Trump made a new statement today on the 2022... Battle of Kyiv: “They got stuck in the swamp, almost like in quicksand. It was mud, like quicksand. They could not move. If that general had just gone straight on the concrete highway, that speaks volumes. That is why war is always associated with risk. If he had just moved straight on the highway to the city, they would have been in Kyiv in four hours and Ukraine would have been able to do nothing. This war would have ended in 1 day. This was 4.5 years ago. It was a huge mistake. The general decided to go through the field instead of the road and highway”show more

Oscar, a 12-year-old mixed-breed dog, was adopted from a... shelter two years ago; given his age and physical limitations, it was thought he was nearing the end of his life. However, thanks to the love and care he received, Oscar has been reborn, showing a renewed zest for life, playing with toys ( like in clip ), "stealthily" swiping food, and running around the garden (albeit at a leisurely pace). He has become a puppy again, proving that love makes a difference, that age is often just a number for dogs, and that the will to live can be an incredible force in them, just as it is in us.show more

It would have been a nice gesture if, for... America’s 250th, San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria had flown the American flag in Balboa Park instead of the Progress Pride flag. This was posted four days ago, after Pride Month had ended. America’s 250th should be about the one flag that represents every American. That would have been a powerful symbol of unity.show more

Cancer Diagnosis. When I was diagnosed with cancer 22... years ago, the first doctor I saw told me there was nothing wrong with me. It was only when I got a second opinion that the cancer was found. In Ashfield, there are around 540 new cancer cases every year. Yet only around 55% of cancers in Ashfield are diagnosed in the early stages. So if in doubt, get checked out, and get a second opinion. It was great to catchup with Cancer Research UK yesterday and see the work they have been doing recently.show more

She's been at our shelter since 2013. Eleven years.... Every person who met her said she was wonderful. Every person walked past her kennel and chose a younger dog. She stopped coming to the front of her kennel a few years ago. Stopped performing. Made a quiet peace with being where she was." Last Tuesday a veteran came in. He said — "I need a calm dog. I'm still learning how to be still myself." I showed him three dogs. He was putting his jacket on to leave. He stopped outside kennel seven. Luna looked at him from her bed. Didn't perform. Didn't come to the front. Just looked at him the way she looks at people when she decides they're worth seeing. He said — "Can I sit with her?" He sat on the concrete floor at her level. Not the bench. The floor. That was 11am. At 3pm I looked in. He was still there. Her white muzzle was in his hand. Their breathing had synchronized. At 3:15 he came to the front desk and said — "I'd like to take her home. I think we need each other." I excused myself to the back room and sat on an overturned bucket and cried for a long time. He texted me yesterday — "First time I've slept through the night in three years. I think she was saving that for me." She was. Eleven years of saving it. For one Tuesday. For him. Drop a ❤️ for Luna. Share this for every senior dog still waiting for their Tuesday. They're saving everything they have for the right person to walk through that door.show more

Former Cincinnati Bengals QB Ken Anderson retired as the... highest rated passer in the history of the AFC. He was the highest rated passer in NFL post-merger playoff history at 93.5. He produced the highest rated passing performance in the history of Conference Championship games (115.9 vs. San Diego in the Freezer Bowl at -59 degrees wind chill, breaking Roger Staubach’s record of 112.2) and the highest rated performance in Super Bowl history for anyone with more than 30 attempts (95.2). He set the mark for the highest cmp-percentage in Super Bowl history at 73.5%. His single-season cmp-percentage record of 70.6% stood for 27-years before Drew Brees broke it by less than 0.1% in 2009. His single-game cmp-percentage record of 90.9% (20 of 22) was set vs. the Steel Curtain’s No. 1 ranked defense in 1974. They held all other opponents that season to 127 of 317 (40.06%). His era-adjusted Rate+ career mark of 114 places him right in between Tom Brady (115) and Patrick Mahomes (113). He produced 8 winning seasons—only 3 of which were backed by a Top-10 defense. Anderson is not a borderline/fringe candidate. He is one of the most dominant players in NFL history. #Bengals | #WhoDeyshow more

They found him where the fighting had been the... worst. Alone. Rifle empty. Magazines spent. And 23 enemy soldiers lying around his position. Private First Class Gary Martini was just 19 years old in April 1967 when his unit was ambushed in Vietnam. The jungle erupted with gunfire. Grenades exp|*ded. The line began to buckle under heavy attack. Martini did not pull back. He stayed where he was and returned fire. Wave after wave came at his position. He fired until his magazines were empty. Then he reloaded. Then fired again. The enemy tried to break through his sector. He would not let them. Somewhere in that storm of bullets and smoke, he was fatally w*unded. When the battle ended and his fellow soldiers moved through the wreckage, they found him still at his post. Around him lay 23 enemy bodies. He had held the line almost single handedly. He was 19. Nineteen. Most teenagers worry about school, about the future, about small things. Gary Martini faced d**th and refused to give ground. His stand bought time for his unit. Time to regroup. Time to survive. For his actions, he was awarded the Medal of Honor. looked like. A young soldier, alone in a jungle clearing, fighting until there was nothing left to fire. He did not run. He did not surrender. He fought until the end. Back home, his name faded with the years. The war became a chapter in a textbook. The faces became numbers. But once, in a violent clearing in Vietnam, a 19 year old stood his ground against overwhelming odds. 🫡🙏show more

A 22-year-old woman, an IIT graduate and the daughter... of a senior bureaucrat, was found dead at her home in southeast Delhi's East of Kailash area. Police said she was raped before being strangled to death with a phone charger. She was alone at home at the time of the incident. There were no signs of forced entry. Police have arrested a 19-year-old domestic help, Rahul, who had worked at the house and was dismissed over a month ago. "Investigations revealed that he used to play online games and would borrow money from other servants in the vicinity, or from domestic staff working in nearby households, without ever repaying them. This is why he was fired," Joint Commissioner of Police Vijay Kumar said. He was arrested from a hotel in the Dwarka area, where he had been hiding. He is being charged with rape, murder and robbery, police said. Rahul was seen in CCTV footage leaving the victim's residence at 6:28 am, police said. According to police, the woman was found by her family members inside the house under suspicious circumstances, after which the authorities were alerted. The victim had completed her schooling at DPS RK Puram and later graduated from IIT Delhi. She was preparing for the UPSC examination. She was also a dancer and had won several awards in dance competitions. Her elder brother holds a senior position in a multinational company, and her mother is a doctor. When police reached Rahul's residence in Alwar, they found that he had previously been involved in a sexual harassment case. Police said the accused arrived in Delhi from Alwar the previous night and is suspected to have entered the house using a spare key. Police said Rahul had been hired with a reference from a superintendent posted at the IRS officer's office.show more

Tragic clip shows NASCAR driver Kyle Busch less than... one week before he tragically passed away on May 21. Busch was thought to have had a sinus cold while racing at Watkins Glen on May 10. Despite this, he won the Trucks Series race at Dover on May 15, then finished 17th in the All-Star race on Sunday. Nobody knew how serious it was becoming. On Wednesday May 20, an unidentified male at the scene called 911 saying Busch was suffering shortness of breath, felt very hot, thought he was going to pass out, and was coughing up blood. He had become unresponsive while testing in the Chevrolet racing simulator in Concord, North Carolina, and was transported to a hospital in Charlotte. The family confirmed he passed on Thursday May 21. On Saturday May 23 they revealed the cause, severe pneumonia had progressed into sepsis, resulting in rapid and overwhelming complications. He was only 41 years old. Kyle Busch holds the all-time wins record across NASCAR's top three series, with 233 combined victories. He won two Cup Series championships, in 2015 and 2019, both with Joe Gibbs Racing. His 2015 title is one of the most remarkable comeback stories in NASCAR history. He missed the first 11 races of the season after suffering a broken right leg and broken left foot at Daytona. He returned with 15 races left, clawed into the top 30 in points, won a race to make the playoffs, and won the championship.show more

Something really cool happened in swimming this week. After... 16 years, the 50m free world record got broken by Australian swimmer McEvoy. What’s very interesting is the approach he has been following for a few years now. Super low volume (2-3 sessions per week, less than 1000m per sessions which some swimmers do more than just for warm up) in a pool with cameras and other devices to track different values and of course getting stronger with weights.show more

Naoya Inoue Was This Close To Touching The Canvas‼️... If Tapales would have landed one more hard punch in that sequence, Inoue would have likely went down..Not saying he wouldn’t have gotten up but after that punch landed he had no idea where he was…😵💫 Credit to Tapales for capitalizing on Inoue’s “bad foot positioning” in that moment…If he’d followed it up with a straight left down the middle who knows what the outcome would have been..😬 #Boxingshow more

First impressions of Lima Peru If there weren’t Peruvians... walking around you would think you’re in a major city in the US Malecon reminds me slightly of NorCal with the oceanside and cliffs Streets are clean, don’t see much homeless or beggars at all Lots of American fast food restaurants and American brands in Nutrition shops As any big city in SA you have your honking & buses Many apartments here don’t have AC, so just make sure you do your DD if or you’re stuck with fans Seems to be an artistic vibe here walking through the different neighborhoods in miraflores, I like when places have different types of character. It’s what lacks in many large US cities Sounds like Lima hits alot of boxes for people if only the weather was better all year round Either way, so far so goodshow more

This video of Snoop Dogg is going viral after... he told viewers not to vote for Donald Trump, in an expletive-laden statement. A few things I need to point out: 1) Even though this video is suddenly trending this morning on multiple social platforms, it is OLD. In fact this video was created over 4 years ago in 2019 amidst a partial government shutdown as Trump was president. Snoop was talking about re-electing him in 2020, not 2024. 2) He has every right to express his opinion here, just like you have every right to push back. I would have avoided the expletives, but in general I still agree with him that Trump in 2020 or 2024 would be a disaster. Why would be elect the man who added more to our national debt in 4 years than any president in history, if we are all so worried about our national debt & inflation?show more
