The project was supervised by the Qin kingdom (before it became the Qin dynasty, the dynasty that first united the whole of China) and was about dividing the Mingjiang river in two and createb a new river to irrigate the Chengdu plain for agricultural purposes. The project encompasses a total area of 870 hectares and is expected to irrigate approximately 17,000 hectares of land.
