Tariffs are essentially a tax on imported goods, and when these tariffs were applied to Chinese products, the increased costs were often passed on to American consumers in the form of higher prices. Additionally Trump's tariffs on China had significant negative impacts on American farmers. China's retaliation led to a sharp decline in demand for American farm products from Chinese buyers, which in turn caused a drop in prices and substantial financial losses for American farmers. In 2024, Russia faced a 13-year record jump in... gas prices after a series of Ukrainian drone attacks on refineries that caused fuel production to collapse by more than 10% in the first half of the year. According to Rosstat, from the beginning of the year to December 23, gasoline prices rose by 11% on average in Russia. At the same time, prices in remote regions of the Far East exceeded the Russian average by a quarter. By the end of the year, gasoline price growth will be the strongest since 2011. For the first time in 6 years, gasoline prices have risen significantly above the headline inflation rate, which the Russian ministry of economic development estimates at 9.7% a week before the end of the year.
