For those who worry about the lack of controllers... on Apple Vision Pro: You don't need controllers for artificial movement in VR. Here is the hand tracking alternative we built for Wooorld called 'Glider'. Pull it toward wherever you want to go. Pull it further to go faster. Movement is even more complicated in Wooorld compared to other VR apps & games as we have two modes of movement: 'Map Navigation' (first half of the video) and 'Locomotion' (second half of the video). And in many ways Glider feels better and more natural than controller thumbstick as it utilizes all three axes. *We still have lots of improvements planned for Glider.show more

I tried the 220° FOV #VirtualReality optical system by... Hypervision, which employs two micro-OLED displays per eye. It is incredibly immersive, and I describe all my impressions in my latest article: The thing that surprised me the most is that the "seam" between the two lenses becomes almost invisible when you put your eyes in. And the company claims it can even do better than this. Will we see this soon in some consumer VR headsets? It is actually a bit too expensive (just the cost of the displays is $1.5K!), but hopefully it could be integrated in enterprise ones... CES=Chinese Electronics Show. Almost every booth we visited had... a Chinese speaker. I gave a tour to the technology leaders from a big Chinese company. We visited Booster Robotics, pictured here. Among about a dozen others. Most are Chinese companies. Or seeing the Antigravity 360-degree drone. Which was the thing that made me drool the most. You put on a VR headset and it is like flying. All of those people who constantly cry about “cancel... culture” are at it again cancelling a company called Liberty Safe. This comes after they spent months trying to cancel Bud Light. These people will say, “but we are justified,” and they are not. That’s not how this works though. People boycott and “cancel” companies and people when they feel there is a justification to do it. It doesn’t mean that it has to be justified in your mind, but it is in theirs. It’s just so hypocritical to me when people attack others for canceling companies but they go ahead and do the exact same thing themselves. For those who aren't familiar with this story, the Liberty Safe company gave a passcode to the FBI so that they could access a suspected criminal's safe. Our software has been the focus of the Otter... Pup 2 mission to-date as it guides Otter Pup 2 safely and steadfastly towards docking. As we get closer, our docking mechanism, Nautilus, will spring into action. As we’ve been doing for partners throughout the mission, we’d like to give a shoutout to our partners at Honeybee Robotics, a Blue Origin Company, a Blue Origin company. The Honeybee team designed and built the protective clamshell for our Nautilus end effector, shielding it from atomic oxygen, micrometeoroids, and other features of the harsh space environment. They also developed Nautilus’ contact absorber, which helps cushion the initial contact between Otter Pup 2 and its client during docking.
