I travelled by train for 4 years during my... engineering days. The journey was from Vijayawada to Allahabad, and the train continued into Bihar. It was nasty once you cross Itarsi. Same train in south India was different vs. once it enters north. Crowded, uncivilised and dangerous. Those 4 years killed my appetite for train travel in India.
