China responds to EU sanctions with export restrictions The... European Union officially announced its 21st sanctions package against Russia on July 23, adding 14 companies from China and Hong Kong to its sanctions list. In response, China decided to place 14 EU organizations under export control measures, citing the protection of national security and interests, compliance with international non-proliferation obligations, and a response to what it called unfriendly actions by the EU. Under China’s Export Control Law and regulations on dual-use items, Chinese exporters are prohibited from supplying dual-use goods to the listed organizations. Foreign entities and individuals are also banned from transferring or providing these China-origin dual-use items to the targeted organizations. Any ongoing related transactions must be stopped immediately. In exceptional cases where exports are necessary, companies must apply for special approval from China’s Ministry of Commerce. The organizations affected include companies and institutions from Italy, Germany, France, Poland, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Belgium, and Latvia.show more
