The trio is currently being held at Alberton SAPS and will be handed over to the Department of Home Affairs for deportation processing and further investigation into possible trafficking links. Authorities have described the warehouse raid as directly connected to the ongoing human trafficking case. The Gauteng Provincial Investigation Unit is leading the probe and says additional arrests and searches are likely as new evidence emerges. Neither Nishant Jain nor Velocity Capital Management has issued a public statement at this stage. The investigation remains active and is expected to widen in the coming days.show more

Vosloorus Residents Shut Down Foreign-Owned Spaza Shops Over Missing... Local Spaza Shop Owner Vosloorus Residents in Vosloorus are currently closing foreign-owned spaza shops across the township in protest over the disappearance of 27-year-old Mazwi Mpumelelo Kubheka, who has been missing since 2 April 2026. Kubheka, who ran a tuck shop in Marimba Gardens after the community had evicted previous foreign tenants, vanished while on his way to deposit rent and buy stock. Police have questioned suspects, including a Somali national, but released them. Today residents marched to the Vosloorus police station alongside ActionSA, demanding his return. Many foreign-owned shops remained closed today, Tuesday as the community vowed to keep them shut until Mazwi is found. Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce Wedding: 20-Min Vows &... Handkerchiefs for Guests — (Video: AI) Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce tied the knot on July 3 at Madison Square Garden in NYC, complete with forest-like decor, A-list performers like Paul McCartney and Stevie Nicks, and plenty of bars and food stations for the massive crowd. The couple each delivered 20-minute vows read from gold books — a length that feels a bit much no matter who you are. At least they thoughtfully provided embroidered handkerchiefs for guests to handle the emotions. It was a star-studded, high-production celebration fitting their level of fame, but the vow duration stands out as over-the-top even for a power couple. Do you think that’s too long for vows? Would you sit through 20 minutes each? Talk about forever.show more

❗️🌊🇺🇲 - Tropical Storm Helene has caused catastrophic conditions... in western North Carolina, particularly affecting communities around Asheville and Boone. The National Weather Service issued an urgent warning about a potential dam failure at Lake Lure, urging residents downstream to seek higher ground. The storm has led to unprecedented flash flood emergencies in Asheville, with the state’s Department of Transportation advising that all roads in western NC are closed. Governor Roy Cooper described the storm as possibly the worst in modern history for the region, with over 29 inches of rain reported in parts of Yancey County and significant road washouts. GUYS!! NIGERIA, AEDC, AND TINUBU HAPPENED TO MY SMALL... COMMUNITY IN LUGBE YESTERDAY!!!😥 For almost 3 years since I built my small hut in this community, we have been battling with epileptic power situation due to the overloaded Transformer which has been serving 3 communities including mine. In December 2025, after myself and a few community members spearheaded a regime change and ensured a proper election was conducted. After the election, we told the newly elected chairman (who happens to be my very very good friend) that the priority is for us to get our own dedicated Transformer for the community. Initially, we were thinking of buying. But considering it will cost over N20million to buy a 500KVA Transformer and another N15million plus for accessories and installation, the mission looked impossible. Then I and others told the Chairman that we can actually give it a try an reach out to the aedcelectricity for a Transformer given that the NERC Nigeria has told Nigerians that it is the responsibility of the DISCOs to provide Transformer and any power related infrastructure to any community or area in need of such infrastructure. Considering the Nigerian factor, many, infact, almost the entire community said it was never going to be possible for AEDC to give us a Transformer free of charge. But as someone who has been an advocate of government and who has always benefited from government by following due process, I encouraged my community and the Chairman that this is actually worth a try. In January 2026, we drafted a Transformer request letter and submitted to the AEDC Head Office at Wuse Zone 4, and the processes began. Low and behold, in less than 4 months, the AEDC, yesterday, delivered a brand new 500KVA Transformer with complete accessories to my community FREE-OF-CHARGE!🤸♂️🕺 I have told my community people that we have started benefitting our own share of the N3.3trillion approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to GENCOs and all of us have agreed that come 2027, it is TINUBU OR NOTHING!!!🤗💪🏾 God bless the AEDC! God bless NERC!! God bless President Tinubu!!! God bless Nigeria 🇳🇬🙏🏾show more

LOOK AT THESE STUDENTS…THESE ARE THE KIDS OUR TAX... DOLLARS ARE PAYING FOR. WHAT DO YOU NOTICE???? Story ⤵️ At Stockton High School in California, teenagers walked out to protest ICE deportations, chanting slogans and waving signs as cameras rolled. Supporters called it bravery. But critics saw something else…not spontaneous student activism, but the predictable result of years of one-sided political messaging inside classrooms. For many on the right, this wasn’t just about immigration. It was about authority, borders, and whether public schools are educating…or indoctrinating. They argue that immigration enforcement is federal law, not oppression. That national borders aren’t “optional.” That schools should teach civics, not cultivate protest culture. They point out a simple reality: ICE exists because immigration laws exist. If laws passed by Congress are framed as immoral by default, what message does that send to the next generation about the rule of law itself? This wasn’t just a walkout. It was a flashpoint in a country already divided over sovereignty, security, and national identity. Should public schools be encouraging this kind of political activism…or should they be focused on teaching respect for the law and the Constitution?show more

As promised by the Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi... in the run up to the just concluded Assembly Elections, works on cleaning of Yamuna have already begun in the right earnest, with trash skimmers, weed harvesters & a dredge utility craft already starting cleaning operations in the river today. Hon'ble Delhi LG VK Saxena LG Delhi yesterday met the Chief Secretary and ACS (I&FC) and asked them to start work immediately. At the outset a four pronged strategy has put in place to tackle the issue comprehensively. 1. To begin with, the trash, garbage and silt in the Yamuna river stream will be removed. 2. Simultaneously cleaning operations in the Najafgarh Drain, Supplementary Drain and all other major drains will start. 3. At the same time, a daily watch on the existing STPs in terms of their capacity and output will be maintained, and 4. A time bound plan in terms of construction of new STPs/DSTPs on drains etc to meet the actual shortfall of treating about 400 MGD of sewer will be put in place and operationalized. The execution of this ambitious plan that targets cleaning the river in about 3 years, will require seamless coordination between various agencies and departments that include DJB, I&FC, MCD, Environment Department, PWD and DDA. Monitoring of the abovementioned works will be done at the highest level on a weekly basis. In addition to this, the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has been directed to keep strict vigil on discharge of untreated effluent into the drains by Industrial Units in the City. It may be noted that the rejuvenation of Yamuna had started in mission mode in January 2023, when the NGT had constituted a High Level Committee (HLC) under the Chairmanship of Hon'ble LG V.K Saxena. However, after 5 monthly meetings of the said HLC which was closely monitoring cleaning operations, the then AAP Government under Arvind Kejriwal moved the Supreme Court and got the NGT order stayed by the then CJI Chandrachud on 10.07.23. Thereafter, works of Yamuna Rejuvenation had again been stalled and CoD/BoD levels that had started improving slightly on a month on month basis, became worse with pollution reaching record levels early this year. *DUC shifted near the signature bridge and is going to float towards Vasudev ghat *Trash Skimmer has started working at Vasudev Ghat *Weed harvester near Signature Bridge Another weed harvester machine has started working at ITO.show more

IOBM student body unites to demand justice for a... fellow female student who was reportedly expelled for complaining about alleged harassment she faced as the University responded by accusing her of being disrespectful to the staff. Universities in Pakistan for most part believe that students can be isolated, picked out and bullied and as there are no student unions who would care. However, the IOBM student body proved the administration wrong which as per reports has now led to firing of the transport staff member against whom the student had originally complained. It has also been reported that the University is now reconsidering the expulsion of the Student. The student must be reinstated at the earliest and inquiry should be launched against her hasty expulsion and allegations of harassment. This is not the first time a University has decided to act against alleged victims and whistleblowers. In 2021 a male student was expelled by IBA for publicly reporting the harassment of a female staff member by senior male staff members. The expulsion led to student protests resulting in the reinstatement of the whistle blower following my committee inquiries which found the male staff members guilty of harassment. Instead of knee jerk reactions to first complaints and then retreating under protest Universities must ensure proper mechanisms and transparency giving confidence to students to come forward instead of putting them under fear or coercive actions against them. The inquiries will not only embolden students but would also give fair hearing to those accused of harassment. Unfortunately even the premier institutes who claim to have comprehensive anti harassment policies in place fail to implement the same when the need arises and even try to rig inquiry committees or create hurdles for them. In 2014 when a professor at LUMs was accused of sexual harassment the first reaction of the administration and fellow faculty was to rush his defence and the LUMS inquiry committee also exonerated him and it was only later before the Ombudsman that the professor was found guilty resulting in the professor getting fired. Whether it is incidents of harassment, lack of facilities on campus, lack of maintenance of amenities and transport, issues of examination and other disciplinary measures the conduct of university administrations repeatedly remind us of the need for actual functioning Students Unions and Student representation within the university's governing bodies.show more

Attack on Iranian Protesters in Vienna Following Peaceful Demonstration... On the evening of 4 March 2026, around 21:30–22:00, Iranian activists held a peaceful demonstration in front of the Imam Ali Center to express their political views and to protest against the Islamic Republic of Iran. The demonstration was officially registered and authorized and took place in the presence of the Austrian police. Throughout the event, participants remained peaceful and exercised their democratic right to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly. However, during the demonstration we were repeatedly threatened by individuals affiliated with the Islamic Republic, who were standing across the street. Some of them made explicit threatening gestures, including hand signs imitating the act of beheading. Around 21:30, after most participants had already left and while a small group of organizers and logistics volunteers were packing the remaining equipment, the police temporarily left the immediate area. At that moment, a group of individuals suddenly emerged from inside the Imam Ali Center, where they had apparently remained hidden. They launched a violent attack against the remaining members of our team. During the attack: Hot water was thrown at protesters. Several attackers were seen concealing knives or sharp objects under their jackets. Members of our organizing and logistics team were physically assaulted. As a result of the attack, approximately eight to nine people were injured, several of them seriously enough to require hospital treatment. Some participants, including women, suffered severe shock and trauma. Fortunately, the police returned quickly after being called and were able to prevent the situation from escalating further. Video evidence exists showing the threatening gestures made during the demonstration as well as the first moments of the attack. The initial seconds of the assault were recorded before the situation rapidly escalated. As organizers and eyewitnesses, we consider this incident a serious act of politically motivated violence against peaceful protesters exercising their democratic rights in Austria. We call on the Austrian authorities to fully investigate this attack and ensure the safety of Iranian activists who peacefully advocate for freedom and human rights. Freedom of expression and peaceful assembly must be protected. Violent intimidation by regime-affiliated groups cannot be tolerated in a democratic society. These are actual Freedom Riders, now elderly, sitting together... decades after risking their lives to challenge segregation in the American South. he original courageous Freedom Riders movement began in 1961. The first group, organized by Congress of Racial Equality (CORE), had 13 original Freedom Riders: • 7 Black riders • 6 white riders They left Washington, D.C. on May 4, 1961, riding interstate buses into the Deep South to challenge segregation in bus terminals after Supreme Court rulings had already declared it unconstitutional. After brutal mob attacks in Alabama, including the firebombing of a bus in Anniston and savage beatings in Birmingham and Montgomery, more activists joined. The movement quickly expanded beyond the original 13. By the end of 1961, more than 400 Freedom Riders had participated across the South. Many were arrested and sent to Mississippi’s notorious Parchman Prison. Hezekiah Watkins At just 13 years old, Watkins became the youngest Freedom Rider ever arrested. His involvement happened almost by accident when he went to the Jackson, Mississippi, Greyhound station to see the riders arrive. In the chaos, he was swept up by police and sent to the notorious Parchman State Penitentiary. Initially placed on death row to intimidate him, he spent several days in the prison before being released. This traumatic experience did not deter him; he went on to become a lifelong activist, dedicated to educating others about the struggle for justice in Mississippi. Joan Trumpauer Mulholland A rare figure in the movement, Mulholland was a white woman from a privileged Southern background who turned her back on social expectations to fight for racial equality. By the time she joined the Freedom Rides, she was already a seasoned activist involved in sit-ins. In 1961, she was imprisoned in Parchman for over two months. She later became the first white student to enroll at Tougaloo College, a historically Black institution, and was a primary organizer for the 1963 March on Washington. She famously survived a near-lynching during the Woolworth’s lunch counter sit-in. Ameen Tuunagane (Willie James) Known during the movement as Willie James, Tuunagane was a relentless civil rights organizer and Freedom Rider. He was part of the waves of activists who traveled to Jackson, Mississippi, to challenge Jim Crow laws. His work extended far beyond the buses; he was deeply involved in voter registration drives and community organizing, often operating in high-risk areas where the threat of police and vigilante violence was constant. His commitment focused on the intersection of political power and basic human dignity. Carol Ruth Silver A recent law school graduate at the time, Silver joined the Freedom Rides to put her legal principles into practice. She was arrested in Jackson and, like many others, served time in Parchman Penitentiary. During her incarceration, she kept a secret diary on scraps of paper, documenting the harrowing conditions and the psychological tactics used by guards. Her later career was defined by this experience; she became a prominent lawyer and politician in San Francisco, continuing her advocacy for civil rights and educational reform for decades. Kredelle Pettway Pettway was a dedicated activist who participated in the movement during the height of the 1960s racial tensions. As a young woman, she joined the ranks of those demanding the desegregation of public facilities in Alabama and Mississippi. Her contribution highlights the essential role of local youth and women in maintaining the momentum of the movement. She faced the constant threat of the Ku Klux Klan and state-sanctioned violence, standing firm in the belief that the "separate but equal" doctrine was a moral and legal failure.show more

The name of the joint IDF, Shin Bet, and... police operation to rescue the four hostages from the Gaza Strip is "Seeds of Summer." At 11:00 a.m. the order was given to the Yamam and Shin Bet officers to raid two multi-story buildings in central Gaza's Nuseirat, where Hamas was holding hostages Noa Argamani, Almog Meir Jan, Andrey Kozlov, and Shlomi Ziv. The buildings were about 200 meters apart, and the decision to go for both simultaneously, and not just one of the sites, was due to the possibility that Hamas may murder the hostages after identifying the rescue operation. Argamani was held by Hamas guards alone in the home of a Palestinian family, while the other three hostages were held at a separate home. According to the IDF, Hamas pays such families to hold the hostages in their homes. At the home where Meir Jan, Kozlov, and Ziv were held, a major gun battle erupted, during which Yamam officer Chief Inspector Arnon Zamora, the commander of the rescue team at the second building, was critically wounded by Hamas fire. As the three hostages and Zamora were being extracted, their vehicle came under fire, leading it to get stuck. Other forces quickly reached the scene to rescue them, bringing them to a makeshift helipad in Gaza. There was a large amount of gunfire and RPG fire on the rescue forces amid the operation, leading the ground troops and the Air Force to carry out major strikes in the area to protect themselves and the rescued hostages. The IDF acknowledges that it killed many Palestinian civilians amid the fighting, although it places the blame on Hamas for holding hostages in a civilian environment. Hamas operatives also fired anti-aircraft missiles at Israeli helicopters over the area amid the operation, without success.show more

A large tank at an aerospace factory in Garden... Grove started leaking. The chemical inside - methyl methacrylate, or MMA - is a clear liquid used to make airplane canopies and strong glues for aircraft parts. When air got in through the leak, the chemical began to harden and turn solid…just like superglue or epoxy does when you leave the tube open. This hardening process creates a lot of heat. With thousands of gallons reacting at once, the heat keeps building and speeds up the reaction even more. This “runaway” effect has raised the tank’s temperature, damaged the tank walls, and is releasing toxic fumes. Timeline • May 21, 2026 (Thursday, ~3:40 p.m.): The 34,000-gallon tank at the GKN Aerospace facility in Garden Grove develops a leak. Air reaches the roughly 7,000 gallons of MMA inside, starting an exothermic curing reaction. Orange County Fire Authority responders arrive on scene on Western Avenue. • May 21–22, 2026: Heat from the reaction builds quickly. The temperature of the material rises from normal room temperature to about 90 °F. Toxic vapors begin venting from the tank and internal pressure starts to increase. • May 22–24, 2026: Evacuation orders are issued and expanded for safety. Approximately 40,000 residents in Garden Grove and nearby areas are told to leave. GKN Aerospace chemists and local hazmat teams monitor the tank around the clock and work on cooling and containment steps. • As of May 25, 2026: The tank is still unstable. The runaway chemical reaction continues, and emergency crews remain on site performing damage-control operations. The liquid MMA itself is highly toxic. If the tank fails completely, thousands of gallons could spill into storm drains and waterways, causing serious long-term environmental damage. At the same time, the ongoing heat and gas buildup raise the danger of a sudden pressure-related rupture or explosion that could send a large cloud of toxic vapors over this heavily populated part of Southern California. The situation has not been brought under control.show more

Ranveer Singh’s biggest mistake was marrying Deepika Padukone. Ranbir... Kapoor ditched her years ago after cheating (something he later admitted publicly), leaving her deeply hurt and traumatized. She has spoken about the pain of that relationship and how it took time to move on. Yet recently, when the two met at Mumbai airport, she was seen waving, stopping her buggy for him, sharing a warm hug, riding together, flying to Delhi, and exchanging another affectionate hug on their return. What kind of hypocrisy is this? A woman who once described the emotional damage from that breakup is now casually embracing the same man in public—multiple times in one day—while being a married woman and mother. They even collaborated on major films like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Tamasha after the split, showing the past was never fully left behind. Meanwhile, Ranveer has been the supportive husband who stood by her through everything, yet moments like these make people question the boundaries and the narrative of “moving on.” Fans of their on-screen chemistry may celebrate the reunion and speculate about a YJHD 2, but for many watching the videos, it simply looks like old familiarity overriding the history of heartbreak.show more

🚨🇭🇰 HONG KONG HIGH-RISE INFERNO: FOUR DEAD, FIREFIGHTERS STILL... BATTLING THE BLAZE A towering firestorm ripped through a housing estate in Hong Kong today - a blaze so aggressive it jumped between multiple high-rise towers, choked the skyline with black smoke, and killed at least four people, including one firefighter. This was not a small incident. This was a vertical disaster in one of the densest cities on Earth. Reports say residents were trapped inside units as flames climbed scaffolding - the bamboo kind Hong Kong still uses during renovations, which becomes a giant fuse when conditions are dry. And Hong Kong has been sitting under a red fire danger warning for days. Perfect storm. Injury count so far: 3, 2 in critical condition. Alarm level escalation: from No. 1 to No. 4 in under 45 minutes - the 2nd-highest emergency classification the city has. Firefighters fought through the afternoon and were still at it after dark. Buses rerouted. Roads shut. Residents evacuated under falling ash. The deeper problem? Hong Kong’s aging residential blocks + renovation scaffolding + extreme dry conditions = a structural risk nobody is comfortable talking about until something like this happens.
