Lemeki surprised us all, charging around from the minute she exited the rescue helicopter! Even the guineafowl couldn't escape her playful antics. I genuinely cannot understand how someone can watch this... story and still stand there, looking at two women, and somehow decide that the wrong one is the victim. On one side, you have a girl (Yıldız) who has been mistreated her entire life. Since the moment she was born, she was treated like a sacrifice for a conflict she was never even part of and later we find out that this conflict never even existed. Her right to study was taken from her. She was pushed into a marriage at a very young age just imagine being six, seven, eight years old, living in fear of being tied to someone you don’t even know. She was treated like a servant in her own home, by the very people she thought were her family. And just when she gets close to the happiness she dreamed of, the man she was engaged to shows up with another wife. She gets mistreated by that wife, by his family, and even (unintentionally) by him, because he was trying to run away from his own feelings, and that only caused her more heartbreak. The whole world was literally against her. She fought through all of that, only to find out in the end that everything she suffered for was based on something that wasn’t even real. Her entire life was built on a lie. That she isn’t even part of that family that she has literally no one in this world. Now on the other side… You have a girl (Melek) who, yes, was taken from her biological mother but she was raised by loving parents. She had everything anyone could wish for: education, freedom, a happy childhood, a healthy environment. She lived her life, fell in love, went out, made choices and no one questioned her, no one controlled her. And then what did she do? She found out that her man was engaged to another woman before marrying her (and even saw him marry her) and instead of holding on to her dignity, she chose to stay, to fight for a man who lied to her, to hold onto a marriage he tried to end multiple times. She used her unborn child to keep him tied to her. She lied constantly, and her excuse was that she was “protecting her marriage” a marriage that was already broken from the moment Serhat removed that ring at the airport in episode one. She tried to hand Yıldız (a woman who had already suffered enough) over to dangerous people. Then she found out the truth about her own birth (that her father ra*ped her mother.)And still no empathy. No moment of humanity toward her own mother. All she cared about was herself. And even though none of this had anything to do with Yıldız, she still found a way to blame it on her. Instead of holding her father accountable, she went and made a deal with him to get rid of Yıldız. She literally made a deal with the devil just to hurt Yıldız one more time. Peggy lived alone at the end of Hawthorn Lane,... and the only one who really kept an eye on her was a big black Doberman named Bear. People in the neighborhood used to cross the street when they saw him. He looked like the kind of dog you read about in the wrong kind of story, all muscle and sharp ears. But anybody who actually knew Peggy knew that Bear followed her around the house like a shadow and slept on the floor beside her bed every night. Peggy was 79 and stubborn about living on her own. Her son had been after her for a year to move somewhere with people around, and she kept telling him she was fine, that she had Bear and that was plenty. One morning in the kitchen, she reached up for a mug on the top shelf and her legs just went out from under her. She came down hard on the tile and couldn't get herself back up. Her phone was on the counter, way out of reach, and the house was dead quiet except for her own breathing. Bear was at her side before she even finished falling. He nosed at her face and pressed against her, and when she told him to go, he ran to the front window and started barking, the deep kind the whole street could hear. He wouldn't stop, going from the window to Peggy and back again, over and over, until a neighbor two doors down finally came out to see what all the noise was about. She found Peggy on the floor and Bear standing guard over her, and she had the ambulance there within minutes. Peggy came home a week later with a cracked hip and a new respect for that dog. For instance, Lima Lima is loving but quite laidback with her son, Lenny. She gives him (and herself!) a long leash. Zongoloni takes a very different approach. She is hawkishly protective of Zigi and he, in turn, is like her little shadow. We can understand why Zongoloni keeps her family close: Rescued in 2013, she stands out as one of our most heartbreaking orphan cases. Her mother was shot by poachers and then left to an agonising, drawn-out demise. Zongoloni was just a baby at the time, yet she stayed by her mother’s side until the very end. 🚨#BREAKING: A Minnesota mother, Bonnie Pierce, escaped her burning... house only to realize her toddler was still inside… ...and she ran BACK into the flames. Firefighters found her wrapped around her baby girl, shielding her with her own body. ❤️ Her daughter, SURVIVED, she saved her life. Her name is Bonnie Pierce, she was 38, a mom from St. Paul, Minnesota. On Saturday afternoon, a fire broke out in the duplex where she was home with two of her daughters. One of the girls, Aurora, did something incredible to save herself. She kicked an air conditioning unit clean out of a window and climbed through it to safety. And Bonnie made it out too. She was OUT. She was safe. But her other little girl, Grace, still just a toddler, was somewhere back inside that burning building. Her mother, Bonnie, didn't think twice. She turned around and ran back into the fire. When firefighters fought their way in, they found her. She had wrapped her own body around her daughter, shielding that little girl from the flames and the smoke with everything she had left. Protecting her baby to the very end. Bonnie was found unresponsive, she'd been without oxygen for nearly 15 minutes. She had burns over 48% of her body. First responders and doctors fought for her with everything they had. But on Monday, Bonnie passed away from her injuries. Little Grace, the daughter she shielded with her own body… SURVIVED. She's still in the hospital. But doctors say she is expected to make a FULL recovery. That is a mother's love. Her home is now covered in flowers and chalk writing from friends that say "HERO" everywhere. Even for Kipekee, this is next level! Our small,... spoiled girl crowns herself the princess of every corner she trundles into. Today, she decided to give herself a nice little throne atop Mzinga. Our nanny-with-a-heart-of-gold didn't even blink – she was just happy to have Kipekee time! Kipekee is the youngest in the Nairobi herd, which means she is rarely short of company. She arrived at our Nursery fragile, tiny and in need of round-the-clock care. In her voice notes she no longer sounds as if she is fighting for every breath. She feels every prayer and every kindness you have sent her way. I promise you, she has all of you to thank for that. The tragic: she received terrible news today and is carrying a deep personal loss. You will not see her here for a long while, if at all.
