Another milestone in indigenous Shipbuilding! Yard 3037, being constructed under Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessel (NGOPV) project, was launched at GRSE - Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd , Kolkata on #11Aug 2026 by Mrs Manika Sadhu in the presence of VAdm Sanjay Sadhu, Controller of Warship Production & Acquisition. The construction of NGOPVs is concurrently being undertaken at two shipyards (Goa Shipyard Ltd & #GRSE). These indigenously built ships will be utilised for multi domain operations, such as maritime surveillance, search & rescue, protection of offshore assets and anti-piracy missions. NGOPVs derive their names from India’s rich heritage, with this ship being named as ‘Shruti’, referring to four Vedas. This milestone underscores the #IndianNavy’s continued focus on indigenisation and aligns with the Government’s flagship initiatives of #AatmanirbharBharat and Make in India, further strengthening the nation’s strategic and industrial capabilities.
