SIGN DEAL ON 1.5MTPA FLOATING LNG PROJECT In a major step towards bolstering Nigeria's energy security and promoting the utilization of its abundant gas resources, the NNPC Ltd. and UTM Offshore Limited have today in Abuja signed a Heads of Terms (HoT) agreement for the construction of the nation's first indigenous Floating LNG project. Describing the Floating LNG project as a "must-do" initiative for Nigeria, the NNPC Ltd. GCEO, Mele Kyari, OFR, OFR, expressed the company’s readiness to secure gas feedstock towards the project. Also speaking at the occasion, the Group Managing Director, UTM Offshore Ltd., Julius Rone, expressed his delight at the partnership with NNPC Ltd., stating that this milestone achievement showcased the capability of indigenous companies to collaborate with world-class energy conglomerates to drive growth in Nigeria's energy sector. He further explained that apart from significantly cutting down on gas flaring and supporting the country's commitment to reducing carbon emissions, the project would also create over 7,000 job opportunities, contributing to the nation's economic growth and development. The commissioning ceremony of the second Pakistan Navy MILGEM class ship, PNS KHAIBAR, was held at Istanbul Naval Shipyard in Türkiye. The President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, attended the ceremony as Chief Guest, while Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf was also present. In his address, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan described Pakistan–Türkiye relations as a model of brotherhood and emphasized the importance of further strengthening cooperation in defence production in the future. Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, in his remarks, acknowledged the dedication and professionalism of M/s ASFAT, Istanbul Naval Shipyard, and the original equipment manufacturers involved in the planning, design, and construction of the PN MILGEM ships. He appreciated the growing defence partnership between Pakistan and Türkiye, noting that close engagement between Pakistan Navy and Turkish Naval Forces continues to reinforce bilateral defence collaboration and reflects the depth of the enduring partnership between the two countries. After the ceremony, the Turkish President visited PNS KHAIBAR, where he was presented a Guard of Honour and interacted with the ship’s crew. During the visit, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Admiral Naveed Ashraf exchanged views on regional maritime security and discussed prospects for future joint initiatives between Pakistan Navy and Turkish Naval Forces. PN MILGEM ships represent the most advanced surface platforms in Pakistan Navy’s fleet, featuring state of the art command and control systems integrated with modern weapons and advanced sensors. The contract for the construction of four MILGEM class ships for Pakistan was signed in 2018 between the Ministry of Defence Production, Pakistan, and M/s ASFAT, Türkiye. Under the agreement, two ships were constructed in Türkiye and two in Pakistan. The commissioning of PNS KHAIBAR marks the completion of construction of both ships built in Türkiye. #PNSKHAIBAR
