He regretted it immediately and never signed anything again for the rest of his life... He was 24 years old. The year before, a French cardinal had paid him 450 gold ducats to sculpt a statue for his own tomb. The contract had one strange clause: it had to be "the most beautiful work of marble in Rome, one that no living artist could better." Michelangelo had never completed a major public commission. He accepted anyway... He carved for two years from a single block of Carrara marble that he later called the most perfect stone he ever worked. What he produced was the Pietà: the body of Christ, lifeless, across the lap of his mother. When it was unveiled, visitors refused to believe a 24-year-old Florentine had made it. They credited the work to a more famous Lombard sculptor. Everyone is talking about this video, but I think... this is two people trying to avoid each other and Conner just making a mistake at the shortstop position. The slide is clearly off the base and then he comes clearly off the base to meet the slide. I think he had it pre-decided in his mind that he was going to try to avoid a direct slide and they just ended up at the same place. Revisited this episode of Charlie with Tucker and clipped... something pretty interesting. Charlie was talking with Tucker about being a “slave to debt” and referenced Proverbs, but he gave the wrong chapter and verse. The Proverbs he appears to have meant was 22:7: “The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender.” Instead, Charlie cited Proverbs 7:22: “All at once he followed her like an ox going to the slaughter, like a deer stepping into a noose” Maybe Charlie simply had a lapse and misspoke. That’s certainly possible. But considering how deeply familiar he was with the Bible, and his reputation for having a photographic memory, it’s a pretty strange mistake to make, especially when the verse he said is completely unrelated to the point he was making. I’m not claiming to know whether it was intentional. I just find the discrepancy interesting enough to point out.show more

In the last game against HK Mogo, one of... the opponents called me 'Chi*k' and said, 'fu*k you, Chinese monkey.' Whether he understood the meaning of the term or not, this was clearly a racist act targeting me and the Asian community. After the game, I even attempted to shake his hand and asked, 'Did you mean it, or was it an accident?' However, he refused to shake my hand and walked away without acknowledging me, even though he shook hands with everyone else. At the time of the incident, a linesman was positioned between us, and I believe he heard the derogatory comments. He may not have comprehended the meaning, but he certainly heard them. Ice hockey is a sport where over 90% of participants are of Caucasian descent. However, discrimination should never be tolerated under any circumstances.
