From Great Wall Gardens Residents Athi River Great Wall... Gardens Management Office Great Wall Gardens Cc: Ederman (Developer) Dear Management Team. Subject: Urgent Meeting Request Regarding Water Issues We hope this message finds you well. As residents of Great Wall Gardens, we are writing to request your presence at an urgent meeting scheduled for Saturday, 18th May 2024, starting at 9 AM. Thismeeting will take place outside the management offices. The primary aim of this gathering is to address the numerous and ongoing issues related to our water supply that have significantly impacted our daily lives and well-being. The following critical points need to be discussed:Water Unavailability: Residents have experienced frequent and prolonged periods without water, severely disrupting our daily activities; 1. Low Water Pressure: When water is available, the pressure is often so low that it becomes unusable for household needs. 2. Misleading Information from Management: We have encountered numerous instances of false or misleading information regarding the water supply situation. 3. High Water Bills: Despite the poor service, residents have been receiving exorbitantly high water bills, which are unjustifiable. 4. Dirty Water: The quality of water provided is frequently substandard, with residents reporting dirty and unclean water. 5. Consistent Same Figure Bills: There is an unusual consistency in the billing amounts, raising concerns about their accuracy and fairness. 6. Estimated/Cooked Water Bills: Many residents believe that the bills are not based on actual consumption but are arbitrarily estimated or manipulated. 7. Smelly Water: The water often has an unpleasant odor, making it unfit for use. Faulty Meters: There are widespread issues with faulty meters, leading to false readings that do not match actual household consumption. 8. Lack of Communication & Water Rationing Schedule: There is a significant lack of communication from management regarding water rationing schedules, leaving residents unprepared for water outages. These issues have caused immense frustration, inconvenience, and distress among the residents. We believe it is essential to address these concerns urgently and collaboratively to find sustainable solutions. We earnestly request your attendance at this meeting to engage in a constructive dialogue and work towards resolving these critical issues. Your presence and cooperation will demonstrate a commitment to transparency and accountability, which are vital for rebuilding trust with the residents. Thank you for your attention to this matter. We look forward to your positive response and meaningful participation on Saturday. Yours sincerely, Concerned Great Wall Gardens Residents.show more

We are extremely proud of this achievement that we... have accomplished together. We truly risked our lives to reach this place, as it is located very close to military deployment areas, and the road was extremely dangerous at every moment. We have now started our new project to provide clean drinking water, and this truck is heading to one of the most dangerous and heavily affected areas. The work is exhausting and extremely tiring, but the need for clean water cannot wait. Displaced families are facing a severe shortage of safe drinking water, and more people are relying on this support every day. Today, we are launching water truck number 11 as part of this project, continuing despite all challenges and risks. Please share this post and follow our organization’s account to support the continuation of this life-saving work.show more

#Pune: Kalpataru Exquisite Society Residents In Wakad Without Water... Supply For Over 48 Hours; Lifts Not Functional Too Reported by Varad Bhatkhande Pune, 27th July 2024: The severe rainfall on 24th and 25th July caused widespread disruption in Pune and the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) area. Both cities faced severe flooding due to inadequate drainage systems, elevated water discharge from the dams, and rising water levels in the Mutha, Mula, and Pavana Rivers. Low-lying areas were particularly affected, with many residential societies reporting severe waterlogging in their underground basements. Residents of the Kalpataru Exquisite Society in Kaspate Wasti, Wakad, are still grappling with the flood situation two days after the rain. Frustration is growing as the newly built society faces issues such as a lack of parking, electricity, and operational lifts, along with an increase in mosquitoes. Residents have expressed frustration over the lack of drinking water, functional toilets, and operational lifts. With basements filled with knee-deep water, daily tasks are becoming increasingly difficult, especially for senior citizens and those with medical emergencies, as access to higher floors is challenging. Dattatraya Deshmukh, President of the Pimpri Chinchwad Cooperative Housing Societies Federation, told Punekar News, "There are drainage problems. Other societies in our area, particularly those close to the Mula River in Wakad, have faced similar issues. However, the problems in those societies were resolved the same day or the next, but this particular society's issues persist." Chandrakant Indalkar, Additional Commissioner of PCMC and head of the Disaster Management Department told Punekar News, "The ward officials have been informed about the situation. The problem has been exacerbated due to the society's proximity to the river. We are currently taking all necessary measures to address this issue." Abhishek Gupta, a resident of Sierra Tower in Kalpataru Exquisite Society, said, "For the past two days, there has been no water in our society. The lifts were closed, but now a lift has temporarily started operating. However, the situation remains dire. Water was removed earlier using pipes, which has been a great relief for me and the more than 1,000 residents living here." In response to the situation, Rahul Kalate, former corporator of the area, has pledged to offer all possible support to the residents.show more

The planet is giving warning signs about global warming,... something that scientists have been underlining for decades. Thousands of fish died at Quintana Beach, Texas, due to the lack of oxygen caused by high water temperatures. Warmer waters hold less oxygen, which can lead to hypoxia and the death of fish. These events, which seem to be more frequent and severe, coincide with the predictions of a 2019 UN report that warned about the possible formation of "dead zones" in the sea due to the rise in surface water temperatures. #ClimateActionNowshow more

The whispers are gone. Climate change is here, and... the water is at our doors. From Mumbai to Miami, from Dubai to Dublin, from Argentina to Australia, Toronto to Texas, cities around the world are facing a new reality – a reality of ferocious flash floods and towering tsunamis. The science is clear. Our planet is warming, causing erratic weather patterns and rising sea levels. This translates to heavier rainfall, more powerful storms, and a growing threat to coastal communities. We've seen it recently, haven't we?! The heart-wrenching images of entire neighborhoods underwater, the desperate struggle for survival against the unforgiving current. Closer to home, here in Lagos, we stand at a crossroad. We are a vibrant city, a center of commerce and culture. But we are also vulnerable. The rising sea level threatens our very foundation. Now is the time to act. We need robust flood defenses, and a collective commitment to sustainable environmental practices. We must protect our infrastructure, our homes, and most importantly, our people. Global warming is real. Ensure you keep your environment clean at all times and do not engage in any activity that can hinder the free flow of water. #CleanerLagos #HealthierLagos #AGreaterLagosRising The Lagos State Govt Babajide Sanwo-Olushow more

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and the Florida Forest Service (FFS)... continue working to contain two grass fires in West Miami-Dade. According to FFS, the Quarry 2 Fire has burned approximately 17,600 acres and is 97% contained, while the Well Fire has burned approximately 1,425 acres and is 60% contained. #MDFR crews remain in remote areas of western Miami-Dade, monitoring fire activity and supporting ongoing containment efforts. Changing weather and wind conditions may cause smoke to travel well beyond the fire area. Residents and visitors may see or smell smoke in communities throughout Miami-Dade County. Seeing or smelling smoke does not necessarily mean there is a fire nearby. Only call 9-1-1 for emergencies. This helps keep emergency resources available for these grass fires and other emergencies throughout our community. If smoke impacts your area, limit time spent outdoors, keep doors and windows closed, and set air conditioning systems to recirculate. Drivers may encounter smoky or hazy conditions on roadways near the fire. If visibility is reduced, slow down, increase your following distance, and use low-beam headlights. Temporary road closures or detours may be implemented as conditions change to help protect the public and emergency personnel. For the latest info on road closures, visitshow more
