One last thing I would like to say is... about the Grand Sports Day. Charlotte seemed quite down from the beginning. Granted, maybe she was tired, but her usual spark just wasn’t there, and I assume it had to do with that person. Nevertheless, she did what was asked of her and didn’t let it show on camera or when interacting with her fans, because she is a professional. Her mood gradually improved as her friends kept lifting her spirits, especially when she interacted with that kid. You could clearly see she was happier again and kept fighting through, because that is how real and grateful she is for her fans, friends, and all she has right now. Yesterday, someone should have said something right there and then, because what he said was completely untrue. She was the one who collected the balls to help the staff. She came to help us get some air after one of the games by using the fan, because that is who she is. A considerate, kind, professional person who always thinks about others first and tries to fight her demons alone because she would not want to bother anyone with it. People are trying to make sense of why Reform... have put forward Laila Cunningham as their candidate for Mayor of London. Is she a real Muslim? Is Reform containment? The simplest answer is that Cunningham is only interested in politics as a path for self-promotion. She's a grifter. She saw Reform are likely to form the next government, rote-learned the slick "British values" talking points to get ahead in a party desperate to not be called racist, and was pushed as the progressive-proof face of the party. Everything she does is to increase her personal advantage. She made headlines with her "supermum" citizens arrest stunt. She was in favour of hate crime legislation when it benefitted her. She wrote Woke poetry about how London's diversity was its strength — words which could have come straight from the mouth of Sadiq Khan. Then she jumped aboard the Conservatives when they were in power. She took selfies with everyone she could, because it was more important to be seen at functions than to be actually doing anything. She went to Pride and hosted the first Iftar event as a Councillor for Westminster North. The contradictions don't matter. She doesn't believe anything consistent. These are just the rituals of being a part of liberal political circles. The passwords you have to speak to be part of the club. It gatekeeps in favour of shameless grifters. She only pulled out of being the Conservative Parliamentary candidate for Rotherham right before the 2024 election. What connection does she have to Rotherham? None, since she loves London so much that she's always lived there and wants to be Mayor. She just took the seat as a nonwhite Muslim woman, until she realised she couldn't win and it would damage her future prospects. We shouldn’t trust Cunningham. Not just because she's a Muslim, and both the British right and public at large don't like Islam. We shouldn’t trust her because her entire political career appears to be about making her famous. She wants to be in power and on camera for the sake of it. She isn't really all that interested in philosophy or policy. Otherwise, she wouldn't be reciting insults like "far right" or pushing the incoherent platitudes of "British values", because neither stand up to scrutiny. It's a grift. Saturday is my mom’s funeral. I want to tell... a story about her. When we were kids growing up in NYC, we were taught to love the NYPD and FDNY. Especially after 9/11. Every year she’d take us to run Tunnel to Towers Foundation, where you run from Brooklyn through the tunnel to the World Trade Center just like FDNY hero Stephen Siller did on September 11. She’d stop to shake every cop’s hand she could. Three years ago she was diagnosed with brain cancer. The disease and the surgery shut down her body, making it hard for her to do anything. But she wanted to run the race, and I wasn’t going to tell her she shouldn’t. So we drove up to New York from DC to run it, and of course it’s pouring rain for the race. And even though she could barely walk, she ran. I took this video of her running across the finish line. Her whole right side was shut down, and it hurt like hell, but she ran. So we just signed up to run it again this year in her honor, and are raising money for Tunnel to Towers Foundation in her name as Team Melanie Cash. There’s no organization she’d rather support. When the host handed her the pen for the camera marker, she received it with both hands and gently thanked to the host. The pen cap fell off, but before she could pick it up, she was called to begin filming. After finishing the camera marker video, she quietly ran back, picked up the pen cap, closed it properly, and returned to sit beside the host . Such a small moment — but it speaks volumes about her character. When I walked over, she was chatting with a fan on the other side. I was so nervous to finally see her that I called her name a few times, and she immediately turned to greet me with the warmest smile. After the photo session, she waved goodbye to our group and gently patted my shoulder. I could feel that she was truly sorry for not having more time to spend with us before the shoot. Even though there were many people around, Nong Orm gave her all during the 1v20 photoshoot. She made the effort to greet every single fan and did her best to fulfill everyone’s photo and “hi-bye” moments, especially when she saw fans holding rice cards. She had taken off her contact lenses, and since she’s very nearsighted, she kept squinting and trying to see what fans were holding in their hands — not just once, but several times. That effort alone was so heartwarming. She respects every staff member and treats each fan who shows up with sincerity and warmth. When the host asked if she had anything to say to everyone, she especially thanked those supporting her online. She understands that many fans can’t attend in person for various reasons, and she also appreciates those who work hard to support her both online and offline.
