United Utilities has turned on jacuzzi mode for Easter... Sunday in the #lakedistrict ! The EA is permitting up to 1.1 million litres a day and up to 13 litres a second to come out of this pipe. Langdale WWTW, where the pipe originates, has no UV disinfectant, so this likely contains a whole host of bacteria, viruses, parasites, etc., that you don’t want to be ingesting if you’re swimming in the river. Sewage discharging in #LakeDistrict river. United Utilities doing what... they do best. Video taken at 10am this morning on the river Brathay. The Environment Agency is permitting up to 1.1 million litres a day of sewage to come out of this pipe. This is making its way into Englands largest lake in a UNESCO world heritage site and National Park. ⚠️ WARNING: Not one to watch while eating. ⚠️... This is what treated sewage looks like when it’s discharged in the Lake District. You’re looking at the sewage pipe from Langdale Wastewater Treatment Works, where it enters the River Brathay. This site is allowed to discharge up to 1.1 million litres a day of this ‘treated’ sewage. I know I wouldn’t want to swallow this while out for a swim — would you? This was filmed today at around 17:25. Happy Easter from United Utilities.show more

The Environment Agency crisis comms swings into action ahead... of the first episode of ‘Dirty Business’ tonight with the usual mix of gaslighting, cover up and half truths. They say they “act on breaches of environmental law”, but on my river, the Roding, there are dozens of illegal outfalls, spewing over a billion litres of raw sewage into the river every year and the Environment Agency has not brought a single prosecution this century. Not one! The evidence is not hard to find- many of these outfalls have been reported by the public for decades and run through parks & major population centres. There seems to be actual policy in place to just ignore rampant criminality, although we cannot say if this policy springs from inertia, incompetence, corruption or a mixture of all three. So that the EA cannot say I’m making this up, I’m going to post pictures, locations and data measurements from illegal outfalls on the Roding. First up is the Cran Brook. Running 24 hours a day, 365 days a year at least 25 litres a second and ammonia concentrations of 5-7 PPM, this river is arguably the most polluted river in London, spewing 750 million litres of sewage & landfill leachate directly into the Roding, here:show more

If you’re eating your breakfast, look away This site... has been a major focus of our campaign to end sewage pollution in Windermere. Because of our sustained pressure: - The EA is reviewing a permit that has remained unchanged since 1989 - Tankering at the site has increased by 171% - The EA is now attending regularly to check compliance, after almost a decade of absence - The water company is now investing to improve discharge standards, after we highlighted that the treatment process was identical to what was in place in 1978 But this still does not protect England’s largest lake. The only way to save Windermere is to stop the sewage once and for all. Final video filmed on 15 February 2023.show more

While I was striking in Windermere yesterday, demanding an... end to sewage pollution, guess what was happening in Ambleside? Ambleside wastewater treatment works was discharging untreated sewage into the River Rothay. This goes into Englands largest lake which sits within a national park and UNESCO world heritage site. This cloudy concoction is full of everything from bacteria, viruses, parasites, to phosphorus. The water industry insists this is 95% freshwater, which, as you can see, is clearly not true. How much was released from this spill? We don’t know, as United Utilities does not collect volumetric data. We need an end to all treated and untreated sewage discharged into Windermere. Hi Environment Agency, I planned to go swimming in... my river (River Roding) and checked the water quality and it’s full of sewage (often 5-7 ppm ammonia near outfalls) due to illegal outfalls putting over a billion litres of raw sewage into the river every year. The EA has not prosecuted a single one of these illegal spills or even asked Thames Water to fix them. What should I do now?show more

Today is the birthday of the great Malcolm X.... His message is still relevant today because we still live under the same capitalist system that has to change for things to get better. “You’re living at a time of revolution. A time where there’s got to be a change. People in power have misused it. And now there has to be a change and a better world has to be built. I will join with anyone, I don’t care what color you are, as long as you want to change this miserable condition that exists on this earth.”show more

Did you know Toronto Pearson has an extensive stormwater... system made up of both underground and aboveground infrastructure that can process tens of millions of litres of water? Across the airport, four stormwater facilities, together holding the equivalent of 67 Olympic-sized swimming pools, work alongside a network of retention ponds. This system helps manage rainfall, reduce flood risk and prevent contaminants from entering nearby creeks. • Moores Creek Facility: 42 million litres of underground storage, plus another 42 million litres above ground. • Carlingview Stormwater Facility: 17 million litres of underground storage. • Aeroquay Facility: 6.6 million litres underground. • Etobicoke Creek Facility: an above-ground engineered wetland with capacity for 57.8 million litres. Together, these facilities collect and treat stormwater so it meets environmental standards before being released back into the natural system. Here's a look at the underground portion of Moores Creek:show more

Illegal sewage outfalls are a major issue on the... River Roding, as they are around much of the country. The EA has not brought any prosecutions for illegal sewage discharges on the Roding this century. In 2022, I discovered an illegal sewage outfall on the Aldersbrook discharging raw shit into the river. I reported it to the EA, who did absolutely nothing. I then had to campaign in my spare time for 3 years to get the outfall fixed, attending meetings with the council & Thames Water & dealing with journalists. Eventually, the campaign worked & Thames Water spent £1 million fixing the outfall. Subsequently, I realised that the EA had no idea where all the illegal sewage outfalls on the river were, or which were most harmful. I therefore went out on the river myself with a bucket, in a pair of waders to find & analyse all the illegal outfalls on the river. I found dozens of them, spilling over a billion litres of raw sewage illegally into the river every year. I have given the exact locations of all the illegal outfalls to the EA & they’ve done sweet FA. Raw sewage continues to pour into the river illegally & unchecked every minute of every day of the year, & parts of the river are now ecologically dead, as well as having e-coli levels more than 250 times the safe limit.show more

StablecoinX Inc. StablecoinX has announced an additional $530 million... capital raise as part of its $ENA accumulation strategy. To date, StablecoinX has raised a total of approximately $895M in PIPE financing, which is expected to result in a vehicle with over 3 billion ENA tokens on its balance sheet at closing. This enhanced scale enables greater access to additional institutional channels, broader investor and third-party coverage, and the capacity to hire top tier leadership. As with the initial PIPE raise, the cash raised via the PIPE will be used by StablecoinX to acquire tokens from a subsidiary of the Ethena Foundation. The Ethena Foundation subsidiary will initiate an approximately $310 million buyback program over the next 6-8 weeks via third party market makers, reinforcing the alignment between the Foundation and StablecoinX shareholders. The expected deployment rate of purchases is outlined in the section below this tweet, and is incremental to the buyback program from the initial PIPE financing transaction which has now been completed. At current prices, the planned buyback program of this second PIPE transaction combined with the liquid ENA contributed to the PIPE by third party investors represents roughly 13% of circulating supply. This is in addition to the initial PIPE financing which resulted in the acquisition of approximately 7.3% of circulating token supply over the last 6 weeks. Importantly, as with the initial PIPE raise, the Ethena Foundation has the right to veto any sales of $ENA by StableCoinX at its sole discretion. Once again, to the extent StablecoinX subsequently raises capital with the intent of purchasing additional locked ENA from the Ethena Foundation or its affiliates, cash proceeds from those token sales are planned to be used to purchase spot $ENA. StablecoinX's treasury strategy is a deliberate, multi‑year capital allocation strategy that will enables StablecoinX to capture the enormous value of the secular surge in demand for digital dollars while compounding ENA per share to the benefit of shareholders.show more
