2024 has been a pivotal year in my journey... to better health. After getting down to 315 lb from a high of 376 over the summer of 2023, things went off the rails and I found myself back at 360 lb in September of this year. I decided that enough was enough and recommitted to the #NSNG lifestyle. I set a goal to be under 300 by New Year’s Eve, but as of this morning, I weighed in at 307, so I didn’t quite make it. HOWEVER, I lost 53 pounds in 110 days, which is nothing short of amazing and puts me in a great position to crush 2025. Goals for 2025: 1. Be under 300 by January 17th (my official weigh in day) 2. Be at or below 250 by June 27th 3. Be at or below 200 by December 31st 4. Exercise every day, with at least 3 days lifting weights at the gym, taking walks on days I don’t lift. Steps for Success: 1. Following Robyn Dobbins lead, I bought a daily planner to log exercise and measurements. 2. Continue following #NSNG with LIL days on my birthday, Mardi Gras, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day. 3. Checking in with my NSNG group text regularly and speaking up when I’m struggling. (Keeping my mouth shut when I was struggling over the last school year was foolish) 4. Continue with my creative side with photography and writing, both of which are an outlet. Here’s to a great 2025! Last flight of 2025. São Paulo to London. One... final Atlantic crossing this year… This year asked more than I expected. There were extraordinary moments, stars over the ITCZ, dawn breaking across continents, the quiet privilege of a flight deck at night, but also periods that were heavy, uncertain, and quietly hard. Some of that showed. Some of it didn’t. Not everything needs to. Aviation has a way of holding a mirror up to you. On good days it amplifies confidence and joy; on tougher ones it demands humility, discipline, and support from the people around you. I leaned on that support more than once this year, colleagues, friends, family, and conversations that arrived at exactly the right moment to help me navigate life’s turbulence. Their wise counsel has kept me ‘grounded’ when needed and for this I’m extremely grateful. To everyone else who followed along, reached out, challenged me, or simply stayed for the avgeek nonsense, thank you. Genuinely. This space is often polarising but for me it’s more than photographs of aeroplanes. It became somewhere to reflect, to question, and occasionally to admit that things weren’t simple. That mattered. As the year closes, change feels close. New projects are forming. New conversations are waiting. A new book, Jumbo, launches in the early new year, and perhaps a different flight deck lies ahead, maybe a return to Boeing is on the cards. The curiosity is back, and so is the excitement. Some of the best conversations don’t happen on frequency. They happen when the door’s closed and the crew room is quiet. 🤯 Also today, the Astrakhan gas processing plant was... likely damaged during the night. NASA satellites detected a fire in the area of the sulphur storage facility and the Enersal granulated sulphur production plant. The plant processes up to 3.2 million tonnes of petroleum products annually and produces a significant portion of sulphur (~3.3–3.5 million tonnes per year), which is used to manufacture explosives in Russia. Publicly available information indicates that the plant has been successfully attacked at least twice. 🔴Reuters reported that after the drone attack on 22 September 2025, the plant completely stopped production of motor fuel due to a fire at a facility with a capacity of about 3 million tonnes per year. According to sources, the enterprise may resume production only in a few weeks or even months. 🔍According to our observations, two locations were affected: 1. A key part of the plant responsible for converting gas condensate and light hydrocarbons into finished fuel and gases. 2. Buildings on the territory of "Production 1", which is also likely to be involved in the main production processes. 🔴In addition, the plant was successfully hit on the night of 3 January this year. According to our data, the combined technological unit for processing stable gas condensate U-1.731 was damaged. Unusual Activity at the Tunnel Linked to the ENTC... Facility in Esfahan - prior to US Strikes An unusual development has occurred at the tunnel connected to the ENTC facility in Esfahan. As no analysts or official IDF statements have addressed this so far, I decided to take a closer look. In the satellite images below, three main entrances to the underground complex can be identified. This facility is part of Iran’s uranium conversion program, where yellowcake is transformed into UF6 gas for subsequent enrichment at Natanz or Fordow. It is likely that this complex also serves as a storage site and possibly a redundancy facility for the surface-level operations. Based on low-resolution satellite imagery taken between June 17 and 22, the following observations can be made: Entrance 1 – Earthworks were detected along the northern approach to the entrance on June 20, followed shortly by similar activity on the southern side. It appears that the entrance itself was covered in the process. Entrance 2 – Earthworks began near a small adjacent opening and quickly extended to cover the entire access route, with the asphalt becoming fully concealed. It seems this entrance was also covered. Entrance 3 – The activity here is less clear. Earthmoving was observed along the access route, and in the latest image, the path appears significantly darker. It is uncertain whether the entrance was covered, but this remains a possibility. There is no indication that this tunnel was struck in the salvo of Tomahawk missiles launched by the U.S. Navy, although some media outlets reported that the site had indeed been hit. In summary, this tunnel — while not an enrichment facility — is connected to Iran’s nuclear program and appears to have survived the Israeli-American operation. The status of the equipment located beneath dozens of meters of bedrock remains unknown. I am awaiting higher-resolution imagery to confirm this analysis and will provide updates as new information becomes available.show more
