Spent the last 2.5 hours on my hands and... knees smoothing out every connection in the interlocking rubber floor tiles in my gym with a tiny screwdriver. Even in the age of AI it’s still satisfying to do the brainless tedious work yourself sometimes.show more

As a personal side project, I've been prototyping a... video game. As a former games founder, the process of making a game is deeply satisfying and creative, don't outsource that to AI. Use AI to work with you to bring your vision to life. Here's how I'm trying it:show more

y[1+(y′)^2]=k The Brachistochrone problem is the ultimate "work smarter,... not harder" of the physical world. While a straight line is the shortest distance, the cycloid is the fastest path because it front-loads acceleration. It’s a beautiful reminder that in a gravitational field, the most direct route is rarely the most efficient. This is the Calculus of Variations in its most visceral, satisfying form. Seeing the cycloid absolutely dust the straight line never gets old; it’s where mathematical optimization meets physical reality.show more

I had to spend my 35th birthday at home,... isolating with Covid, so I decided to spend the day planting 35 black poplar trees. Five’s years later & a dozen of these trees survived & they’re starting to get massive: outgrowing the local lampposts & almost ready to climb! As I turn 40 tomorrow, I decided to repeat the exercise, planting 40 trees (18 blank poplar & 22 willow). Digging into the wet, silty mud beside the river, it was hard work, but immensely satisfying to mark the passage of time & a big life transition by giving a gift to the river, and not just receiving.show more

I made the launch video for Cue Agents literally... 24 hours before it launched. All in Manus Studio. Got the brief at 9pm. Boss: "Need a launch video tomorrow. You've got 24 hours." Me: how am I supposed to pull this off?? A few hours of polishing in Manus later, it was done. I love how it turned out, especially the soundtrack and the little animations. Exactly the vibe. The hard part of a launch video isn't making a video. It's matching the brand tone and the brief. That takes a million small details. Manus Studio already had all that context: our meeting notes, Notion, Slack, Figma, repos, and everything it remembers about how I work. It pulled it together and helped me shape the idea, the storyboard and the final cut. It just passed 1.4M views. My second million-view video ever. AI didn't replace my creativity. It multiplied it. I've already started editing my vlogs in Manus too. So satisfying. Try video in Manus 2.0show more

Ok. I’m so excited to announce a bunch of... new things that I don’t even know where to start. Finally wrapped up a MAJOR update for EasyWaterscape! My biggest one ever, and the fruits of nearly 2 months of work so far. 1. HUGE performance gains. The per-frame cost is cut by about 67%, making EWS nearly 3x faster than before. 2. A revamped water mesh that runs better AND looks better. It’s optimized for TSR (far less ghosting/smearing), and gives you fine, granular control over the exact triangle density you need (or can afford) for your project. This makes EWS far more suitable for games than it was. 3. A brand new documentation site with info on all the new features, the changelog, the new benchmark results and more: 4. Improvements to Underwater (BETA), including water surface meniscus. I can't wait to spend more time on the underwater side, it's going to look fantastic when I'm done with it. (Edge blur & distortion aren't in yet, but they're coming.) Man. This has been so satisfying and a ton of fun. #DellTech #NVIDIA #DellProPrecision #unrealengine #gamedevshow more

i tried Framer Agent to build a brand guidelines... website template, something i've meant to do for a while. a site i can swap a logo, nudge a colour, update the type, and send a link instead of re-exporting a pdf nobody opens. a few observations on the AI process: - i started with references. pulled together a handful of minimalist grid layouts and had Claude describe the visual style back to me. you can do the same inside Framer, feeding it the references directly. - from there i had it write a detailed prompt aimed at that exact style, then asked it to break it into a few smaller steps. then i fed those into the agent, one at a time. - the scaffolding stage is the satisfying part. for something this grid-driven (the columns, the spans, the whole underlying structure) watching it land in seconds is hard to look away from. - but then i still have to sweat the details: text alignment, line-heights, image sizes. i don't mind it at all; it's the part i like, making these design decisions. the strength of the agent is the mundane work. point it at the stuff that eats your time: cleaning up the build, adding responsiveness, dropping in small effects, checking text and colour styles stay consistent, writing alt text for every image. then i get the time back for the parts of web design that are actually fun. 🤝show more

every time art and technology collide, it gets uncomfortable.... photography, cgi, nfts. now it’s ai. inevitably, the people who lean in early, long before it’s fully accepted, are the ones who end up shaping what comes next. doodles was born out of this exact contention. we aim to do it again. when we decided to build Doodles AI, we built it as a first-party tool. trained exclusively on ip we own, on a visual language i’ve spent my entire career formulating. the goal was speed, but even more so, relevance. the ability to participate in culture in real time. because that’s what true internet-native brands should all be striving for. we’ve been running it internally for a while now, and the impact is tangible: more viral posts, more growth, more attention. but it was too powerful, too satisfying, and too fun to not share it widely. a strong ip doesn’t weaken when you open it up. it gets rediscovered from angles you couldn’t have planned for, by people you never would’ve reached. creativity has always had gatekeepers. skill. time. access. often, it’s a game of privilege. plenty of people have taste and vision but just don’t have the tools to match it. i’m proud to contribute my life’s work to this new era of co-authorship, with a singular style as the galvanizer. the best way to predict the future is to invent today.show more

She turns liquid milk into ice cream rolls on... a freezing metal plate — and it makes her $7,000 a month, mostly from filming it. The whole thing is hypnotic and you can't skip it. She pours cream onto a plate so cold it smokes, chops in fruit with two spatulas, smears it into a thin sheet, waits for it to freeze, then scrapes it up into perfect little rolls. Liquid to solid to art, in ninety seconds, right in front of you. There's no version of this you scroll past — your brain has to see it become the thing. That's the trick most food content misses. A finished dessert is a photo. Her dessert is a transformation — and a transformation you're watching happen in real time is a completely different animal. The pour, the chop, the scrape, the roll: every few seconds something changes shape, and that constant motion is what pins people to the screen while a static "here's my product" clip dies instantly. The money's straightforward once it's viral. Her stall sells out because people watch the video and show up wanting the thing they saw made — zero ad spend, the clip IS the ad. Dessert brands and food-equipment companies pay her $2-4k a post to feature their stuff mid-process. And the raw views — often 5 to 10 million a clip — stack platform payouts on a phone she just leans against the counter. She edits none of it. Films every batch, hands the footage to AI, it grabs the most satisfying pour-to-roll sequence, cuts it to the beat, captions, schedules. Next customer's order is already being filmed. Here's what most people with a hands-on job never realize: nobody wants to see your finished work. They want to see it become finished. The messy middle — the part you think is boring because you do it every day — is the entire show. What's something you make or fix where the process looks way cooler than the result? Drop it below — I'm breaking the best ones down next.show more
