SpaceX is telling you that Ship 41’s single-engine static... fire is a test for the deorbit burn. In fact, every time a Ship returns to Earth, it performs an engine deorbit burn before atmospheric reentry.😂😂😂show more

Uniswap moves to switch on fees for its newest... pools, and burn more UNI Uniswap Labs is pushing to turn on protocol fees for v4 pools across all 11 chains in its burn program. The temperature check is sailing through at ~93% support, with a binding on-chain vote due the week of July 13. Every fee collected forces an equal-value $UNI burn. The program already torched a record 186,000 UNI in a single day last month, and adding v4 widens the burn engine to its largest scope yet.show more

Starship Flight 13 goals: • Deploy 20 next-generation Starlink... V3 satellites for the first time • Test Starlink V3 solar arrays, antennas, and laser communications in space • Execute launch, ascent, stage separation, boostback burn, and offshore landing burn for Super Heavy • Test Super Heavy hardware and software upgrades to improve engine re-light reliability • Perform an in-space Raptor engine re-light • Demonstrate Starship propulsion system upgrades to improve engine reliability • Conduct a controlled reentry, descent, and splashdown in the Indian Ocean • Use six Starlink V3 satellites to image Starship’s heat shield during flight • Evaluate upgraded heat shield tiles, attachment methods, and load-sensing tiles for future reusabilityshow more

Lovable has a new creative engine. The first pieces... ship today. This is the single generation that cost me a night's sleep. Everything is made by it, including the images. Here's a breakdown of what it is, and what it isn't. 🧵show more

That 270° roll at the end is super sketchy.... Ship needs more work before it comes in for a tower catch. That being said - the fact that a Ship got this far on the debut flight of this version is spectacular.show more

Fake An Aurus parked front of a restaurant caught... fire in the engine compartment. It is a short model, not a limousine. There is no protection detail, hardly any police, the car goes on a normal tow truck. And people are allowed close to the car... Just an engine fire, nothing more. Starship came home almost 7 hours early. Now we... know why. In its Flight 14 recap, SpaceX finally explained it: one Raptor vacuum engine shut down early during the climb to orbit. 26 minutes to orbit. 26 satellites. 3 hours 9 minutes. What happened: • Starship lost one of its six engines on the way up • The other five burned longer to make up the lost thrust • The team checked the three sea level engines, found them healthy, and went for orbit • It reached orbit for the first time and deployed all 26 Starlink V3 satellites SpaceX's words: "Out of an abundance of caution given the engine issue experienced during ascent, the flight control team decided to limit the duration spent on orbit." Then it did its first ever deorbit burn and splashed down on target in the Pacific. The part most people missed: This was planned as a 10 hour, six orbit mission. Losing an engine and still making orbit is the real headline. Coming home early was a choice, not a failure. As a developer, this is the call I respect most: ship what you came for, and don't gamble the rest. The catch: SpaceX still hasn't said why the Raptor vacuum engine shut down. Getting to orbit is the hard part. Knowing when to come home is the smart part. Would you have kept flying for the full 10 hours?show more

I was watching Ship 41 come in on Flight... 14. In the last part of the belly flop, just before the flip and burn, it was dropping at about 100 metres a second. That’s roughly 360 km/h, still falling sideways. If that had been a crewed ship and the engines failed to relight, a belly landing in the ocean would not be survivable. 100% a splat factor. The whole landing depends on those Raptors lighting on time and flipping the ship upright. Sure, it can lose one engine. If none of them light, there is no backup. Just watch the altitude meter drop. There will be a lot of landings coming up. A crewed Starship landing anytime soon? I think not. 🚀show more
