Around 8:50 a.m. Tuesday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office... responded to a crash involving a Jaguar that slammed into the rear of a school bus and became wedged underneath it. Authorities said there were no students on board at the time of the collision. The bus driver was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Video of the incident shows the Jaguar driver failing to slow down as the school bus approached a bus stop. The driver was cited for following too closely.show more

According to Lee County Schools, no students were on the bus at the time of the crash. The bus driver was sent to the hospital for dizziness. The Lee County Sheriff's Office reports there were only minor injuries. "This video is incredibly hard to watch, and I thank God no students were on the bus and no one was seriously injured," said Sheriff Carmine Marceno. Cycleway 4 has multiple floating bus stops. However since... the introduction of the cycleway, there has been a dramatic increase in usage, esp with children - cycling and scooting as well as less able. I can’t imagine pushing them back into the road to mix with vehicles.show more

What happens when an autonomous robotaxi gets into an... accident? So far, nothing. Yesterday, I rode in a Zoox robotaxi and got hit by an RTC bus in front of New York New York. The Zoox was trying to turn right into New York New York on Tropicana Avenue just after crossing Las Vegas Boulevard and the bus was trying to get over to make its stop. What I saw, was the RTC bus merging into the front left of the Zoox robotaxi and then a crunching sound followed by a grinding sound. Pretty sure it was the RTC bus at fault. Impact detected. The Zoox robotaxi stayed in place while a warning popped up on the user display. Zoox support came over the in-car speaker and asked if I was okay and then eventually had me exit the vehicle at the New York New York rideshare area. Then, it just took off. The RTC bus? It also took off. The driver never got out to check to see what happened. Loaded up some passengers and went about the day. Nobody stayed around to file a police report, so I did. The Nevada State Troopers are scratching their heads at what to do here and so am I. Now I have a lot of questions that won’t get answered probably. I am okay and not injured thankfully, just shaken up a bit. As far as riding Zoox again, I feel it is safe to ride and highly recommend trying it out if you haven’t. On a side note: The Zoox took the hit pretty well and I couldn’t see damage when I checked it out. The bus had a nice scrape on its right wheel fender. I will keep you all updated on this.show more

Seconds from Tragedy: KSRTC Swift Driver's Quick Reflexes Prevent... Fatal Highway Crash A potentially tragic accident was narrowly avoided on the Mysuru–Bengaluru Expressway, thanks to the quick thinking and presence of mind of a KSRTC Swift ( KL) bus driver. A KSRTC (KA) bus had reportedly broken down on the expressway, and its crew was in the process of changing a tyre on the roadside. At the same time, a lorry approaching the spot suddenly swerved to avoid the stationary bus and the crew working nearby. The unexpected movement caused one of the crew members to panic and run across the highway in an attempt to get to the other side. Unfortunately, he ran directly into the path of an oncoming KSRTC Swift bus. The Swift bus, driven by Nasif of Nilambur Depot, was carrying a full load of passengers when the incident unfolded. Reacting within seconds, the driver steered the bus towards the edge of the highway, narrowly avoiding the crew member and preventing what could have been a fatal collision. The Karnataka RTC crew member later described the incident as a miraculous escape and credited the bus driver's timely reaction for saving his life.
